My mum was at the upland care home for nearly 4 months and pass away and her finally care was in the hospital.

When I first first visited the home the Manger was very welcoming and the staff seemed very friendly. There was a few nurses and carers that was great. And when they were not there it was terrible, there was a few times where my mum was wearing the same clothes the next day, there was times where she smelled, even times where she was really hungry. My mum was on the first floor, entering the lift it smelt terrible walking along the towards mum room the hallway smelt horrible. There was aways 2 male resident shouting for help and no one would look in to see if they were alright. On two occasion a male resident had a black eye. It was frightening to see. In the dining area had to be closed off due to having coach roaches. There was so many things that Me and my family were unhappy with, and when I first told the Manager about my concerns she changed towards me

The day to day care my sister receives is very good. I find the staff very caring they listen to the residents. Of course the residents get confused and often repeat the same questions but I have never seen any of the staff get annoyed or even be irritated. The management staff are excellent and very caring they know all the residents names and all the residents know who they are and even know the managers name, in spite of their Alzheimer's shows how good this care home is

Making the decision to put Dad in a home wasn't easy. We're pleased however with the decision that we made to move Dad to Abbey Uplands Care Home. We visited the home to view it and were met by Dahlia (the Manager) who was very friendly, warm and welcoming. She had no problem answering our questions and she really put us at ease. She allowed us to take our time and, even though our visit was later in the day, she patiently showed us around and answered all of our questions without rushing us. We had made our minds up by the time we left that Dad would be happy at Abbey Uplands Care Home. On Dad's first day, he was greeted by Dahlia and her staff which we found touching. Nothing is too much. The staff are attentive and friendly. It's taken Dad time to settle into his new environment but the staff treat him with care and compassion. He is doing really well. My family and I can't thank you all enough for the wonderful work that you do!! THANKYOU!!

Mum was only in Uplands Care Home for 3 weeks before she passed away but the home looked after her fantastically well. The staff were a joy to be around and all the residents were happy. This care home is clean and well maintained and if you are having doubts about having to put a loved one into care don't worry as this home is fantastic.

My husband was admitted in the late stages of cancer. He was in occasional pain when admitted. In uplands the palliative care was greatly improved. The care that he received for the last two weeks of his life was excellent, he died peacefully, I was with him.

Also we (my adult children and myself) were welcomed anytime and were treated with great kindness.

My mother has been in Uplands for ten years. In all that time she has been treated with respect and dignity. She is always clean, well-fed and lovingly taken care of. Some of the staff have been there since she arrived. All the staff are friendly and very caring. They all pop by to say hello when I visit. I couldn't wish for any better for my mum.

My sister has been in Uplands for over a year now. The Nurses there are very good but the actual carers are not very caring at all. My sister is bedridden and can't do a lot for herself. When asking for the bed pan she's told she can only ask 4 times a day which I find totally disgusting. She finds it very hard to even get a drink opened for her. She will press her bell and then will be told someone will be there shortly. Quite often an hour or so later she is still waiting. When I complain to management I get fobbed off with excuses. I have recently been given a letter almost doubling my sister's rent because they say she needs more care. Bearing in mind she has no different to when she first went there. The doubling of the rent in my book is horrendous. I think she should be getting gold service care for the amount they want. It's been quoted over £3000 a week.

I was a resident from 1st March 2024 to 4th July 2024. Amongst the nursing staff, carers and maintenance staff I met some of the kindest and most caring people I have ever known. The medical condition I went in with improved and healed so much while I was there.

My criticisms are that the place was very noisy, in the night as well as the day and the food very poor. I was told that the company had been taken over in February of this year (2024)

I have been the main carer and designated next of kin for a dear family friend for the last five years of his life in the dementia unit at Uplands. During his time there he was treated with kindness, dignity and respect and every effort was made to encourage him with his music (he was still able to play cocktail piano pieces in his 92nd year) As his carer, I was also treated with courtesy and respect. Any concerns I had were always taken seriously and staff were always willing to discuss his changing needs.

Didn't start out too well but after a few hiccups resolved, more care and attention was paid to my husband. Staff were caring but needed prompting regarding certain things, towards end-of-life staff were more diligent and on the ball. Management good and very helpful.

All the staff at Uplands have been amazing, my father is happy and well cared for. I believe without the care of Uplads he would no longer be with us. My mum visits regularly and is welcomed by the team, nothing is too much trouble. The new management are making great progress in updating facilities and consulting relatives' opinions. It's the best care I could have imagined for my father.
