I cannot say how good the staff and care is. This is the one fundamental core value that is essential. Care homes are only as good as the poorest carer. I am delighted to say that ALL the carers (and other teams) are outstanding.
Our mother is treated with respect and kindness, taking time to identify what her personality was before the dementia took hold. Keeping these in mind, she has managed to retain many things that are dear to her, appearance and the need for socialising being at the top of the list.
In addition, she has a lovely room but we are really pleased that the majority of time, residents are encouraged to spend time with other people, reducing the isolation which dementia can bring.
Many thanks, Jonathan for your kind words and support. It is only with wonderful families and residents like yourselves and your mother that we are able to be the home we are.
From the first time of visiting Pontcanna House, it has a homely, welcoming feeling. The staff are well informed of each resident's needs and they are treated with dignity and respect. My Mother's room is well equipped and nicely decorated, the lounges, dining area and outside spaces are well designed and maintained. The exterior bungalow is a great idea and gives residents a special experience when dining and meeting family in this facility. My Mother is happy, contented and well looked after thanks to the professionalism of the staff and management at Pontcanna House. As a family, we are delighted with our decision of choosing Pontcanna House for our Mother.
I can't praise the home enough and feel so grateful to them.
Since my aunt has been here for over 18 months she has gone from strength to strength, in terms of weight gain to general health and socialising more within her environment. And overall has seemed much happier and contented. All staff are very friendly and obliging and have developed a lovely rapport with my auntie (which is no mean feat!) All previous worries I had regarding my aunt have been taken away in the knowledge that she is in a safe environment to a loving and caring group of carers.
I have found the staff friendly, the food good and a good variety of activities. Looking forward to Christmas!!
The staff feel empathy for those patients with dementia with great trust.
I am so glad that my lovely stepmother who has alzheimer's has such a lovely warm and caring environment to live in. I am so impressed with the level of love and concern that all of the staff, without exception, show to her and to all the other residents.
The carers are kind and have empathy with you and your family. The home is always clean and the food is excellent.
The garden features a lovely space for more family.
My husband is now making good progress and settling into the home, which has been hard for us as a family.
Thank you Pontcanna House and staff.
It is never an easy decision to entrust the care of a loved one to someone else. My mum went into Pontcanna House in January. It was very hard for both her and me, but every member of staff made the transition as easy as humanly possible with constant care and communication. Mum has blossomed at Pontcanna House. I wholeheartedly believe she wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Pontcanna House is excellent.
Standards are exceptionally high and the carers are absolutely fantastic - they will do anything to make life comfortable for the residents.
I am extremely happy with the care home - it has taken a tremendous load off my shoulders knowing my mum is safe and very well cared for.
She is always clean and the hygiene is second to none.
Pontcanna House is always spotlessly clean, a very welcoming home where staff cheerfully greet visitors too - a cup of tea is always on offer!
The managers are always on hand for a chat too and have great knowledge of their residents.
The home is very good. I enjoy the food and staff are very good.
She is happy and comfortable and when we visit it's always a lovely visit as the surroundings are comfortable and we are always made to feel most welcome.
I couldn't recommend this care home enough to anyone thinking of or needing to put their relatives in a safe and happy place.
My auntie is very, very special to me and I know she is well looked after by all the staff.
I am very happy.
It is a first class home.
I have lived in Pontcanna House for 6 months. I have enjoyed my time here. Staff are very caring. Nothing is too much for them to help you. The manager of our home is wonderful. Listening to our queries and sorting everything out to resolve any problems. My family really like Pontcanna House as they are welcome every time they come. They all live in London but make the effort to visit. They are very grateful to the matron and staff for the care to all the residents. I am saying this as a retired nurse.
My best friend has lived in Pontcanna House for 18 months and when I come in to see her every week she is comfortable and happy. Her room is laid out with pictures and memories from the past. Staff are very friendly and caring and very kind with the visitors. They even provided me with lunch once. My friend seems very happy whenever I see her and looks very smart. Staff encourage her to look her best. My friend was 80 last week and she had the most amazing party in the home with a flamenco dancer and guitarist she loved this. I always enjoy coming to the home.
My mother has been cared for at Pontcanna House for several years and I have no hesitation in recommending their services. I live overseas so can only visit a couple of times a year. I always arrive unannounced and am greeted in a most friendly, welcoming manner. Mum is always smart, well cared for, well fed and entertained and very happy. One really cannot ask for more. I rate them excellent on all facets.
The staff and management do a lot for the residents by providing entertainers and parties. Before I came on respite, I was a wreck, but since I have lived in 'Pontcanna House', the staff have helped me come out of my shell. I am more confident and I am really happy that I have started getting out of bed and washing myself. I couldn't do that before. The food is excellent and the cook is a wonderful woman. The stuff and management are a great support and I can talk to any of them. I am really happy here.
Brilliant care, lovely environment.
Very enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere. Very friendly staff. I enjoyed my visit very much.
I visited Pontcanna House at 10.15 am on the related date. The home was very clean, bright and airy, lots of fresh flowers were on display. All the service users, were clean, bright colours of their clothes, all matching. The staff were very friendly and they all looked smart in their uniforms. I was offered refreshments as soon as I arrived, they made me feel very welcome.
