When I found Wansbeck, they took me in, comforted me, reassured me they would care for Dad. They have done exactly that. All of the staff are professional, treat my Dad with dignity, respect and humour. There is always a smile and laughter to share. The staff don't just do a job, they make a happy home
for the residents. They "get" my Dad. They know him and care about him

My husband has received superb care in this home since his admission in September 2016. The staff deliver a very high standard of personalised care are very observant in noting any changes in my husband's condition. Communication has been excellent and both myself and my husband are very happy with
his surroundings and care. He is kept warm, comfortable and entertained, in a safe environment in which he clearly feels secure and valued.

My father-in-law did not spend long in Wansbeck before he passed away suddenly. However, in this short time I could see we had picked the best place for him. The staff were always pleasant and caring towards him, even during his agitated periods. They did all they could to comfort him, treating him
with great care, kindness and dignity, which was also extended to us. My father-in-law really appreciated all the staff and what they did for him, he said they were all lovely to him we knew when we left after visits, that he was receiving the best possible care, this reassured us a great deal which was a great comfort to us. Thank you ever so much.

A fantastic care home, all the staff are excellent and very caring and give the best possible dignity. Had looked around several care homes before choosing this one and cant praise them enough, have never had any cause for concerns of his welfare and the standard of his care is second to none in every
aspect. This home is to an exceptional standard. Being able to visit my dad and see him as happy and content means everything. I cannot thank any of the staff enough for the fantastic job they all do.

This is a high quality care home which is evident from every aspect. The care and dignity given is the best. The staff are highly knowledgeable and very friendly. Cleanliness all through is of a very high standard both of residents rooms and public facilities. The residents are well catered for with
lots of activities for those that wish to take part. The food is excellent with lots of variants. My husband is blind, deaf, has cancer and Alzheimer's, but I have never had any cause for concern about his wellbeing. I am so glad that I chose this care home as I don't think I could have chosen a better place.

I cannot express enough the confidence I have in leaving my mother in the care of the manager and her marvellous staff. From the first time we met with them their genuine concern and dedication to the welfare of the residents was clearly apparent. Every member of staff appear to be happy in their job
and they have supported myself and mam at a very sad and difficult time. My mother has always had a fear of "going in a home", now she requests it and feels safe there. If this becomes a permanent arrangement I will have no hesitation about feel relieved that she will be in such capable hands.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.277)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.277) out of 10 for Wansbeck Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.702 for Wansbeck Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (65 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.702
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.575 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wansbeck Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.875
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
