I needed to find somewhere for my father, who has Parkinson’s and dementia, after he fell and broke his hip. He was being rushed out of hospital and we knew that we couldn’t cope at home with the constant nursing care he now needed. I went to look at Barchester Atfield House Care Home and was given a warm welcome. I was impressed how all the staff (even the cleaners!) knew the residents well and the home is immaculately clean. They were able to arrange a space for my father quickly and he’s now in a lovely room overlooking the park. He has settled well and enjoys the food. There are daily activities to take part in if he wants to. He is always well-groomed. My brother and I have peace of mind that he is well cared for 24 hours a day. We are able to visit whenever suits us. The staff are very responsive to any requests we make. I would highly recommend Atfield House.
Thank you for this lovely review. I am so happy that everything has worked out as we planned. I can assure your dad will continue to enjoy the quality of life he has had so far.
Clean environment.
Lovely atmosphere.
Thank you for your lovely review. It is a pleasure looking after your Mum and seeing her so content. The team look forward to seeing you next time you visit.
Always got clean clothes on and has had a shave done by Atfield.
Staff are always available to check on him.
Well done, Atfield team.
Thank you for this lovely review. I am so happy that everything has worked out as we planned. I can assure your granddad will continue to enjoy the quality of life he has had so far.
The care home is welcoming, and the staff members are so friendly and caring, including all the management and admin staff, the nurses and the carers. My mother's room is great. The additional facilities (restaurant, cafe, living room and hairdressers) enhance the experience of living there. I'm grateful I can take my mum to different areas of the home without having to leave it. I feel the specialised dementia unit serves its purpose well. Mum is well cared for, but at times, I feel she could be stimulated more with activities that are suitable for people with dementia. This is being addressed and hopefully improved further (meetings have been organised to support the relatives of residents with dementia). The food is good. I don't know if this is possible, but the smell in the dementia section isn't good. I understand the challenges of keeping smells at bay, but there's a difference between the main care home and the dementia section.
It is our absolute pleasure to have to your Mum stay with us; she settled in so well. Thank you for putting your trust in us, and thank you for such a lovely review. We can confirm that the carpet at the entrance at Memory Lane has been changed.
My brother is very well looked after. The staff are extremely nice. They keep me updated on my brother.
Dear Sandra, thank you very much for taking the time to share such a lovely review. I will gladly pass on your feedback to our team.
I have no complaints. The place works very well, everybody is very cooperative and takes excellent care of my wife. Long may it continue.
Thank you, Brian, for choosing us to look after your wife. We are so happy that you are happy and that everything has worked out so well so far. We will ensure the high standards continue.
The mother has been in respite care at Barchester Atfield House Care Home and has been very well looked after. The staff have all been lovely and never stop smiling. She has particularly enjoyed lunch in the dining room and walks in the pretty garden afterwards. All in all, her stay has been very successful.
Thank you for taking the time to review Atfield House and for your feedback, we are always looking to improve our service. We are pleased you are happy with your choice of home. I will pass your comments on to the team.
From being met on arrival in the car park to the group send-off after two weeks of respite care, the staff were always welcoming and professional in their demeanour. I won't hesitate using Atfield House again for my mother's care when I need an extended break from being a 24/7 carer.
Thank you for choosing us to look after your mum. It has been lovely getting to know her. We will ensure the high standards continue.
At a time of crisis when we were desperate to find a home for someone to go to after being in the hospital Barchester Atfield House Care Home could not have been more constructive or supportive. At a time of crisis, they were professional and reassuring and I am so grateful. Ongoing care has been personal and attentive which is also hugely appreciated.
Thank you for choosing us to look after your loved one. We will ensure the high standards continue.
Whenever we visit, we are always made welcome. The rooms and facilities are always in a good, clean order. The activities are making my aunt happy, and when it's time for us to leave, she's always smiling.

