The staff are amazing, all went out of their way to make my father's birthday party so special. It was the hardest decision in my life to put dad in a care home. I can say this was the best decision and the best choice of care home.

The lady came in on her day off to help make my father's day special, organised the singer. 10 out of 10.

My mother has only been here for a few days; my first visit to this care home. I am impressed by the homeliness of this centre. I also am struck by the kindness of all the care workers. The staff treated my Mum with respect, but firmness, when she had a panic attack and affirmed that she did not have to do anything that she did not want to. A long term resident of the centre chatting away praising all aspects of Castle view and told me that her neighbour was upset when she was leaving. Care workers are under the microscope these days - I am confident that she is safe and the staff will take good care of her.

Overall Experience

My mother in law has been a resident since June 2018, the staff downstairs work very hard and are always helpful, over the last few months the staff have not been consistent and this has had a negative effect on the residents. As in any job, some staff are better than others and this is noticeable in the care and routine they provide, which seems to have a calming effect all around. There are two members of staff that I would like to thank for the care they provide to my mother in law, and also to the new caretaker, he has made a vast improvement on the environment by painting and making it look fresh and clean, as sometimes it can be overpowering and needed some upgrading and this makes it more pleasant to visit . The only disappointment is the fact that the minibus has gone, not that it was used much. But, the opportunity for any trips out has now gone, this is such a shame for the residents, but I am satisfied with the care that the home provides,

Since my mother has been in this care home I feel the standards have dropped and a lot of good caring carers have left in the last six to eight months. There aren't enough activities in this period lately, since the activities coordinator has left there and doesn't seem to have been replaced. I feel that my mum is not getting the value for money that she should be. There are a lot of good carers that work there but also some bad ones, my mum is being well looked after but there are issues that need attention. There never seems to be enough staff at times and there are instances that only one carer per floor is working.

Mother well cared for. Loves the food. Staff very kind and friendly. Home seems clean. Only gripe mother has is there doesn't seem to be much entertainment. As my mother is forgetful I cannot verify this as I know she has done things she's forgotten about.

HC One in Caerphilly is the most loving, caring place I know. All the staff are absolutely amazing and so passionate about everything they do at HC OneCaerphilly. The manager at HC One is amazing and there couldn't be a better person for the job. Another member of staff is also fantastic and passionate about her job.

I very much love coming in all the time to talk to my friend. She is a very loving and caring resident who thoroughly loves everyday living at HC-One Church View. My aunty is a resident and is very happy with the care she receives. The carers and the care home manager are excellent with all the residents. Nothing is too much trouble for the carers. They are all very friendly and happy in their work and they all work very hard. The carers always give the visitors a nice welcome.

Would like to thank the staff for putting on such good, brilliant entertainment and for all the hard work they do for us. The singer this month was fab, we had lots of fun seeing the staff joining in with dressing up. We celebrated with a wartime theme, a good afternoon was had by all.

We are quite disappointed with the home - lack of activities offered, same food all the time, never offered brown bread and always short staffed. We chose this home as it was portrayed as a high quality home but we do not feel we are getting value for money especially with the recent increased costs per week. Hopefully, the new manager can improve things otherwise we will look elsewhere.

Since my Mother has been in Church View she has been very well cared for. All the staff and management are very nice with nothing too much trouble for them. The food is lovely and I'm always offered drinks and snacks when I visit my Mother. The garden area is lovely and my Mother loves to sit there with other residents. I'm always made to feel really welcome. The new manager is lovely and very helpful.

While the staff try to do a good job, many many times they are understaffed.
Apart from the 24/7 TV, there seems to be very little stimulation.

I chose this home as is is across the road to the church which my stepmother enjoys going to but maybe I should have done more research.

I was a little apprehensive when I placed my mother-in-law into Church View not knowing what to expect. My mother-in-law has now been in Church View for a year now and I am very impressed with the standard of care my mother-in-law has received. The staff always make sure she is clean and well presented and well-fed as she has gained a little weight in the past year. Making sure she is always involved, such a lovely place. Thank you.

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?

“Kind care means getting to know people and understanding their emotions, making every effort to offer the best possible care, and getting Residents involved in the activities that make them happiest.”

Christine started working at sister HC-One care home Abermill in 2001, and later progressed to Home Manager level after excelling in her role as Deputy Manager at the home. She has gained experience in a number of different care services, including residential and memory care, and has achieved qualifications in health and social services, management and care.

Christine closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that means they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.

When asked what she enjoys the most about her role, Christine remarked: “I enjoy taking time to interact with Residents and their Relatives, which allows me to get to know each individual on a personal level.”

Christine credits her biggest achievement as completing a 3km sponsored walk, raising more than £400 for Alzheimer’s Society, with the support of her Colleagues and Residents.

Outside of work, Christine enjoys spending quality time with her loved ones, including watching her niece and nephews play rugby.

If you would like to find out more information about Church View, Christine has an ‘Open Door Policy’ and would be pleased to welcome you for an informal discussion.
