Windmill Lodge was home to my mum for the last 3 years of her life. I want to say the staff were amazing. They were far more than just employees they really cared for my mum and her two sons. By the end, they were like new members of her and our family. This was made even more obvious as the staff have
remained so consistent during my mums stay, that you really got to know them as people. Mum bonded with the residents around here as she entered the twilight of her years, and I will be forever grateful for that. Please pass on my thanks.

I don't really have anything to compare with, so I'm not sure how useful this will be. My mother seems happy there. She gets fed regularly and seems to like it there, which is, of course, important. There is one resident who calls out a lot that she needs help and seems to be ignored. Probably because
she is always calling out.

My mum has been at Windmill Lodge for 2 years now. She has always been excellently looked after with compassion, kindness and empathy. Mum is always clean and tidy and her room is spotless. The food is lovely, always freshly cooked with a good choice of menu each day. I can relax and feel less worried
about mum knowing that she is in this safe and caring environment. I have nothing but huge praise for each and every member of staff for their valuable input in my mums daily care.

We were dreading our good friend leaving hospital and going into a care home but Windmill has exceeded our expectations. You can see the staff really care and they are always polite and professional. Our friend who is now resident has difficulty speaking but you can see he has no fear in his eyes. He
has acclimatised to the home and you can see he is safe and contented. In particular, thank you to 5 members of staff and the rest of the staff on the 2nd floor.

Very happy with the care received here for our mother. Since she came to the care home she has been very well cared for by the nursing and personal care staff. There is a wonderfully relaxed 'buzz' about the place. Particularly impressed with the relationship with the local kindergarten which brings
smiles to everyone's faces.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to the staff in Windmill Lodge. Their friendly and professional attitude cannot be overlooked. The care and consideration they gave my uncle while he was with them was excellent. In fact, he became more of a family member to the staff. Everyone got to meet "Samson"
his favourite teddy who was never missing from the room. While he had a hard time settling in the first few days of moving to the home due to a change in his circumstances, the staff made him comfortable and relaxed. The atmosphere made it easier for me to relax knowing he is having some of the best care possible.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.824)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.824) out of 10 for Windmill Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.824 for Windmill Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (284 Excellents x 5) + (52 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 340 Ratings = 4.824
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Windmill Lodge Care Home is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 93 registered maximum number of service users is 18.6, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
