My mum has been a resident in Nazareth House since 2015. Prior to that, she had lived alone with the help of carers.
Her mobility was becoming poorer and she was unable to leave her house. After several falls causing injuries, she agreed to residential care. She picked Nazareth House and since her move, the quality of her life has improved greatly.

She appears happier and healthier because of the care and attention she receives.

Our family are very happy with all aspects of care at Nazareth House. Well trained staff who treat our mother with dignity and respect. Surroundings are impressive and activities take place regularly.

Staff are approachable, although at times, communication could be better. On the whole, we are all very confident that Nazareth House cannot be beaten.

When my sister and I arrived with our mother, we were all distraught. The care provided by Nazareth House, both to my mother and my sister and I was second to none.

Through their compassion and expertise, they were able to reassure us all, care for each of us and settle Mum into her new surroundings.

Our mum is the second relative cared for by Nazareth House and we cannot speak highly enough of the staff and premises, their accomplishments and the care they provide.

Reply from Linda O'Neill, General Manager at Nazareth House - Glasgow

As a home, we are committed to ensuring relatives are given support throughout the process of residents being admitted to the care home as we know how hard it can be for you to leave your mum in our care.

It is always a very pleasant experience to visit Nazareth House. The staff are always very pleasant and helpful. The place is cheery and the residents, I see in passing, look happy and well cared for. Upset and shocked last year by the death of a dear priest friend, I was comforted and given tea - very much appreciated.

Our Mum arrived in Nazaret House 2 months ago, after a number of falls and various hospitals and care homes. We were desperate to find somewhere where Mum would be safe, cared for and looked after properly. Nazareth House has been amazing. The staff are lovely, friendly and caring. The facilities are like a luxury hotel. We couldn't be happier. Thank you to the whole Hazarety House team.

Our Mother has been a resident at Nazareth House for over 2 years. She is in an environment where she feels safe and protected. The facilities in the home are extremely good and cater for her complex needs. This is borne out by the management structure which is in place and the communication channels which exist within the different levels within that structure. Our Mother is treated with respect and the care workers know the residents by their individual names and have a caring manner when interacting with the residents. The team understand the individual needs of the different residents which is so important. There are regular reviews which take place with the residents/and or their legal representatives to assess their ongoing and perhaps changing needs.

We are extremely happy with the care which our Mother receives at Nazareth House and would highly recommend this care home. It is truly a “Home” in the real sense of the word!

My family are very happy with the care provided for my father.
The facility is excellent with spacious and well cared for rooms.

The most important aspect is the level of care provided by staff - they are very kind and caring, whilst the continuity of staff is a vital component.

My Mum became a permanent resident of Nazareth House Care Home in April 2017. On arrival, Mum was welcomed by several members of staff which made the transition so much more pleasant. Every single person from the Manager, office staff, receptionist, handyman, catering staff, cleaning staff, carers and outside agencies know Mum and she is treated with great respect. Her spiritual needs are met on a daily basis assisted by the Nuns. Her room is beautiful.

All of family are pleased that mum is well looked after in a caring environment. The staff are always very helpful and kind. At times we feel mum could have more stimulating activities. There are visits from singers and people to provide entertainment. There have been no trips this year.

My uncle was cared for in Nazareth House as was my sister-in-law's mother. Both received wonderful, loving care. Currently, a former neighbour (having no remaining family I am her next of kin) is receiving care. Again, the level of care is outstandingly good. My friend is so contented.

The home communicates with me on all aspects of her care and when I visit I see for myself the real care and compassion that is shown. Not only to my friend but to all residents.

I am also hugely impressed by the knowledge the staff have of visitors and of the welcome they receive. The stability that is so evident possibly derives from the fact that the senior staff provide such strong leadership and have been in the home for many years. The ethos of Nazareth House hits you as you enter through the front door.

At the time of writing, although the overall standard in Nazareth House is very high indeed, there is a noticeable lack of activities, due to the absence of n activities coordinator. I am sure that this is in the process of being addressed but it does mean that at the present moment residents on the first floor (I cannot speak for those on the ground floor) do not frequently have access to activities. I would hope this could be addressed as a matter of some urgency

My wife of 63 years entered the home 2 and a half years ago and I have not had moments worry for her safety and well-being. Being Catholic, the opportunity to continue the daily practice of her faith is immeasurable.

I have the utmost admiration for the staff who work under enormous pressures with considerate care.

I am extremely happy with the way the Care Home is run. The care that my Uncle receives is excellent and visitors to the home are made to feel very welcome. The Staff are well trained and handle the difficulties that accompany Dementia with a smile and tremendous patience and understanding. The surroundings are comfortable and I am always kept up to date with any problems that occur along the way.

Everyone does a tremendous job. I am so glad I chose this Care Home for my Uncle.

My Mother has been in Nazareth House for almost 3 years. She has been treated by all members of staff with kindness, courtesy and professional care during her stay.

The staff display an in depth knowledge of my Mum's likes, dislikes and needs and do all in their power to make her happy. I am always kept informed as to her progress.

The care home is beautiful and the standards of cleanliness are excellent. I would have no hesitation in recommending Nazareth House to friends and family.

My mum has been a resident of the care home since July 2016 and is very settled in her new home. Staff are fantastic with my mum. She tends to get very upset and confused at times and staff are always on hand to help her settle whenever I attend. The place is spotless at all times and my mum's room is lovely and cosy. I have noticed a bit more activity going on during the day also that I haven't noticed before but that may be because I don't get up much during the day because I am at work. I can rest at ease knowing that my mum is cared for and looked after. If I do have any concerns either myself or my family speak to staff and it is usually dealt with promptly.

I have had experience of a number of care homes over many years. The care shown by the staff at Nazareth House Glasgow is simply OUTSTANDING !

The management team are so caring and understanding it is clear that this is passed on to the caring staff.

As is often the case laundry services struggle to maintain the same high standards.

If he were able to, my father would choose Nazareth House in Glasgow as the place he would spend his final years.

There is no doubt that he receives the highest care and attention.

Overall Experience
My mum had been a resident in Glasgow for over four years; starting in the old home and then moving to the fabulous home two years ago. The same staff have cared for Mum all that time and these amazing carers became part of our extended family, especially when my dad's own health deteriorated to such a degree last September that he had to join Mum as a resident. He had grown to know all the staff over the years and genuinely felt cared for and loved and we will never forget the reception and welcome he got from everyone when he moved in after visiting for so long with my brothers and I. Unfortunately Dad passed away in January 2017 peacefully and surrounded by his family and my mum passed this July after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Again, peacefully and with the best religious and palliative care over the final ten days of her life that we could have hoped or prayed for.

Quite simply, we do not know how we would have managed these last years had it not been for all our friends at NH.
