My dad stayed here for two weeks and I cannot fault the care. The rooms were always clean and there is a good activity programme. All in all, a very good home which I would recommend.

When I visit my mum she seems quite happy and she gets nice meals which she enjoys and good entertainment.

Her room is good and it is always clean and tidy.

My partner has been treated very well from the word go. They like him, he likes them and when he is back to himself he will tell you this himself.

Nursing care first class from everyone. Huge kindness to my husband and myself. From day one, I trusted them completely. All our family were treated with respect through a difficult time.

My late mother spent almost a year at Ashbrook Nursing Home and during that time she was treated well and with empathy by the staff who are kind and thoughtful.
Since the addition of new management and the employment of a full-time activities staff member the home has become more vibrant.

My mum although suffering from dementia was happy and for us as a family that gives us comfort.

My mother stays on a regular respite basis. Every time she arrives she is greeted by staff using her name. She is made to feel welcome. She has been coming to this home for approximately two years on and off, but more regularly this year. She has always been happy to come here even though, at 97, there are limited things she can do - therefore it is how she is made to feel that counts. I am happy to leave my mother in the care of the hard-working staff - hats off to them all. I feel that things have become more organised of late and am very happy.

Staff were very helpful and caring. We would like to thank the staff and manager for their persistence in finding out the residents next of kin and also trying to locate his children. Thank you for looking after him.

Overall Experience

Ashbrook is not suitable for walkers or dementia patients. There is only one social area where the residents sit all day watching television and having their lunch, dinner and tea. Activities are next to none. Carers do their best, but are understaffed and poorly lead. There is a distinctive odour around the home that is quite unpleasant. So glad we found my dad another care home that is much better suited to his needs.

I have recently spent 3-4 weeks at Ashbrook for orthopaedic rehab and I found the experience very pleasant indeed. The carers were excellent, and the atmosphere kind and supportive. Nothing was too much trouble. I was especially impressed with the standards of cleaning and the staff delivering it, and the quality of the food.

I have recommended this nursing home because of the dedication of the staff and the excellent care my mother has received there. They have maintained high standards of pressure area care, nutrition and communication. We visited a number of other homes and none matched the kindness and professionalism of the manager and her dedicated team.
