My mother was welcomed very warmly into Cheverton Lodge in March 2023 and from the moment we arrived, the manager and the whole team made us feel like we were at home and surrounded by family. Certain members of staff, in particular, cared for us all in such an amazing way. Nothing was too much trouble
(including helping us host a small celebration for my Mum’s birthday).
Sadly Mum passed away after only a few weeks, and the whole team gave us amazing support at an unimaginably difficult time. We cannot adequately express our gratitude to the whole team at Cheverton Lodge for making the end of my Mum’s life peaceful and comfortable, and for the love and support, they gave our whole family.
Cheverton Lodge is a very special place, and whoever takes over from the manager as general manager will have a very hard act to follow. We will remember them all with huge warmth and fondness.

In September 2022, our family faced the inevitable task of finding a care home for a family member, luckily we were made aware of Cheverton Lodge Care Home. On arrival at the appointed time, the smiling receptionist was very welcoming. On meeting the manager our faces were overcome. His professionalism
was so reassuring and his caring manner and dedication put aside any reservations we had about care homes. The family member has settled in well, the staff are so caring and the atmosphere is happy. We feel very lucky to find such a caring and professional care home.

My sister spent nearly five years at Cheverton Lodge until her death in January 2023. At first, she found it difficult to adapt as she had been transferred from another home which was closing down and she missed the routines she had grown used to. I was impressed with the way the staff at Cheverton
gradually managed to gain her trust and she soon developed a good relationship with them. I felt confident that the nursing team provided my sister with the best possible support for her multiple illnesses while the cheerful and kind care created a warm and sociable atmosphere. There were a lot of activities for residents who were mobile or active enough to participate which made a lively and welcoming impression. Any complaints - and there were a few - were taken seriously and dealt with quickly. Overall, I would recommend Cheverton Lodge.

From the initial home tour/visit and throughout my mother's stay everyone I have come in contact with (management, reception, nurses, carers, doctors, palliative care and other ancillary staff) has been professional, polite, caring and willing to go the extra mile to help support both her and our family.
The home itself is well laid out with little extras for those mobile enough to get to the dining area and communal room and enjoy occasional entertainment. The food is nicer than both hospice and hospital offerings and the staff are happy to help residents eat if no family members to hand.

The care received by Cheverton Lodge over the last 4 months of my dad's life was exceptional. The management have an open door policy and are very pleased to chat through care options. They are also very informed on how the relative is and how they have been engaging. My dad chose not to engage with
activities for whatever reason. The food was good and the principle carers for my dad so helpful. I feel we developed real friendships with the staff team. The medical staff were proactive and involved medical experts where required.
Thank you Cheverton, I feel we gave Dad the best for the end of his life!

My mother was in Barchester Cheverton Lodge Care Home for the final 3 months of her life. She had previously been in a care home in the Midlands so I had a good sense of what to expect. Cheverton Lodge proved to be wonderful. Mum needed nursing care and had complex needs. She was well cared for and
treated with respect and kindness throughout her stay. The home has excellent support from a local GP practice as well as other services in Islington. This really helped Mum continue to be comfortable until the end and enabled a hospital admission to be avoided. The nursing staff are extremely good. They predicted Mum's needs, proactively sought medical and other interventions and provided the advice and support I needed. Similarly, the manager was helpful and kind. My family and I were always welcomed into the home. I was able to spend lots of time there. Although Mum couldn't benefit much, as she was too ill, I was impressed by the entertainment officer. She was fully engaged with residents.

My mother was a resident of Cheverton Lodge. The care she received was outstanding. The staff were caring and compassionate, they took time to answer any questions we had. In her final week,s the manager allowed myself to stay overnight. I cannot thank all the staff enough.

My cousin, who has been a resident at Cheverton Lodge for well over a year, celebrated her 93rd birthday there in April 2022. It was a delightful, family occasion, with five cousins present from our generation and one more from the younger generation. We all appreciated the warm welcome, the choice

My mum stayed for one month's respite after a knee replacement. She felt looked after and safe. The manager is exceptional and makes time for the residents, extremely approachable, caring and responsive.
Carers and nurses were kind, friendly and treated my mum with respect. Great reception staff physio
was arranged privately via the manager's recommendation, however, in the home itself, there wasn't anyone to support my mum with physical recovery in terms of exercise, overall very good.

My mother was transferred to Cheverton Lodge Care home following a series of hospitalisations in July 2021. We were at our wit's end trying to find appropriate care for her as her health had deteriorated rapidly. I had already visited this care home which is also a nursing home and had a good feeling
about it. The level of care is exceptional, the staff are all extremely friendly and have a warm yet professional approach with residents. It is probably more suited to frail or disabled older people than to those who would benefit from a wide range of activities. There are strong links to local health provisions and my mother has received the kind of attention she needed and had missed out on during the pandemic and while living in a rural area. I am extremely happy with my choice of care home and would thoroughly recommend it.

The manager and his team are very caring and considerate.
My mother has a lot of medical issues and is a complex case. Having a qualified nurse on the floor was a key criteria when we chose the Cheverton Lodge. They did not disappoint.
Everyone was very professional and went over and above to ensure
mums stay was safe. Family is very important and they went out of their way to ensure family visits could take place in a safe environment for all, especially during Covid. This kept mums spirits up and kept her mentally strong. The process for booking visits was also very good.
Special mention goes to the manager and his team. But everyone was so lovely and caring. Thank you so much for all you did during her visit.
We would definitely highly recommend the Cheverton Lodge for anyone considering getting help with the care of a loved one.

My name is Andreia, and I’m excited to be starting my journey in the care home industry. I joined the Barchester team in February 2025, and it’s been an absolute pleasure so far. The team has been incredibly kind and supportive, making me feel right at home. I’ve enjoyed getting to know the residents and their families, and each day brings new opportunities to connect and make a positive impact. Job Title: Activities Coordinator Joined: 2024

I joined Cheverton Lodge in 2024 as an Activity Coordinator. I completed a Health and Social Care level 2 and performing arts at college. I have worked as an activity coordinator in a care home setting for over 5 years. I love my role, and the passion and drive it gives me to ensure everyone receives a fun and fulfilled lifestyle, which is person-centred to them.


I love being creative, I sing in my spare time alongside playing the electric guitar, and piano and also writing my own music. I look forward to my journey here at Cheverton Lodge, and bringing lots of fun!

I bring over 20 years of experience in IT, combined with a hands-on approach developed from assisting his mechanic father. My expertise in troubleshooting and fixing a wide range of issues makes me an invaluable asset to our team. Having transitioned from property maintenance to Barchester, I am eager to embrace new challenges and contribute to our dynamic team. My unique blend of technical skills and practical experience ensures that our facilities are maintained to the highest standards, providing a safe and comfortable environment for our residents.

Novelette joined Cheverton Lodge in October 2001 as a Healthcare Assistant and has continued to develop her skills and vocation further and is now a senior carer. Novelette love's to support residents and her team and is passionate about delivering holistic healthcare to residents.

Tahmina Begun

Job Title: Carer and Dementia Champion Joined: 2022

Tahmina joined to Cheverton Lodge in 2022 as health care assistant and has continued to develop her knowledge and became the dementia champion in 2023 . Tahmina has a special interest in supporting those living with dementia and ways on continually improving the care and experience of people living with dementia at Cheverton Lodge. Tahmina completed Tier 2 dementia training and attends the dementia champion training sessions on a regular basis.
