I visited my father today at 11:20 am we were able to go up to his room where wonderful carers were helping him out of bed. I visited my father today at 11:20 am we were able to go up to his room where wonderful carers were helping him out of bed. We took him downstairs after this and went and sat in the pristine garden where we sat down and 2 members from the kitchen brought us out a pot of tea and biscuits. We sat in the garden with my father until lunchtime and he seemed very happy and chatty. We took him back inside and he asked to have his lunch in the dining room. We were able to sit with him during lunch and the kind staff offered us lunch which was appetizing. The facilities were clean and tidy with the staff all having smiles on their faces and treating us kindly.

My mother was a resident for 3 years at Barchester Brook House Care Home suffering from Alzheimer's. She recently passed away at the ripe old age of 98. The end of life care provided to my mother by the nurses and care assistants was first class. During the last days of my mum's life, the relatives were given 24-hour access and support. Also, the after death service was very much supportive and sympathetic.
Once more my family will be eternally grateful to the staff and management at Brook House for looking after our late Mother.

Summertime was a good experience at Brook House. Outdoor garden visits were well organised. They celebrated most festivals with activity coordinators and staff, though we missed the celebrations as were restricted. The photos/videos sent by the coordinator were very much appreciated by our overseas family too. Throughout the pandemic, we were given feedback as to what was going on at the care home. The indoor/cubicle visits with the speaker system is a brilliant idea. Recent facility to visit Mum indoors has been a great relief. We have been very happy with the care/management and all the staff. The Gwyneth and Hindu speaking staff makes a lot of difference in communication with residents, especially Mum relates to them and enjoys the activities with better understanding.

My only real concern is that communication is not their strong point, including it seems within the team.

From day one, I have received a good, friendly and kind reception and service from the management, especially the manager and the carer who took the extra trouble and care to make my stay comfortable, happy and made me feel at home. I am so pleased to recommend her for her kind, generous and loving care, service with a smile and made my stay pleasant and comfortable in my difficult time. I have a language problem and am a strict vegetarian, but despite that I have been well looked after. Providing me with my choice of TV programme on Netflix made my day. My mum has been a resident at Brook House for over 3 years now. Her needs are high so we did spend a lot of time in trying to choose the right place. I am glad we found Brook House. The last 2 months have been very tough for my Dad and I. We haven’t been able to see my mum during this pandemic. However, the support and communication from Brook House has been outstanding. Particularly as far as my elderly Dad is concerned. They realise how sad he is and the outpouring of love and care for him has been amazing. They recognise that it is not always about just the residents. They are always asking after him and regularly send pictures of my mum as well as facilitate video calls. They also drop food around to his house. All this goes on quietly and without fuss. They don’t shout this from the rooftops as some publicity stunt. They just do it. My mum meanwhile is being brilliantly looked after. This care home, in my opinion, stands apart from all the others.