I needed post-operative care to learn to live without the use of my right arm. I needed to cope with dressing and undressing and personal care. All staff were excellent, thoughtful and helpful, just what I needed to build my confidence before going home. I enjoyed my interaction with them all. Lovely garden to sit in and read. I would recommend this post-operative experience.
Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a lovely review. I will gladly pass on your feedback to our team.
I made sporadic visits from February 2022 to May 2023 to visit my friend each time she was spotlessly clean and her hair looked nice. She loved the food but most of all the cheerful and patient care was wonderful. Despite never wanting to go in a home she was very happy there. An example of how homes should be run thanks to the manager and his excellent team.
Thank you very much for this review. It is so good to know this is how you feel. We are so fortunate to have continuity within our team which I think is key to everything. I will pass your comments on to the team.
My friend was in your care for about 18 months. I was so impressed with all your staff and the quality of the food. The team were so caring, full of kindness and warmth. My friend never wanted to be in a home but with you all at Atfield House led by the manager, she felt safe and surrounded by love. I cannot thank you enough.

My mother was admitted initially for respite but the family hoped for permanent at 101 years of age. In our family, we have one person who has been a volunteer inspector for the Quality Care Commission, a retired Social Services Purchaser of services for the elderly and a matron for acute admissions. All had reservations about using a care home, but we all agreed we have absolutely nothing to criticise in the care provided. Caring and helpful staff across all levels, wonderfully supportive when my mother sadly passed away. Highly recommended with our thanks.

This was just a short stay for end-of-life care. The organisation of the management and the kindness of carers made the experience as good as it could be.

My father has been at Barchester Atfield House Care Home for the past four months, I live in the United States. Sadly, he passed this past week, though I am thankful that I was able to spend his final days with him. The nurses, carers and reception have been absolutely magnificent. They kept me updated throughout his time there, including using video chat. Towards the end, they made sure he was comfortable and not in any pain. I am very grateful to everyone at Atfield for the care and compassion they showed him, while ensuring we as a family were kept informed.
Thank you for such an uplifting review. I think it says it all! You are right... we do all love what we do and it was great to have you as part of our Atfield family.
A wonderful home, they look after my aunty very well. Staff are very pleasant and caring. The home is very clean and welcoming. Beautiful gardens.
Thank you very much for your kind review. It's amazing to hear how much your mum has improved and is happy. Thanks again for taking the time to review.
We found the Atfield House facility atmosphere and ambiance calm and efficient with a very high level of care for the service user and visiting family members.
The positive approach of the care staff at Atfield House enabled Mother to progress from being bed bound, on discharge from hospital, to walking with a frame during her few weeks' stay.
We had a very positive experience and would be very happy to use Atfield House again.
Thank you for such an uplifting review. I think it says it all! You are right... we all love what we do and it was great to have you as part of our Atfield family.
The staff are always lovely and attentive. Very good meals are served in the beautiful dining room with tables for 3 and 4. Enjoyable activities are a regular feature and our aunt has improved greatly since coming to Atfield House Care Home.
Thank you very much for such a lovely review. All our team work hard to get to know our residents with our whole home approach and the continued commitment from all of the team. Thank you very much for your kind words.

He is an accomplished senior care leader and CQC Registered Manager. He has extensive experience across residential, nursing, dementia and complex care services, with a strong record of improving care quality, regulatory compliance, workforce stability and resident experience.
In his previous position, Isaac achieved full occupancy, eliminated reliance on agency staffing and led the service to secure a Good CQC rating across all five domains.
Isaac believes exceptional care should be as individual as the person receiving it. He places great importance on knowing each resident’s life story, preferences and aspirations, ensuring that care is thoughtfully tailored and delivered with dignity, warmth and close attention to detail.
His vision is for Atfield House to provide an exceptional standard of care and hospitality. Upholding a welcoming and vibrant home where residents flourish, families feel informed and reassured. Where colleagues take pride in delivering the very best every day.

My name is Prachi, and I am proud to be the Deputy Manager at Atfield House. With over 14 years of experience in the care sector, I believe that every individual deserves to be seen, heard, and valued for who they are. This belief is at the heart of the care I provide every day.
Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to offering compassionate, person-centred support. I hold a European Certification in Essential Palliative Care, founded and coordinated by Princess Alice Hospice, which has strengthened my ability to support residents and their families with dignity, understanding, and sensitivity during some of life’s most challenging times.
In my current role, I strive to create a warm, supportive environment where residents feel safe, respected, and truly at home. For me, caring for others is not just a profession; it is a privilege that I am honoured to uphold every day.
