My mum has been at Craigielea care home for 1 and a half years now. She has been cared for fantastically. The facilities and the staff are fantastic. I feel my mum would not have received any better care elsewhere. Feel grateful that she has spent the last period of her life at Craigielea. Would definitely recommend this care home to anyone.

What I really like about this care home is how individual it is. They are constantly redecorating the common areas and there are so many sensual things in all the corridors to catch the resident's eyes and for them to touch, whether it's a washing line full of baby clothes or a Mediterranean terrace to sit at. I visited many homes when choosing a place for my dad and the rest were all so plain and sterile in comparison, Craigielea sets a new standard the rest should try to follow!

Craigielea is always clean and well presented. The security is great to keep people secure.
The staff are always welcoming and very helpful; asking if we need anything; keeping us up to date with my mother in law.

There are lots of activities and support for those staying there. A great place, great people, glad we are there.

My brother has been in this care home since day 1. The staff and management are so professional in what they do, to provide a dignified action of care for all the residents. In my time visiting my brother I have witnessed occasions when staff have been called upon to act quickly in very serious situations and they have dealt with them admirably.

Doctors and other senior professionals are always on hand to deal with residents needs. A well-run home. Thanks.

Overall Experience

Overall I feel mum will be looked after with care and respect. However, there are improvements that could be made. The interaction between staff and the residents who are mobile is good but I feel that there is not enough interaction from the staff for the others. I have witnessed staff moving residents to take them to dinner etc without speaking to them first to let them know what is happening, coming into rooms and not acknowledging the residents. Sometimes there are a number of residents in the lounge which can be very hot and noisy. Small things like ensuring they are in a comfortable position in the chair or bed, not too hot or cold, needing changing etc can make a vast difference to that person's quality of life. On a positive note if I have had to approach a member of staff with a problem they have always quickly rectified it. The majority of staff are cheerful, hard working and strive to make Craigilea a good place to be for the residents and for that I am very grateful.

Many thanks to all the staff at Craigielea care home for the love and kindness they have shown to my brother.
I have never seen my brother so content and happy and that is all down to the staff at Craigielea.

A special thanks to two staff - a double act that has my brother in stitches.

Craigielea care home is run very professionally and all the staff always have a smile on their face as they go about the work.

The care home is kept very clean and tidy.

Like a home from home. The staff treat the residents with much kindness and dignity.
Plenty of stimulation for the residents.
I am overall very happy with my choice of home for my mother.

I would however like there to be more outdoor trips for the residents and maybe a few visits to shows etc.

In the past few months, my husband has developed more complex care needs. Again the staff of the home have worked to find solutions in so doing they have kept my husband comfortable and dealt with my anxieties for which I am again indebted. I would also like to mention the work of the laundry girls who do a marvellous job of keeping the residents looking so smart. Throughout the home, there is an atmosphere of co-operation and compassion.

My mum came to Craigielea Nursing Home on 10th January 2017 after suffering from a stroke. She settled in well, with the kindness and support from staff. I love visiting my mum and can leave, relaxed in the knowledge that she is safe and being well looked after.

I first visited Craigielea Care Home a few years ago when my mum was unwell. She made progress and was able to live at home for a bit longer. As soon as she needed a high level of care I immediately got back in touch with the manager who assisted in making it a smooth transition. My mum has felt completely at home since she moved in last year. She is happier and healthier as a result. She loves socialising with others. As a social worker who has visited a lot of care homes, I have been pleased with all aspects of my mums care and have recommended the unit to others. Also, the staff are all friendly and hard working.

My daughter has Huntingtons and was in an acute hospital ward where they didn't have the time and training to deal with her. The social workers were looking for a long term placement for her. One day, I was introduced to the home's manager who gave me some hope, the following day I met the Unit manager and her dog and I had such good vibes from both ladies that I prayed they would take her and they did.
As I have bad health myself I felt that I wouldn't have worries about anything happening to me.

So four years later, my girl is well cared for and has settled well with the lovely staff, is spoiled and happy.

My relative has been in Adams Unit for over three and half years. He can be very individual but has been cared for by all staff with great care, dignity and compassion - he is one of the family.

The unit is very well run and the staff are very caring, there is great flexibility of approach and the food is lovely. I would recommend this unit very highly to others.

First Christmas without Aunt in her own home. The staff at Craigielea are all very kind and caring and allowed friends and family to join in arranged activities and events but also allowed you to have individual time with our Aunt. Clean, professional, compassionate service that all our family are happy with.
