Ashwood Care Home is a modern, three-storey building providing specialist residential and 24-hour nursing care for older residents.

All rooms are en-suite and are freshly decorated throughout. Residents are welcome to bring items of personal furnishings to the home to make their room familiar and comfortable.

The home has a number of communal areas for personal or group enjoyment and the multicultural care team work hard to adapt to the varying needs of residents.

The focus is on delivering high standards of personalised care to those living within the home, which is often praised for being a warm and friendly environment and where residents are supported in their personal choices, hobbies and interests.

My 98-year-old father was transferred to Ashwood Care Centre on Friday the 4th of March from the hospital. He was bedridden, with no short-term memory, and very fearful and anxious following a five-week stay in hospital after a mild stroke and treatment for Covid-19. Although he is still bedridden,
his anxiety and fear have lessened considerably and I would say he seems happy and settled. This, I believe, is due to the loving care, attention, kindness, and interaction of the staff that they show and give him, and their perception of his needs. I have nothing but the highest praise.

My mother is a resident on the first floor of Ashwood Care Centre and yesterday 13th April 2022 it was her 90th birthday. I wanted to make it a special day. When I arrived along with other members of the family I was amazed at the great work the staff had done in decorating her room with banners etc.
Throughout the rest of the day, all members of staff at various times would pop in and wish my mum a happy birthday then at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon they arrived with a lovely cake which they had made and sang happy birthday, which I found very moving. Overall I found the whole day a great experience and want to thank all staff for all their great work throughout the day. My mum has been in the centre for nearly a year now, bedridden, and all members of staff have been so kind and helpful towards her. I am so impressed with the care and dedication towards my mother at Ashwood. Once again many thanks to all for such a great day.

Can't fault the manager and the nursery staff at Ashwood. They were very helpful at a very difficult time and did their utmost to settle Mum in. Mum's room is nicely decorated, and this helps because Mum is used to a homely environment. Mum has done really well since moving in, and I believed this is
due to the care and attention given to her.

Since moving Mum to Ashwood she has been so happy. She has made a lot of new friends. Mum tells me every day how lovely the staff are and I can see that for myself. Nothing is too much trouble. I really am so relieved to have Mum at Ashwood and can't thank you enough. You really are angels.

From the moment we contacted Ashwood for some initial information until the moment mum died, the staff, manager, and admin staff have been friendly, supportive, and highly professional. They got to know mum very quickly and did everything they could to make her comfortable and as happy as possible.
They all included us, the family too, making us feel welcome and informed. All this in another wave of covid which they took seriously and adapted to seemingly every week as it changed. We cannot thank them enough for mum's care in the last stage of her life.

If I am honest I think Ashwood needs a coat of paint, it needs updating, it looks old and tired. But..it is extremely clean and the staff are amazing, kind, caring and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble, my mum loved it there. They included her in many activities, she had lots of friends in the care
staff. I was very happy to leave her at Ashwood and she was very happy to be there.

My dad was in Ashwood Care Centre for 2 years. At first, when I looked at the reviews, I was in two minds about what to do. But I can say it was one of the best decisions we have made. The care home really looked after dad and he loved staying there. All the staff were so friendly and polite, they consider
us as their family. If anything happened to dad we would get a call straight away.

Mum has been a resident for 3 years and has always been treated well. Mum can be very challenging, but the staff deal with this amazingly. The staff also treat me as one of the family and I am updated all the time. I visit every day and I am welcomed.

It was an unexpected placement for my mother who I cared for at my home. I arrived in a distressed state, late at the door of the care home after hours as my mother was to be placed at Ashwood to be greeted by one of the managers who was a godsend to me at that time. The rest of the staff have been
the same since to help me and my mother. Any questions I have or concerns have been dealt with swiftly. The staff are lovely to me and Mum. I visit every day.

My mother was at Ashwood - under NHS funding - our first experience with a nursing home. Ashwood has surpassed all expectations, over and above. Every single member of staff needs to receive a medal for the work they do. Our 90-year-old mother was cared for in an exceptional and human way.

My father, before he came in, was becoming very difficult to manage because of his frailty. He has improved vastly since being here. The constant care he receives means he is much more relaxed and he's become a much more healthy person, even gaining weight. He is no longer distressed and it is of great
comfort to our family knowing his medical needs are met. I could not imagine him getting the same care anywhere else.
