Review from Steven D (Son of Resident) published on 31 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
Moving Mum into a care home was one of the hardest decisions our family has ever had to make. From the moment she arrived, the team have treated her with kindness, patience and dignity, which has made a huge difference to both Mum and us as a family.
Communication has been excellent, and I always feel listened to if I have any questions or concerns. It's clear the staff genuinely care about the residents and work incredibly hard even on the difficult days.

Knowing mum is safe, comfortable and cared for has given us real peace of mind during a very challenging time. Thank you all for your compassion, dedication and the support you've shown Mum and our family. We truly appreciate everything you do.

Overall, I think the staff are amazing for what they have to do. Definitely could do with working less hours with what they have to see and do, let alone the stress, for little money, I would assume?

But I personally would like to thank everyone for helping my uncle Michael.

Review from Charles C (Son of Resident) published on 27 November 2025 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Windmill Lodge was home to my mum for the last 3 years of her life. I want to say the staff were amazing. They were far more than just employees they really cared for my mum and her two sons. By the end, they were like new members of her and our family. This was made even more obvious as the staff have remained so consistent during my mums stay, that you really got to know them as people. Mum bonded with the residents around here as she entered the twilight of her years, and I will be forever grateful for that. Please pass on my thanks.

I don't really have anything to compare with, so I'm not sure how useful this will be. My mother seems happy there. She gets fed regularly and seems to like it there, which is, of course, important. There is one resident who calls out a lot that she needs help and seems to be ignored. Probably because she is always calling out.

My mum has been at Windmill Lodge for 2 years now. She has always been excellently looked after with compassion, kindness and empathy. Mum is always clean and tidy and her room is spotless. The food is lovely, always freshly cooked with a good choice of menu each day. I can relax and feel less worried about mum knowing that she is in this safe and caring environment. I have nothing but huge praise for each and every member of staff for their valuable input in my mums daily care.

We were dreading our good friend leaving hospital and going into a care home but Windmill has exceeded our expectations. You can see the staff really care and they are always polite and professional. Our friend who is now resident has difficulty speaking but you can see he has no fear in his eyes. He has acclimatised to the home and you can see he is safe and contented. In particular, thank you to 5 members of staff and the rest of the staff on the 2nd floor.
