My mother is very happy at Craigielea - where she is treated as an individual and with respect. All staff are excellent - going above and beyond to care for all residents and are also great at listening to my concerns when trying to understand my mother's illness. I would highly recommend this care
home.

I am very pleased with the care my brother receives at Craigielea Care Home, he is popular with the staff and he participates in the activities especially the art sessions, the administration staff are very helpful with all money matters and advise with standing orders and personal accounts held in
the home.

I am very pleased with the standard of care provided to my mother. I am unable to visit often as I live abroad. I recently arrived without notifying the facility and was delighted to find my mother clean and well dressed with makeup on, looking healthy and happy.
I have no worries that she is being
cared for with dignity and love.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I visit the home every day except when unwell and really enjoy visiting my son who had a stroke almost 3 years ago at the age of 60. I was pleased to get him into Craigielea as it is under a mile from home as as I am 94, this was most convenient. He has been very happy here and mostly keeps to his room
as he cannot talk, eat or drink and most of the lads are also unable to talk. The staff are very good, friendly and helpful and make me very welcome, also provide tea etc when we are watching TV. I look forward to visiting the home daily, it is a pleasure to chat and have a laugh with everyone there it makes my day.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
It broke my heart to finally have to admit that my mum needed more care than I was capable of and the time had come for her to go into a nursing home. After visiting several homes we decided on Craigielea. My mum has now been in their care for 8 months and I can honestly say she is being looked after
24/7 by a team of very competent angels. My heartfelt thanks goes to every single one of them.

My mother has been in this care home for a number of years. The care she receives from the staff is excellent. I would recommend this care home to any family, who has a loved one and who needs care. I have nothing but praise for the management and staff.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Since my son was admitted to Craigielea in November 2015 the difference in his condition and behaviour is remarkable. He is very happy and contented and his personal hygiene is faultless. The staff have made a real effort so communicate with him and have been very successful in doing so. He can no longer
swallow so is fed by tube and can he walk by himself or talk but between himself and the staff they understand exactly what he's trying to ask for. To be honest with you I didn't know such places with such a high standard of care existed and count my son very lucky indeed to be given a place there.

It was extremely daunting and upsetting making the final decision that our mother needed 24hr care. However, Craigelea has made that transition easy, not only for mum, but for the family. The care, facilities, stimulation, staff, environment and management this care centre provides has been second
to none. It has actually been the best decision we have made on mum's behalf, as despite mum having dementia, her physical, mental and psychological health has improved. We are grateful to everyone who works there. You should be very proud of what you have created at the centre. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.555)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.555) out of 10 for Craigielea is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.543 for Craigielea is calculated as follows: ( (66 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.543
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.012 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Craigielea is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 85 registered maximum number of service users is 17. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 17 = 0.412
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
