My husband's first Respite break at the care home in May this year was ok. The most recent break was a different story. On day three I was called to say the home could no longer care for his needs and that I needed to pick him up. On his assessment I stated that he was now becoming more demanding and prone to verbal abuse and aggressive outbursts. On the website where levels of care are listed it has advanced complex dementia. To me that definition should cover all levels of care for dementia. If you don't have the necessary specialty care then you should stipulate this and save a lot of time and effort for those seeking care for their relatives.

I am very happy with the Care my mother gets at Amberley Lodge. Nothing is too much trouble for the team meaning she settled in very quickly. She feels she is at home. Takes a lot of the worry away we had prior to her admittance.

We cannot speak highly enough of Amberley Lodge and the wonderful care our husband and father has received over the past eight years.
Throughout his time at the home, we have been consistently impressed by the high standard of care provided by every member of staff. The team are compassionate, professional, and genuinely committed to residents' wellbeing, treating them with kindness, dignity, and respect.
Whenever there have been medical concerns, staff have acted quickly to ensure he receives the attention he needs. Communication with the family is excellent, and we are always kept informed and updated, which gives us great peace of mind.
The food is another highlight, and special occasions are always celebrated beautifully. The chef regularly goes above and beyond, with the birthday cakes being particularly memorable.

We are grateful for the care, dedication, and support shown to our loved one over the years and would not hesitate to recommend Amberley Lodge to other families.

Firstly we felt at ease immediately arriving to view Amberley Lodge. Sean was extremely knowledgeable, reassuring and professional.
The care home felt like a home from home unlike other homes we had visited which felt more corporate.
Amberley Lodge clearly has a great team of staff, from Sean, Daria, Shackae, Shellie, Novelette, Reception staff, Solomee, Delvin, night staff, to name but a few have all been supportive to my uncle and us as a family at a time when it was really needed.
We have felt at ease knowing my lovely, gentle, kind uncle is being well looked after.
So much effort is made with activities, beautiful food and organisation.

I also personally love to see the staff engage with my uncle and really are trying to get to know him.

Grandad has been in for respite care this May. He's having a good time, being well fed and looked after. He's had really positive experiences with the carers and so have all of us coming to visit. The carers are very supportive and helpful and cheerful. We have loved coming in to visit and grandad has always been in good spirits.

Mum has been at Amberley since 2021, and is very happy there. It honestly feels like home to her and the attention she receives is both personal and stimulating. Over the years, mum and her immediate family have come to enjoy their time at Amberley. I can't praise the staff enough - kind, patient and enthusiastic. Mum is always busy with celebrations, parties, cinema, knitting and lots of other fun activities. Anne & Sam, the activities coordinators, bring such an enhancement to mum's day, and having begun the experience during Covid times without this, we are now so grateful. Mum is kept active, stimulated and supported and they work around her energy levels which vary from day-to-day.

Mum recently celebrated her 79th birthday and they put on a little party for us, including a tasty lunch and a splendid cake (beautiful and tasty). Thanks to the wonderful chef - nothing was too much bother. Mum was made to feel very special and a number of the carers popped in to wish her well.

Mum stayed at Amberley Lodge for 4 weeks respite care.
Pre-admission paperwork was straightforward and the home welcomed visits from several family members to provide reassurance. Some initial medical-related 'teething issues' were quickly resolved, including regular visits by the home's GP.
Mum settled in quickly and well. She particularly enjoyed the activities programme and company of other residents. She was well cared for and very well fed!

I wouldn't hesitate to use Amberley Lodge for future respite or permanent care if need arises

My wife has Alzheimer's Disease, and came to Amberley Lodge for almost a month while I recovered from an operation. From my first visit, when researching somewhere for my wife to go, I was impressed by the bright, airy and friendly atmosphere. There always seemed to be plenty of staff around, and visiting is welcomed at any time.
I was apprehensive how my wife would cope - being "catapulted" into strange surroundings - but to my surprise, delight, and relief, she settled amazingly quickly and happily in her new environment.

I will have confidence bringing her here again.

I am writing to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at Amberley Lodge for making our mother's 101st birthday celebrations with the family on Sunday, 4th January 2026, so incredibly special. The meticulous attention to detail, from preparing the coffee room to putting up decorations, was truly commendable. The birthday cake prepared by Gilroy, the chef, was an absolute masterpiece and added a delightful touch to the occasion. Your unwavering support ensured the day was filled with joy and cherished memories. Thank you all!

My mother arrived at Amberley in February 2025 - very confused, not sleeping or eating properly and in need of specialist dementia care. We were very surprised how quickly she became contented, gaining weight, sleeping, having been welcomed and inducted into the home by the manager and very caring staff. Her biggest risk was falling and that has been well managed but she did fall recently and required two weeks in hospital with fractured ribs and consequential breathing issues. In hospital she needed constant supervision as she became very confused and was at risk of further falls. The home assessed the risk of returning to Amberley and waited to see how she adapted before determining whether to implement one to one care. This has not been necessary as she has adapted easily and is contented again. The staff clearly enjoy having her and adapt sensibly so that she has as much independence as is possible given the risks knowing that she retains a strong will to be self reliant.

He was was happy to come back home but very emotional to leave Amberley Lodge - he said "thank you - you have all been wonderful".

A caring and safe environment. Amberley is like a large family where residents, staff, and resident's family are all involved. All are supported and made to feel welcome. Communication is first rate and two way. Daily activities where residents are encouraged to participate but not compelled, with a number extended to whole family. The recognition and care of dementia is of a high standard and reassuring. The staff team have got to know individual residents needs and ways and this is reflected in their care and support.

All of the staff are very helpful and take care of my niece. Her room and bed are always very clean and tidy. She is always dressed in her day clothes and appears to be quite happy with everybody that comes in to attend to her. They all treat her respectfully and she reacts to them comfortably. The Lounge on her floor has been very nicely renovated. The addition of a coffee shop on the ground floor is really welcome and nice to sit in and to have coffee with her when she is well enough. The coffee and confectionery are complimentary and very nice. Thank you all so much. Also the lady that l saw doing the cleaning did a very very good job and l did have to thank her and compliment her then and l will again now. Reception and admin are always very helpful as well. Thank you everyone at Amberley Lodge. Thanks to you all.

My wife is looked after very well and all the staff are helpful.
I am not in good health myself, so I am so grateful to know she is in safe hands with this terrible affliction.
The home is easily accessed by bus now I no longer drive and the coffee shop is a nice facility.

Cost is a worry but hopefully, she will be able to remain there for her latter years.

My aunt has been in Amberley Lodge on a permanent basis since March. As the care home is purpose built the rooms and facilities are excellent. What really makes the care home stand out is the quality and caring nature of all the staff. This applies across the board from reception, domestic staff, chefs, handyman, management and of course carers. There is a range of activities available to residents and the home arranges a lot of events which families are invited along to.

Azalea Moses
Azalea MosesJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2016

I have a nursing degree as well as an MBA from the University of Wales. I started my career with Care UK when I joined Amberley Lodge as a Senior Nurse in 2016. It was an exciting move as Care UK has a superb reputation for its vision of care and the support it gives to its colleagues.

I’ve seen the company’s high-quality approach to care in action at Amberley Lodge; it was a privilege to be part of the team that achieved an ‘outstanding’ CQC rating in 2018. Now to be the home’s Manager is something truly special.

I love spending time with residents and colleagues to find out how their day is going and look for ways I can support them to enjoy their day to the full. We’re one big family - relatives, residents and colleagues all look out for each other. I look forward to welcoming you to Amberley Lodge very soon.
