Wansbeck Care Home

Mum has settled into her new home with the patience and care of the team. Opinions are listened to and valued. My mum is always presentable and her room is clean and tidy. All the residents are happy and it's lovely to see during each visit. My mum was very concerned initially due to previous experiences of residents being in her room and taking her belongings. She now feels safe knowing that this does not happen or will be supported. Food and drink are excellent - not feeling like there's too much (overwhelming) and what she would have enjoyed prior to her dementia. Mum has not accessed activities yet to comment sufficiently.

Very clean and friendly staff.

My Mother died 3 days after her transfer. I won't say her lack of care at Wansbeck Care Home contributed to her death but I can't say it helped. She ate and drank more in the first day of her new home than she did in the previous 19 days she spent in their so-called care.

My elderly mother has been sensitively supported during her stay. She was widowed shortly after coming to Wansbeck Care Home and benefitted from kindness and care at this time. Her food preferences were accommodated and also self-care needs. While the rooms are not luxurious, the facilities are sufficient and supportive equipment, such as specialist mattresses are provided when needed. During my mother's final days, the staff could not have been more caring towards my mother and to visiting family, for which we are very grateful. Thank you.

Father was taken to the hospital early one morning. Very confused Dad and in pain. He has dementia. No escort with the resident. Why not?

I checked a few care homes before choosing Wansbeck Care Home. They all fell short, which is why I have chosen Wansbeck Care Home for my mother; she likes the care home.

The staff are very friendly and caring. The food is good.

Staff are very welcoming and helpful, easy to talk to and assist with any queries.

This is my second review. Just would like to thank all the staff for doing a fine job. Whenever I've had concerns and worries about Mam's condition things get sorted in a professional manner. Once again, everyone does a great job as sometimes it's not easy. Everyone has been so helpful and always pleasant, it's so reassuring. My experience has been a good one. I know my mother is happy to be there. It's a lovely care home.

My wife and I had a lovely time at my mam's care home celebrating the Queen's Jubilee, we were lucky with the weather and sat outside, lovely food brought out and drinks, plus a singer. The staff were brilliant, life and soul of the part jollying everybody along and they were dressed up. Just like a big family gathering.

Mother appears happy with her care, from what she can remember at her age (101-years-old). She can make her own decisions about her care considering her age.

My mother appears happy and well cared for. Staff are polite, courteous, friendly and very approachable. There always appears to be staff present with the residents whenever I visit the home. The home is very clean and tidy, well presented and very welcoming even during current Covid restrictions and Government recommendations, nothing is too much trouble for the staff.

I have been coming here since my daughter first came here and have been very impressed. I came on the 7th of May 2021 on my daughter's 40th Birthday and the management and staff went far beyond of what I would have expected. To help her celebrate, we were in one pod to see her and we laughed and cried together and had a brilliant hour with her even through the Covid.

My partner, with dementia, has been in care at Wansbeck Care Home for 2 years now and even in this difficult time they have been fantastic with her care. Whenever she has had a problem, they keep me informed as to her condition. I couldn't ask for any more from them and everyone I come into contact with is extremely friendly; almost like family.

Wansbeck used to be a lovely home, not any more. Don't be fooled by the smiles. It is now run on dishonesty, lies and total lack of care now. Speak out and your loved one is out. After two-plus years living there and after her third hospital admission in four months mainly through lack of care, this is the disgusting treatment my Mam endured. This is an honest review! We supported this home on many different levels over the years but because I dared to address any relevant issues, this was their final response. I was not informed by them but by a hospital ward nurse. However, when challenged tried to make a u-turn. No elderly person deserves this. The good carers are so overshadowed by the not so good and so often go unnoticed. Safeguarding has been involved. Thankfully after a very traumatic time, my Mam is now happy in her new trustworthy home and now safe and healthy which is all we as a family ask for and certainly no more than she or any other resident deserves.

Wansbeck Care Home is a home from home care home. My mam has lived here almost two years now and all the staff and management go over and beyond for their residents, nothing at all is a problem. Well done Team Wansbeck.

Clean, efficiently organised and run care home with extremely friendly and resident orientated staff. Easy to communicate with and nothing is a problem for the staff. Well done and keep it up Wansbeck.

My personal review of the care my Mum is receiving is very good. She is well and clean and her needs, both mental and physical, are being very well met. She feels safe and secure. I feel the home is managing the Covid situation extremely well and are doing their best in these times.

The staff is very good. They are well looked after and good food.
