The family run residential care home, specialises in the care of EMI dementia and comprises of three Victorian houses, which have all been modernised to ensure that the buildings are accessible for all residents.

My late father had dementia and had to be taken into residential care as my mother was too frail to look after him and my husband and I could not meet his needs for care either. It was a particularly distressing time as lockdown had just started and we knew we would probably not be able to see him for
a long period. The owner and staff at Pontcanna House gave us great comfort from the first day. I was always confident that my Dad's health and also his well-being were being looked after with real individual care, and this was borne out when we were able to see him again. I would definitely recommend Pontcanna House.

We are extremely happy with all the staff, the care that my gran receives, the homecare is amazing. The garden makes you feel so happy! The residents are so lucky to be in this homecare. Dad has received amazing care at Pontcanna House, he is extremely happy and is cared for.
There is a fantastic range of activities at the nursing home.
During Covid, the home has received no cases and the staff have acquired full PPE.
We have had regular Facetimes with dad during Covid.

We have always been welcomed with smiling faces and hospitality when visiting our former neighbour. All the staff are deeply caring and attentive to the needs of the residents. There have been occasions when our visits have coincided with an activities afternoon, where the residents are either being
entertained by a musician or other artists or they are engaged in tabletop pursuits with guidance. Everyone is catered for well and safety, security, health and cleanliness is excellent.

My father has been at Pontcanna House for 9 months and has settled in very well.
It is a very well run care home and the staff are very kind and attentive and deal with all issues arising in a very professional manner.

I am very pleased to record that Pontcanna House private care home is worthy of the highest praise. Indeed "a beacon of care" deserving of the highest praise is being administered with love and dedication by management and staff who carry out their duties with dignity and respect, in an atmosphere that
is peaceful and calm. The staff are always there to offer every support and encouragement. It is never an easy decision to make when choosing a care home placement, however, the choice of family-fun Pontcanna House has fulfilled all our expectations. It is always reassuring after visits, to know that a safe and caring environment exists at all times. The home is exceptionally clean and food excellent. Indeed, "excellence prevails".

Pontcanna House provides a home from home environment for all residents. Care is individualised and aims to maintain each persons independence. The staff at Pontcanna House provide an outstanding level of care which has enabled my nan to remain at Pontcanna House, where she is happy and feels safe,
rather than being admitted to hospital on several occasions. Families are always welcomed and included in residents care. The manager provides superb leadership and is always accessible. I would not hesitate to recommend Pontcanna House.

Our mother moved in Pontcanna House in February of 2018. We thought this was a good care home when we arrived for an unscheduled visit to view it. Our initial thought that it was a good care home was soon overshadowed when we realised that it was in fact, a brilliant care home.
I cannot say how
good the staff and care is. This is the one fundamental core value that is essential. Care homes are only as good as the poorest carer. I am delighted to say that ALL the carers (and other teams) are outstanding.
Our mother is treated with respect and kindness, taking time to identify what her personality was before the dementia took hold. Keeping these in mind, she has managed to retain many things that are dear to her, appearance and the need for socialising being at the top of the list.
In addition, she has a lovely room but we are really pleased that the majority of time, residents are encouraged to spend time with other people, reducing the isolation which dementia can bring.

From the first time of visiting Pontcanna House, it has a homely, welcoming feeling. The staff are well informed of each resident's needs and they are treated with dignity and respect. My Mother's room is well equipped and nicely decorated, the lounges, dining area and outside spaces are well designed
and maintained. The exterior bungalow is a great idea and gives residents a special experience when dining and meeting family in this facility. My Mother is happy, contented and well looked after thanks to the professionalism of the staff and management at Pontcanna House. As a family, we are delighted with our decision of choosing Pontcanna House for our Mother.
