Craigielea is in the best sense of the word a 'home'. Residents are treated as part of a family, not 'customers' or even 'patients'. Staff are always there and nothing is ever a chore, even when it’s busy or something may be happening.

I found the care my parent received second to none. Craigielea is clean with fresh and modern decor. Staff are always getting involved, supporting all my parents' care, from visits to the shop, to celebrations such as the Queen's Jubilee and King's Coronation. My father is happy and settled and always spotless, wearing his own clothes. We, as a family, feel at ease knowing he is happy. We are asked to become part of his care by being included in his care plan. We are always updated with developments in his care. Craigielea staff give a real, good vibe to the place, which shows, as they all know my father by his name and nothing is an issue. This is from management to carers. We can sleep at night knowing he has carers with his well-being at heart and he is 100% treated with respect and dignity.

The nursing care in Craigielea Care Home is less than satisfactory. Residents' needs are met to a minimum standard at best. The majority of carers are visibly disinterested and unwelcoming. I believe their personal phones are used to log work etc but I'm not sure this stretches to the videos staff scroll through when on shift. The residents lack stimulation and are just stuck in the day room in front of the television.
Craigielea was my Grandads home for a year and a half and we are still waiting on someone offering condolences for his death. I don't think that's too much to ask when you adopted the role as his second family. Even when we visited to collect his belongings the only person who offered any words was the hairdresser.

The home has just had a much-needed refit so I hope for the residents' sake that this is a sign of improvements across the board. We reported our room needed done for 14 months so I'm glad changes are finally happening even though they have taken so long.

Lovely clean friendly environment. Staff are engaging and know every resident by name which is reassuring.
Lovely outside area to sit with Gran.

The engagement between residents provides reassurance that Gran has company during the day is comforting.

Having visited numerous care homes, I have never experienced such a heartfelt reception as I do when entering Craigielea care home. From the manager and admin staff to the dedicated carers and residents, you are greeted with the utmost warmth. It’s truly heartwarming to witness the residents receiving the utmost care and consideration, making them feel genuinely appreciated. I wanted to extend my appreciation to all the staff members at Craigielea; you should take great pride in your exceptional work.

I have been visiting Adam’s for several years. In all that time no matter how stretched the staff, they always have a smile for me or hello. The ward manager is always on top form, nothing is too small for her not to know about. When asked she has given me good advice regarding the frequency and quality of visiting. If I should slip in unseen by staff, it is reassuring to know how often staff put their heads around the door to ask if my friend needs anything or if they tell a joke. It is a home from home, we need more places like this. They use very few bank staff and staff seem to stay for years. Each resident is genuinely treated as an individual. I am nothing but impressed.

It’s great to see so many activities now taking place.
I work mostly abroad and now actively look daily at the social page and find it very encouraging that there are so many activities and changes going on for the benefit of all parties.
All the residents look well cared for and so happy.
Keep up the good work as previously there were no activities and the care home was becoming very tired looking.

The new changes and decor look amazing.

Since the new manager has been in post the improvements to both the care and also the environment have been amazing! The environmental improvements include a bistro/ cafe area which is accessible to everyone and provides a lovely place to sit and have a coffee/ meal together, plus redecoration of lounges and corridor areas.
The enclosed garden has also been spruced up and provides areas for sun and shade plus for outdoor activities to take place.
Concerns are welcomed, listened to and dealt with promptly.
Increased use of the social media page means that we see residents taking part in and enjoying a range of activities.
Menus have been changed and now meet nutritional guidelines while offering real choices with home baking, fresh fruit etc available daily.

The new manager has also welcomed and enabled residents accessing an Alzheimer's charity community activities, adding to the diversity of activities on offer each day and also to providing external stimulation opportunities for residents.

My mum has been in Craigielea for nearly 4 years now. She is now totally dependent on others to care for her needs. This has been very difficult for her and for us all. I cannot praise the service manager and her team highly enough for the level of care given to my mum and to us as a family. Over that time there have been staff changes, but everyone has been very caring. I cannot thank them enough.

In most areas the home is good, staff are friendly. Rather slow in advising if the resident falls. I know there are staffing problems but having staff members that are there on a regular basis helps the resident settle in. Meals are adequate, fruit would be a good addition. I do not think the cost of care is as it should be for this amount of money.

After hearing lots of positive things about this care home we were delighted when a space became available for our family member to come back to her hometown and transfer from what we were led to believe was an inferior home where she was fairly happy. From day one, we noticed that the management was disinterested in making this a real home for our relative and the staff were unwilling to encourage our relative to go to communal areas within the home. Instead, she spent most of her time in her bedroom. Even after a meeting with the social worker and the deputy manager to discuss concerns, little was done to improve the situation. The home manager never came near to chat. We only wanted basic rights - friendly staff, care, stimulation, decent meals, and a reasonable standard of cleanliness. Craigielea failed considerably in every aspect.

Nobody cared, listened, or seemed interested, and thus our relative transferred back to her previous placement where she was cared for.

Over what has been a particularly challenging period, care staff, admin, support staff, laundry, kitchen and management have continued to deliver a high standard of person-centred care.

I would be unable to live my own life and look after my dependents if it was not for the amazing work done in West. I cannot thank you enough. The care staff are always happy and caring and never falter. They know my mum better than me now! All cleaning, laundry and kitchen staff get to know residents' names which makes a huge difference. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

My mother-in-law has been in the care home for over a year now, I am absolutely astonished at the progress and recovery she has made. I can only put this down to all the care and effort put in by the staff! She has gained weight, she participates in lots of activities and she loved getting pampered! All the staff, from the girls in the office to the hairdresser, to the manager, have been great and keep our family updated with Mum's daily care, all her medical and emotional needs are being met with dignity! Thank you for everything you do for her and our family, you are all wonderful!

My mother-in-law has been in this care home for over one year. I can't say enough about the staff and the care she has received.

As a mother of a resident in Craiglea Care Home, it's a privilege to write this reference for them. My son was admitted into Craigilea in September 2021. On starting this new journey in his life for once I knew he was going to have an exceptionally good one from now on. The carers, nurses, cleaning staff and reception staff are all amazing, they have brought my son on leaps and bounds, it's the most amazing place I've ever seen. The residents simply adore the staff. Each day brings new achievements, the rooms are immaculate. They have great activities programmes. The food is superb and everyone is happy.
I would like to convey my thanks to everyone who works within the Adam's Unit for everything they do, also the girls in reception for all their help and support and last, but not least, to the manager, you have such amazing, competent staff, full of integrity and empathy and I know you're as proud of them as I am.

On behalf of myself and my family, keep up the good work everyone, you are all amazing.
