We had a lovely tea for Mum today, and the staff made it an extra special time by dressing for the occasion, singing along to some of Mum's favourite songs, arranging for a cream tea and just making her time, a lovely memory. Mum was treated like the Queen she is and was even bought a crown by one of
the carers. Carers here never fail to make her (my mummy) feel loved. Thank you.

My family and I are delighted with the care and attention given to my husband at St Vincents. He likes the staff and he likes the food. To quote my husband, "they offer to help you, you don't have to ask". With my husband's many serious illnesses, St Vincents really has been a Godsend. Thank you all.

The location of St Vincents is close to Mum's previous address. The building itself was put together in such a special construction. The layout - internally has been well thought out with all spaced used very well. St Vincents security is undoubtedly paramount sufficient being constructing in any way.
Every staff member is immaculately turned out in appearance. The summer garden party I tended was a very special afternoon, I will remember always. Thank you.

My uncle, who sadly passed away the end of December 2020 aged 85, had the luxury of spending his last three months at St Vincents House. He was a very private man and had lived in the Hammersmith area for 38-years in a room in a house he shared. His health declined quite considerably middle part of
2020, and he was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia, a rapid declining type of dementia. It was obvious, he could not return home, so he was accepted at St Vincents. From the very first moment he was admitted, both the admin team and the nursing team kept myself and my mother informed daily whilst he settled in. My uncle was a very difficult person to look after due to his condition, and so the nursing team provided ongoing updates as to his progress, almost on a daily basis. I cannot praise the staff enough for how they attended to his needs during this time and involved the visiting GP in our updates. I would not hesitate to recommend this home at all for any family member.

The management and staff at St Vincents were very friendly, caring and professional while my aunt was under their care. The looked after her extremely well at a difficult time with the covid-19 restrictions. We had regular contact with her, and in her final days, personal visits. We were well informed
by the nursing staff of her wellbeing. We are happy as a family her final months were at St Vincents with lovely, caring people.

The staff are very friendly, caring and my mum spent nearly 2 years in this care home.
My mum passed today 23/9/20. Staff were brilliant, couldn't do enough for us and allowed us enough time to say our goodbyes.
Would recommend this care home to anyone.

This was a short stay (one week) while I had some hospital treatment. Although it was short notice the staff responded with consideration and efficiency. During the time my wife was there the home was in lockdown so I cannot comment specifically about the facilities, however, the staff and management
were excellent. My wife was well cared for and I am pleased I found a place for her in this home.

My mother has now been resident at St Vincent's for three months. My brothers and I are very happy with the care she is receiving. The staff are, of course, attentive and professional, however, the most important thing is that they are so kind, patient and caring.
It is a huge relief to the whole
family that our mother is being cared for with respect, patience and kindness.

My father's been at St Vincents for two years with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, so his needs are complex.
He is always treated with love and affection by the staff: that extra time staff spend chatting with him, an extra smile or a stroke of his hand. I often see very caring staff go the extra mile,
be it how tenderly they feed Dad, wash him or how they help him dress.
Under the caring, upbeat and watchful stewardship of the manager (14/06/19) any concerns I have about Dad’s care-plan are immediately dealt with. This manager will always try to improve my father’s care with advice, prompt action and bucket-loads of empathy, whilst encouraging an ethos of never resting on laurels and always trying to improve life for the residents.
My father is brilliant, loved and special - like so many of the residents - so please... keep being brilliant, St Vincents, keep trying to improve even when things are going well, and please keep those smiles… they mean the world.
A big thank you.

No registered manager since 19/04/18 - 5 managers in 1 year.
In September 2018 this home appointed the 5th manager since March 2018.
The last CQC-registered manager left in April 2018.
Many managers are totally unaccountable due to inappropriate qualifications (not CQC registered, not NMC registered,
not HCPC registered).
Legal, administrative and admission procedures are of very poor quality.
Likewise, there have been 4 clinical leads in the last year.
This vertiginous staff turnover has led to the loss of information, lack of continuity and poor quality care.
This is not in the best interests of any of the residents in this home, many of whom suffer from dementia.
I simply cannot understand such a situation.
It is a fact that my mother, a resident, has greatly suffered from these anomalies.
Reply from Amy Wilson, AD at St Vincent's HouseThank you for taking the time to submit your comment. We are currently recruiting for a new home manager at St Vincent’s House, but I would like to assure you that there is always a fully trained and qualified support manager in place at the home whilst we find the right person for the role permanently. We are very proud of the team at St Vincent’s House, all of whom are fully qualified for their individual jobs and undergo ongoing training and assessment in order to continue to deliver excellent care every day to residents, including to those living with dementia. We will keep residents, their family members and friends, up-to-date with the home manager recruitment for the home and hope to be able to introduce a new home manager in the near future to you all – however, please do let us know at any time if you have any comments or suggestions and we will be happy to help.

The staff are kind and pleasant. The home is kept clean. If it weren't for the diabolical food I would give top marks. The food through is truly 'deadly' (my mother's description). She has dementia but was a really good cook, who used the best ingredients she could afford on a modest budget and deserves
a lot better in terms of nutrition.
She is living on milk - abundant supply of cold milk and what we bring in. I've seen many evening meals - plates of slop, stew type stuff with sliced white bread, yuck. I would rather starve than eat it myself.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Marketing Support Administrator at St Vincent's HouseThank you for taking the time to review St Vincent’s House, and for your kind words and excellent scores, particularly for the team in the home. I am sorry to hear your feedback on the food in the home and this is an area we are currently working hard on, so we hope you have already started to see improvements. We have, for example, introduced a snack tray that goes around the home every morning and in the afternoon we have cakes on each floor too for residents to enjoy. We are training our chef team in the home to improve the appearance of meals that are served, and will shortly be introducing homemade fruit smoothies with delicious recipes that will change daily. If there are any meals, snacks or drinks that you and your mother would like to see added to the menu, then, of course, please do let us know and we’ll do our best to add these. Thank you again for your feedback, and please do let us know now or at any time in the future if you have any comments, feedback or suggestions.

My husband, who is very difficult to deal with at times, has been very kindly treated by the staff at all times.
The rooms are very pleasant, light, well furnished and decorated. The garden room, garden, tea room and cinema room are particularly pleasant.
The activities listed on the schedule have
not invariably been available, though I think this will probably improve.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.872)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.872) out of 10 for St Vincent's House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.872 for St Vincent's House is calculated as follows: ( (206 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 235 Ratings = 4.872
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Vincent's House is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 92 registered maximum number of service users is 18.4, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I'm very proud that I started my career as a Nurse at St Vincent's House and have worked my way to Deputy Manager and now Home Manager.

Care UK is excellent at seeing the potential in colleagues and supporting them to develop their skills and expertise.

The team at St Vincent's House is very close-knit and hardworking. We support each other to do our best for residents and their families. There's always a lot to juggle each day. In my role I tackle anything from recruiting new team members to supporting colleagues with training, getting to grips with new policies and procedures, and liaising with relatives.

What I do is only possible with the support of our amazing team. They never cease to surprise me with their dedication and passion for what they do.
