I have to say a big thank you to all the staff within this service. Mum went in over a year ago and the positive changes in her have been second to none. Mum's emotional health, well-being and social inclusion needs have all been met without question. Environmentally, her room is always clean and fresh, which takes some doing as it's like her home and she likes all her own belongings around her, even at Christmas. Mum loves her baths, earrings, nails and hair being done and she always looks well. We, as a family, are very aware of the work, care, and thoughtfulness that the staff administer daily to make Mum so happy and we can't praise them enough. Mum is her own person and she is treated with the utmost respect and dignity, this has encouraged Mum to again be interested in everything and everyone so we feel very blessed. Mum has gained weight and has the light back in her eyes and laughs plenty. We know for a fact this is all down to this service and working together with the staff.

Gran moving into a care home was one of the hardest decisions we had to make as a family. But the move has had an enormous positive impact on Gran's quality of life. Over the past year, it has been clear to see the improvement in both her physical and mental health and she now enjoys and has an interest in socialising and taking part in activities. This is something she withdrew from while at home. The staff provide her with a high standard of care, this is evident in how well she looks. Staff have gone above and beyond during Covid and have facilitated video calls to allow Gran to meet her new great-grandson when this was not possible to meet in person. A big thank you to everyone who looks after Gran.

My partner's nana went into Craigielea earlier this year and have had to move her to a different home only 3 months later due to the rubbish care. She can go a week or longer without staff washing her and cleaning her room. My partner's mum has to feed her almost every day as the staff doesn’t encourage her or forget about her at meal times. This care home should be shut down or needs completely new staff, I feel bad for all the residents.

My nana went into Craigielea at the start of March. For the first few weeks the staff were great but after the ‘honeymoon period’ staff started not caring and looking after my nana. My nana was being forgotten about for meals, my nana is very frail and needs encouragement when eating and the staff didn’t encourage her to eat a meal once. After my mum raised her concerns about my nana not getting the right care, the staff did not seem to care and eventually ended up singling my nana out. Staff would constantly talk badly about other residents and mention how they can’t be bothered helping them or have forgotten about them. The manager is a waste of space and does not care for anyone apart from herself. Do not put your family in here unless you want them to be forgotten about and let their health decline.

My mother was in Craigilea in 2017. In the short period of time my mum was in, I thought the care was great. This year in March my mother-in-law went in. I must confess the overall care, the food, the cleanliness, and the garden area leaves a lot to be desired. All of these points can be easily rectified however after many meetings with the manager etc nothing has improved. I have never left a negative review in my life but I feel compelled to do so. I sincerely hope the owners of Craigilea take action.

During the pandemic I could not praise the home enough, they were excellent. Since the pandemic I have seen a lot of staff changes (more carers) i.e. staff leaving, hopefully, that will get addressed now. I sometimes think the cleanliness could be stepped up slightly. The garden needs to be improved. Overall, our family are quite happy with Craigielea Care Home but in everything, there is always room for improvement. The laundry department needs to be looked at.

My gran became a resident of the home just over a year ago. In all honesty, we did not think she would be there for long as she had been extremely unwell before. I am delighted to say she has become much better during her time, she has put on weight and become so much more engaged and interactive. The care and support she and we have received has been incredible. My gran has experienced many activities and done things she would never have had the opportunity to do. Thanks to all the staff.

My mum went into Craigielea 22 weeks ago. I am not going to lie I thought this care home was amazing as my mother-in-law was there in 2018, then the care was exceptional. I am very disappointed in the care that my mother has received. I went to the care home manager on several occasions to try and rectify the issues. She was not interested in the slightest, the food here is well below average, I have to buy my mother's food which costs me a fortune. Not only that, I was on holiday and on my return to find out my mum has been served out-of-date food which could have caused severe food poisoning. My mum had been forgotten about at mealtimes. 4.45 is the time they start to bring the residents to the dining area my mum did not even get asked to go. As I was present in her room I then went to the care home manager who pretended to be caring. This is not the first time, my mother does not receive the care that she is meant to. I am there on the premises 10 hours per day as I have to be.

My mother has been in care for four years now, and Craigielea has been fantastic with all my mother's needs. The staff are very attentive and caring. They encourage the residents to mix and have plenty of activities going on daily to help stimulate the residents. I would highly recommend Craigielea as a care home.

Craigielea has one of the most caring and dedicated staff. They treated my husband with dignity and respect, making it a place where residents didn't just sit around all day doing nothing, residents get activities to engage in if they want.

The staff, from the office staff, support staff, nursing and manager are all approachable, helpful and caring.

I would like to say that I cannot thank everyone enough at Craigielea Care Home for the amazing care given to my mum. Every single member of staff works as part of a team who go way beyond their call of duty. Not only did my mum benefit from the care at Craigielea, they also looked out for my dad and us as a family unit. Mum passed away in June after four and a half amazing years of care and I can say right to Mum's last breath, they still provided the best support and care. Mum called the staff who looked after her "her girls". Mum was also given an amazing send off from the home. Thank you again to all management and staff. We will never forget the care given to Mum.

Both my parents are in the Robertson wing of this care home. I would have no doubt in recommending Craigielea to anyone considering a care home for their family. Staff are very attentive and friendly to not only residents but family and visitors also which allows us to go about our daily life knowing that our family are in good hands and being well taken care of especially now during COVID-19.

My partner has been in the home for about four and a half years it's only now he is feeding himself which is great. He is a great eater and enjoys his food in the home. All the carers are wonderful and the food is very very good. All the staff are so caring, a very nice group of girls and all who work there.

Having recently returned to Scotland from abroad, I visited my mother for the first time at Craigielea. The first thing that struck me was the atmosphere. There was quite simply a warm, relaxed and happy buzz. Everyone, although busy with their duties, had a smile and on observation, it was clearly apparent that the residents were being treated with both dignity and compassion.
As a nurse, I was impressed by the thought and detail that had gone into the activities and wall displays.

Furthermore, to find my own mother looking cared for and despite her dementia, content and happier than she has done in years. All down to the staff taking time to get to know her and care that she had no anxiety issues and when she does, they are dealt with kindly.

Mum is well looked after, she is in a safe environment and the staff are all lovely. I do get the impression they are short-staffed. I definately think it would help the residents if there were perhaps more staff especially when residents are being put to bed.
