Pinewood Residential Home is located in pleasant surroundings that include sea and countryside views, within which residents can receive quality residential care and live a relaxing lifestyle.

All of the 45 en-suite rooms are fully furnished and tastefully decorated but care workers actively encourage residents to personalise their room as much as possible. Some rooms have a balcony or patio.

A team of qualified staff is motivated to ensure that individual dignity is maintained, and quality of life is enhanced, in a relaxed atmosphere, 24 hours a day.

Residents' medical needs are met through an excellent liaison system between their GPs and the Island health professionals. Voluntary and religious support is always available.

Regular visits from entertainers and in-house activities provide an enjoyable social life for residents, involvement in which is optional.

A wide choice of quality menus are prepared by qualified chefs, to meet all dietary requirements. Waitress service is provided in a delightful dining room and personal service is available for those who wish to eat in the privacy of their room.

They offer permanent and short stay, convalescent and respite care to residentially and non-residentially qualified people.

The experienced management team at Pinewood, led by the resident Head of Home, ensures that high standards of care are maintained at all times.

I found the staff at Pinewood to be well trained, sympathetic to my needs and understanding of my feelings. They were attentive and readily available. I felt secure and relaxed which helped my post-operative recovery.

I needed to place my father (97), who lives with me, in respite care for a short period to attend a family emergency in the UK. I was gratified that my request was met with speed and courtesy despite the short notice. Although my father could not be accommodated in a room with an ensuite shower (unsurprising
in the circumstances) he was very happy with the care received. Many thanks for the assistance at a trying time.

My first contact with Pinewood was when I arranged for my elderly mother to become a permanent resident there from 2005 to 2008. I visited her constantly so saw the management at close hand. I have now completed a week's respite there after an operation. It has an excellent regime with a stable staff,
which is always an indicator of a happy organization. Great care is taken to cater for the individual needs of the frail and elderly, who need a calm and patient attitude.
I have recommended Pinewood to family and friends for respite care and as a permanent residence for those who require a happy and secure environment. The dining room and its menus are excellent, catering for the last-minute requirements of the residents. The activities programme is to be commended, and a hardworking hairdresser comes twice a week.

My sister and I chose Pinewood after visiting other homes, some with larger grounds and more modern buildings. As soon as we walked into Pinewood we were aware of a warm and caring atmosphere and saw that staff were taking an interest in the residents and interacting with them with encouragement and
good humour. Our first impressions were not to be disappointed and my mother stayed at Pinewood for 3 1/2 years until her death, during which time she expressed to us her own gratitude that Pinewood was so well managed and that the staff were caring and helpful and willing to listen to the resident if they had needs or concerns. Meals provided were of a very good standard.
As family members, we felt that the manageress and staff were always available to talk to us about any concerns and made every effort to resolve any issues as quickly as possible.
We felt that Pinewood had the best interests of our mother in mind and wanted to care for their residents according to their individual characters and needs.

Manageress is so nice, very welcoming. Staff are all excellent workers, very caring, also the rooms are very nice. Residents have a varied play time with lots to do.
Staff are so good, as my friend was not well but nurses have been excellent. Could not fault the care home.

I came here following a knee replacement operation.
It has been fantastic and allowed me a great opportunity to recover.
The care is superb and the home is run very well making each resident stay a pleasure.

Our GP said that the sign of a good care home was if the staff were happy in their work and if they remained employed there for long periods. Pinewood Residential Home certainly ticks both of those boxes. The staff and care could not be better.

My mother went into Pinewood last May for emergency care and has stayed there since that time.
She is very well cared for by the wonderful staff at Pinewood. She is treated with dignity and the staff encourage her to participate in daily activities which she now enjoys something she would never have
done before. Although English is not her first language, she manages to get along with everyone.

I was discharged from hospital to Pinewood Residential Home for respite care. I could not have been welcomed more warmly or treated more kindly by management and staff and would thoroughly recommend this care home to anyone.
The food is good, the menu changes daily and there is always an "own" choice
on offer - you only have to ask! The lounges are well appointed and activities and entertainment are organised. Hairdressing and chiropody is available.
Both management and staff are attentive to residents needs and always have time to listen. I commend them for their total care.

I went in for care after an invasive back operation. Staff were helpful and obliging - nothing was too much trouble. I would be happy to stay at Pinewood again if I needed to be looked after.

Sofia

Sofia Vieira

Job Title: Hospitality Service Manager Joined: 2016

Sofia has been working with Pinewood Residential Home for 4 and half years.
Sofia started her career with Pinewood as a Carer initially and is now working as a part time Receptionist at Pinewood and has now been promoted to the Hospitality Service Manager.


Sofia enjoys interacting with all the residents and their families. She particularly enjoys welcoming people into the Home which she states provides her with great job satisfaction. Her people skills are excellent; we can understand why this role suited her very well. Sofia is very versatile and will put her hand to anything.


On a personal note, Sofia was born in Madeira and is a proud mother two lovely children a daughter aged 12, her daughter enjoys dance and is regularly attending Street Dancing classes, at the end of the year they put on a big show for parents and friends. Her son is 22 and he is currently at Oxford University studying to be a primary school teacher.


In her spare time Sofia likes to go walking, watching documentaries and movies on TV and spending time with her family. A dedicated mother who puts every effort into her home life with family and her job. What we would call a real star!


Sofia is a reliable member of staff, we are very fortunate to have her working for us at Pinewood, she is a great asset to our team!

Istvan

Istvan Molnar

Job Title: Head Chef Joined: 2004

Istvan was born in Hungary and started working at Pinewood Residential Home 17 years ago, prior to that he worked in Germany, Austria, Italy, and Switzerland.
Istvan enjoys a very active life outside of the home with his love of skiing and fitness exercise. Istvan also enjoys watching Sporting events especially Formula One.
Istvan enjoys his role here at Pinewood and is an expert on nutrition and the wellbeing for all.

IIlidio has been working with us for 15 years. Born in Madeira, not only does he support our chefs in the kitchen with food preparation, but he will also support our maintenance manager with painting and decorating. A reliable member of the team and a great asset to the home.
