Our dining team will be thrilled with your lovely comments. Here at Sunrise of Cardiff, we cater to each resident based on preferences and dietary requirements. Hearing this positive feedback is greatly appreciated by everyone in the community.
My brother and I have been consistently impressed by the high level of care that my father, who suffers from severe dementia, has received from Sunrise of Cardiff's Reminiscence staff (the manager and the team). In the face of the current COVID-19 emergency, working conditions for the staff have been even more difficult than usual, having to wear PPE, etc. Information and updates in emails from Sunrise during the emergency have been good, and the Reminiscence staff have been excellent, sending us videos and facilitating online communication, whenever we ask, between my father, brother and I.
We believe our carers at Sunrise of Cardiff go the extra mile, and for you to recognise this is invaluable to our team. We endeavour to provide the very best care for our residents, thank you for your kind words.
My mother has been a resident for five years at Sunrise. The staff are caring and take wonderful care of the residents. During this particularly difficult time, the staff have been wonderful, keeping in touch via video calls and regular phone calls. I know Mum is being looked after with care and compassion and that helps ease the worry at this very unusual time. The home has made significant improvements in the last 12 months under the new general manager and the new refurbishment will make a huge difference to the lives of both the residents and staff.
Here at Sunrise of Cardiff, we endeavour to provide the very best experience for our residents and their families. Thank you for taking the time to share your kind words with us, these will be shared with the team.
My mother has been at Sunrise, Cardiff, since before Christmas 2019 and has settled in really well. The home is spacious with nice rooms and gardens. It is reassuring to know that she is being looked after so well and we are always updated with any issues or concerns. We feel that the staff and carers genuinely care for my mother and the other people there.

The staff seem very caring and good with the residents. Standards of cleanliness and hygiene are good. The home has a lovely feel, especially now the reception area has been refurbished. Communication with relatives is good.
Here at Sunrise of Cardiff, we have worked hard to ensure all of the residents receive the highest quality of care and security within our home. Thank you for your kind words, these will be shared with the team and we look forward to welcoming you back to our home soon.
Managers and staff were extremely helpful during the admittance process and during this incredibly difficult time. The staff have been wonderful to my mother and have communicated with me exceptionally well.
Here at Sunrise of Cardiff, we believe communication with family members and friends is very important. This enables us to provide understanding and confidence to relatives of our high-quality care whilst also giving us the opportunity to improve our service. Thank you for taking the time to share your kind words.
The activities and the team that Sunrise have are amazing and the connection with me, my mum and the team there is really an important factor as it feels like a family.
Mum is eating well she just needs to say she wants to eat less as she thinks she has to eat everything. She gets to go out in the garden and she is enjoying the new Bistro and has made friends that have become very important to her in a very short time.
I hope that Sunrise are recognised for their care and their commitment.
Sunrise of Cardiff appreciate moving into a care home can be an unsettling time. This is why we take the time to engage with family members and friends of the resident to make the process as smooth as possible, to get to know the resident on a personal level. We are pleased to hear your mother has settled in well.
Why does Sunrise have a food hygiene rating of only 3?
We are disappointed to receive this feedback. As our residents, their families and friends already know, Sunrise of Cardiff is being refurbished and this will provide new furniture, seating and décor throughout the home. My father has been a resident for the last two and a half years. He has a large and light room, furnished with many of his own items, The public rooms are spacious, with a number of small areas for more personal meetings. Meals are good with plenty of variety. My father particularly enjoys the trips out in the minibus, usually three times per week. But most importantly, the staff are excellent, kind, friendly and always with enough time, never hurried.
Your feedback is important to us, as is the care and well-being of all of our residents. We take great pride in ensuring we deliver high-quality care and facilities to make a difference to our residents and their families lives.

Generally very pleased with the service and the caring and friendly environment. The staff are very supportive and my mother seems to enjoy the family type feeling in the Reminiscence (Dementia) section and is often smiling and having fun and is having a new lease of life. She enjoys the trips out to various locations in the Cardiff area and the staff always seem to vary the entertainment provided.

Sunrise staff have cared for my mother whose dementia is accelerating fast. They have carried this out so caringly and professionally that she and I have only good words for them. She has had health concerns addressed with great sensitivity, physical needs gently cared for, while preserving her sense of dignity too. Everything possible has been done to engage her in all activities that she is capable of.

Very good. Staff are excellent, extremely clean, very warm and welcoming. They have their own bus, providing residents with trips out three times a week. The dog is very friendly. Rooms are spacious and provide everything that is needed. Lots of activities. The food is outstanding. I have enjoyed sitting in the very spacious comfortable lounge. Meet the Team (1)

I have worked in care since 2011 and now hold a level five diploma in health and social care. I have also completed several other courses that have helped me work my way up from care assistant to my current role as home manager.
I chose to work for Care UK specifically because of its commitment to providing person-centred care. As an organisation, it values continuous development, teamwork and compassion. There is also a strong framework of support for anyone who wants to progress in their career.
A good home manager must be highly organised and be genuinely committed to delivering the highest standards of care. Patience, empathy, leadership skills and excellent communication are all equally important.
There are so many highlights to my role, and I take great pride in ensuring Llys Cyncoed is a warm, inclusive and safe environment for residents and colleagues. I feel privileged that I have been promoted to manager in a home where I have grown professionally over the last ten years.
One of my favourite parts of the day is the time I spend with residents. I always make sure to join in the daily anagrams challenge. As well as testing my word-puzzle skills, interacting with residents helps me better understand the support they need.
Taking time to be with residents is also a great reminder of why I chose a career in care, which was to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
Most of my time outside of work is joyfully filled by my two young children. I enjoy reading, going for walks in nature and along the beach. I also have a newly found hobby of buying houseplants.
