  • Alexander Court Care Centre, Dagenham
Alexander Court is a modern and purpose-built home specialising in the provision of nursing care and located in Dagenham. With 80 rooms, all of which are en-suite, the décor is bright and modern, creating a sense of ‘home’ and comfort.

Residents can enjoy a variety of communal areas with different facilities. This includes areas in which to relax and have calm time, or busier environments where residents might take part in an activity or meet with friends and relatives. The home benefits from its own café and bar, which is greatly enjoyed by the residents, particularly during quiz and activity sessions.

A multicultural care team works hard to adapt to the varying needs of the residents, a broad and interesting activity programme, keeping people active whilst they are here, from taking part in exercise sessions to spending time reminiscing or enjoying performances together.

I was dreading visiting my grandmother since her fall. The level of cleanliness, facilities, comfort for the residents, and attention to detail from the staff was amazing. Thank you! She’s so happy and has really put my mind at rest.

My husband was a resident at Alexander Court for 18 months until he sadly passed away in August 2020. I am very thankful to all the staff for how my husband was cared for and how he was very well looked after. I found the staff to be very approachable and I could always speak to them about any concerns
and they would always make me feel welcome. I wish the home and staff the very best for the future.

I have been bowled over by the staff's handling of the pandemic. I have had regular face-time contact with my mum and now I am even visiting once a fortnight in their safely managed secure garden. Everyone has been caring and understanding. Well Done.

The family chose Alexander Court after visiting 4 other care homes. It immediately felt homely and friendly, from the receptionist onwards. Since the 3 years Mum has been there, carpet replacement in the corridor and decorating has been carried out. Talking to the chef at one of the regular relative's
meetings he seemed happy with the kitchen equipment provided. He and his staff give residents the type of food they want, plus new menus for them to try. The activity ladies offer an alternative to staying their rooms or lounge, by getting them to use their memories and coordination often through music - excellent. The nurses are very friendly, professional and patient with the residents. The carers who, despite Mum's sometimes challenging behaviour, somehow managed to cope with the work they have to do. I must not forget the often unseen staff such as the administrator, housekeeping, laundry, cleaners, handyman etc. The manager seems very capable, approachable and has the residents and relatives interests at heart and welcomes input and suggestions.

My Mum was on end of life. The care home was Alexander Court. Mum was a resident for 7 years. The care throughout was unbelievable. She was treated with dignity all the time. I could not have asked for better and Mum's last 3 weeks were so peaceful and all the staff were so kind, as though she was their
Mum. I would like to thank the Manager and all the day and night staff for their help.

My father was a resident of this care home albeit for a short time (Nove 2017 - April 2018) until his death on 3/4/18. During the 5 months, he was there the care and support he received was outstanding. This also helped us as a family taking away a lot of stress and worry during dads final months.
Nothing
was too much trouble for the staff.
Dad was always comfortable and clean.

The staff make this place a kind and caring care home.
The building lacks investment, it needs refurbishing.
The cooking smells are overpowering when you enter or walk through the corridors.
For this reason, I wouldn't want to be a resident.
Wonderful staff who were absolutely amazing.
Thank you
so much for taking such good care of my late mother.

I have found Alexander Court to have friendly, helpful staff.
There is a warm atmosphere and I think the staff genuinely care about the residents.
I believe the care home would benefit from a bit of updating with new décor and furniture.
Management communication could be better but overall I was
happy with everything.

My father went in respite for one week and I was very worried at first having to put him in a home but I found the staff very good.
All the staff were polite, caring and on hand for every need. I would have no doubt about sending my dad there again. He felt quite at home there and I didn't have to
worry and had the rest that I needed.

He enjoyed staying in the care home, he felt cared for, concerned for and secure. The staff took responsibility to look after him, bathed him and accompanied him to the shops. I am very appreciative!

I cannot stress how much all the staff at Alexander Court cared for my uncle with care, understanding, dignity, support even when times were very challenging. They work very hard and kept me informed every step of the way. Especially Daffodil ward. They are always smiling even when things become difficult,
my sincere thanks to them all.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.911)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.911) out of 10 for Alexander Court Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.462 for Alexander Court Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (67 Excellents x 5) + (41 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 119 Ratings = 4.462
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.449 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Alexander Court Care Centre is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 82 registered maximum number of service users is 16.4. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 16.4 = 0.549
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
