The staff on duty during my Mum's final days ensured that she was kept clean and comfortable at all times. They also provided our family with all the support we needed and all of this was done with tenderness and dignity.
I found it amazing and touching that when staff finished their shifts they took the time to come and see my Mum and say their goodbyes before she passed away. I had always praised the team at Westwood House, but witnessing them taking the time to say goodbye and being emotionally affected, made me realise just how much they care about the residents.
I was especially impressed by the tenderness that they exercised in the last few days both to my mother, myself and my siblings who had gathered in vigil for the end.

Hayley joined Westwood House in 2025 as our Head Chef, bringing over 20 years of culinary experience and a passion for creating delicious, nutritious meals that bring people together.
Before joining Westwood House, Hayley worked at a luxury care home in Dartford, where she led a team of eight chefs and kitchen staff. She was responsible for menu planning, quality control and catering for around 75 residents, while also helping to deliver a bistro-style dining experience and private dining events.
Hayley believes that great food is at the heart of great care. She enjoys getting to know each resident, learning about their favourite meals and creating menus that reflect their tastes, preferences and nutritional needs. Her love of baking is especially appreciated, with homemade cakes and treats bringing smiles to residents and visitors alike.
With her warm, approachable nature and dedication to high-quality dining, Hayley plays an important role in creating enjoyable mealtimes and meaningful moments for everyone at Westwood House.
My name is Joanne Thompson, and I have been a part of the Westwood House team since 18th February 2020 as a Home Administrator.
I have worked within the care industry for over 15 years. I work alongside my General Manager and Clinical Lead, providing support in order to ensure that Westwood House runs efficiently and effectively at all times, providing a professional and dedicated service to everyone.
Within my role, I cover a number of different functional areas, including Finance, Recruitment, Human Resources, Learning & Development and Customer Experience. I am a highly motivated individual and am committed to ensuring that we provide a person-centred approach in every aspect.
I am the Maintenance Manager at Westwood House and have been here for almost 9 years now. I am responsible for ensuring that the home is meeting all Health & Safety requirements and fire Legislation requirements.
I am happy to help you personalise your loved one's bedrooms with the placing of pictures and personal possessions.
Since joining Westwood House, I've discovered just how much a meaningful activity can brighten someone's day. I love getting to know our residents, learning about their interests and life stories, and using that to create activities that are enjoyable, inclusive, and personal to them.
Whether we're celebrating a special occasion, getting creative with arts and crafts, enjoying quizzes and games, exercising together, or heading out on a community trip, my goal is always to make sure everyone feels involved and has something to look forward to.
The best part of my job is seeing residents smile, laugh, share memories, and build friendships. It's incredibly rewarding to know that even the smallest moments can make a real difference. I'm proud to be part of the Westwood House family and look forward to creating many more happy memories with our residents and their loved ones.
I am Claude, the Unit Manager of Memory Lane at Westwood House Care Home. I am passionate about providing compassionate, person-centred dementia care that promotes dignity, independence, and quality of life for every resident. Throughout my nursing career, I have had the privilege of supporting older people and their families, and I understand the importance of creating a safe, familiar, and reassuring environment for those living with memory loss.

My name is Beverley Taylor, and I am a Staff Nurse at Westwood House Care Home, part of Barchester Healthcare. I have been a Registered Nurse since 2002, after graduating from King’s College University.
I spent over 20 years working at King’s College Hospital, where I was based in the Renal Dialysis and High Dependency Unit. Throughout my career there, I developed strong clinical and leadership skills and eventually retired in 2024 as a Ward Manager. My time in the NHS shaped me into the nurse I am today and gave me a deep appreciation for high standards, teamwork, and compassionate care. In November 2024, I joined Westwood House Care Home, where I now use my experience to care for older adults and residents living with dementia.
I am passionate about providing person-centred care and ensuring residents feel safe, respected, and valued. I genuinely enjoy working with the team at Westwood House. Building strong relationships with both colleagues and residents is very important to me, and I take pride in helping create a warm, family-like environment. I believe strongly in a whole-team approach to care, where communication, support, and collaboration are key.
I truly love my role and look forward to coming to work each day, knowing I am part of a team that works together to provide the best possible care for our residents.
I originally came to the UK from India in 2022 and joined Barchester Healthcare as a Senior Carer. Although my ambition was always to continue my nursing career, I was unable to come to the UK as a Registered Nurse initially. With Barchester’s support and encouragement, I successfully completed my CBT and OSCE examinations, obtained my NMC PIN, and progressed into my role as a Registered Nurse.
I am proud to be part of the team at Westwood House, where I work alongside dedicated colleagues who are committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care. Barchester has played an important role in my professional development, and I am grateful for the opportunities I have been given to grow my career.
I am passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of our residents by providing compassionate, individualised care. Outside of work, I enjoy listening to music and watching movies, which help me relax and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
My journey to becoming a nurse began when I moved from India to the UK in 2023 as an international nursing student, leaving my family behind to follow my dream. After graduating in 2026, I was proud to begin my career with Barchester Healthcare, where I found not just a job, but a welcoming and supportive community.
I am now part of the wonderful team at Westwood House Barchester Care Home, and I truly enjoy coming to work every day. From the very beginning, I have felt supported, valued, and encouraged to grow professionally. Barchester is committed to helping its colleagues develop and progress in their careers, and I am grateful to be part of such a caring and inspiring team. Outside of nursing, I have a real passion for drawing, and I hope to share this with our residents by introducing creative art activities that encourage self-expression, conversation, and enjoyment.
