Ashwood Care Home is a modern, three-storey building providing specialist residential and 24-hour nursing care for older residents.

All rooms are en-suite and are freshly decorated throughout. Residents are welcome to bring items of personal furnishings to the home to make their room familiar and comfortable.

The home has a number of communal areas for personal or group enjoyment and the multicultural care team work hard to adapt to the varying needs of residents.

The focus is on delivering high standards of personalised care to those living within the home, which is often praised for being a warm and friendly environment and where residents are supported in their personal choices, hobbies and interests.

My 2nd cousin has been here nearly 3 months and loves it. She looks so much happier, cleaner and healthier than when she lived with family and had carers 4 times a day.

Very caring to residents and to the relatives, giving hugs when needed as it can be difficult visiting a loved one.
The carers are very kind and always have time to listen and look after the residents.

My mum has been at Ashwood for eighteen months. She has dementia and is always treated well.
The activities are really good and everyone is included (if they wish to be).
Staff are approachable.

I'm relatively new to this care home. At the beginning I was sceptical as the CQC had recently audited Ashwood and the results were not good, however once I had met with the care home manager, she explained that she had literally just taken over 6 days prior and assured me that she was going to turn
the care home around.


Since then the manager has worked relentlessly to improve the standard of care, activities and decor of the home. I attended my first meeting there last week and again it was reassuring to hear all the plans she has or is going to put in place in the very near future to turn this care home into an exceptional place for elderly relatives to stay, giving peace of mind that they are looked after well, their needs are met and they are allowed to live out the rest of their days safe and secure with excellent care.


I am looking forward to seeing these many changes and being able to participate with my cousin (94) to ensure his final days are as happy as they can be.
