The team at Church View are committed to helping residents to maintain a positive quality of life, whatever that means to them. As well as the range of activities available, residents are also encouraged to stay connected with the Caerphilly community, from building relationships with neighbours in local community groups and schools, to arranging sightseeing trips in the local area.
Inside, the home has been carefully designed to provide residents with a space where they feel at home, whilst also being equipped to offer the highest quality care and support. There is a range of premier and wet room options, as well as a hair salon and café on site, and residents can enjoy mealtimes in the specially designed dining areas. During the warmer months, the peaceful courtyard garden is the ideal spot for some alfresco dining.
With the support of the home manager, each member of the team at Church View is there to help make the home a happy place to live, delivering the kindest care to residents and supporting them to lead their best possible life.

I have reviewed our daily rotas over the past few weeks and there has been no evidence to show that we have been understaffed at any one time. We staff the Home within company policy; staffing is based according to Residents needs and the number of Residents at any particular time; this is reviewed regularly by management. There are some staff changes within Church View due to maternity leave and we are currently recruiting for these positions. In conjunction with our well-being coordinator, we have compiled and printed some photographs of activities your stepmother enjoys and participates in which you are welcome to view. A monthly planner of activities, discussed with Residents, has been devised and will imminently be in place. I hope you are reassured that the happiness and wellbeing of all our Residents is at the forefront of all that we do. Please do not hesitate to liaise with Home management should you have any concerns going forward.
We are really pleased with the care my aunt is receiving at Church View Care Home. She is settled and happy there. The staff are second to none and nothing is too much trouble for them. They are always there to answer any questions you have and we are very happy in every category.

I am satisfied with the care of my Husband. Carers are very kind and loving. Obviously, some are better than others but I have no complaints with anyone. They are all lovely. I would like to see more activities. The ones that are in place, on occasions, are very good. But if there was some activities more often it would stimulate those with dementia. But even if nothing changed I'm happy for Brian to be here. He has settled in well and that's due to the care he has been given. Thank you so much.

Our staff work very hard to deliver quality kind care and we are very proud of them. Following discussions with our Wellbeing Coordinator, we can advise that a monthly activities planner has been devised. We are currently reviewing activities for our memory care unit and we hope your husband and our other Residents will find these stimulating; we are happy to take on board any activities you might suggest specific to your husband, we appreciate and encourage relative input.
I am very happy with the care my mother receives. All staff are very kind and helpful and work very hard. They ensure that they do their best for all of the residents at all times. Sometimes there can be a mix up with the laundry and I think that more attention could be paid in that direction.

All relevant staff have been spoken with, and have been asked to be more vigilant with the washing and putting away of clothes, making sure that all items are returned to the correct resident bedrooms. Thank you for your words of praise regarding our staff team, we are very proud of their support of our Residents and their aim to deliver quality kind care. Please do not hesitate to liaise with the Home Manager should you have any concerns whatsoever, so that they can be immediately addressed.
I have a very good welcome when I come to visit my friend, the lunch is very good and the people are very nice to me. My friend has come on fine and is very happy here and all the other friends.

I am very happy with Mums care. She is treated very well. Having been here over 6 months she has settled really well. The staff keep me up to date of her care and well being.

Excellent home. Lovely staff and so caring. Mum had a lovely lunch out today and went to see a pantomime. They do lots of entertainment and Mum enjoys her Zumba!

We went out on a short bus trip but ended by being invited in having a first class lunch organised by the voluntary service for the elderly. It was first class. We all enjoyed it. Looking forward to going again.
Yesterday we took our mini bus and had a tour of this beautiful area. Few of us had seen it before. We ended up having a tea at Tredegar House. It was a lovely day out. We had a 3-course meal in Bedwellty House organised by the R.V.S. A lovely day out was had.

My mother went to Church View for respite care. She was really enjoying her stay. She enjoyed the company of the other residents, the food, and also the staff were so kind and caring.
Sadly she was taken ill during the last week of her stay, was taken to hospital and died in A&E.

Nearly all the ladies that care for my mother would make amazing nurses. Most of these carers would put qualified nurses to shame.

My mother went into this residential home in February 2010. Our family is pleased with the care she has received. We find the staff very caring. The food and cleanliness are excellent. Last week she had her 100th birthday and had a lovely day and a party and entertainment were put on for her....

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?
“Kind care means getting to know people and understanding their emotions, making every effort to offer the best possible care, and getting Residents involved in the activities that make them happiest.”
Christine started working at sister HC-One care home Abermill in 2001, and later progressed to Home Manager level after excelling in her role as Deputy Manager at the home. She has gained experience in a number of different care services, including residential and memory care, and has achieved qualifications in health and social services, management and care.
Christine closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that means they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.
When asked what she enjoys the most about her role, Christine remarked: “I enjoy taking time to interact with Residents and their Relatives, which allows me to get to know each individual on a personal level.”
Christine credits her biggest achievement as completing a 3km sponsored walk, raising more than £400 for Alzheimer’s Society, with the support of her Colleagues and Residents.
Outside of work, Christine enjoys spending quality time with her loved ones, including watching her niece and nephews play rugby.
