My dad moved into Charlotte House in June last year. Sadly, he passed away this May, so he spent just under a year there. Looking back, I can honestly say it was the happiest he had been for many years.
Dad loved winding up the staff with his sense of humour, and they always gave as good as they got. They treated him like a person, not just a resident, and that meant the world to both him and our family.
Every single member of staff, along with the management team, was absolutely amazing. They were kind, caring, respectful, and always willing to help, not only with Dad but with all of us as a family. Nothing ever seemed too much trouble.

I will always be grateful to everyone at Charlotte House for making my dad's final year so happy, safe, comfortable, and full of dignity. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you did for him and for us. You will always have our gratitude.

Our dear mum passed away in February after 4.5 years under the dedicated care of Charlotte House. The entire care team from nurses, care support, activity coordinators, reception, office admin and management were wonderful. They clearly built up a bond with our mum and it was obvious mum did as well, vice versa. In the tougher times during Covid and various outbreaks they remained vigilant and caring. It has been so nice that the normal programme of activities is back in full swing. I sometimes attended the music themed events with mum, which were always so well organised. The VE Day tea party in the car park was great with the staff dressed in 1940s costumes. I'll never forget when Elvis came to Charlotte House - fabulous fun! Mum enjoyed these types of events and was apparently very good at crafting. They were supportive, friendly, approachable and caring throughout Mum's time there, right up to the very end. Thank you Charlotte House team - you are awesome. XxxxX

I must say that my father who was very old and poorly with Alzheimer's dementia, presented Charlotte House with multiple issues which they dealt with in a very professional caring way which was certainly a relief to me as the worry for him was very concerning. I felt from the moment he moved in he was safe and much happier than at home as the activities, entertainment and care given to him was top notch. So much so as a visiting relative I felt comfortable to pop in at any time . He reached end of life there and although sad his passing was dignified. Thank you Charlotte house x

Since my mum has been at Charlotte House the staff have been so kind and supportive.
They have looked after her with such compassion and professionalism from day one, providing so many activities and events to make a difference to her comfort and wellbeing. They even painted her nails which was a nice surprise!
They keep me informed every step of the way throughout her declining health which has given me such peace of mind.

I feel completely reassured knowing that my mum is in the right place, receiving the right level of care and support she needs. I am so grateful for everything they do.

My mum was sent to Charlotte House in May 23 after being told she had about 3 - 6 months. Sadly, mum passed away peacefully in May 25. My sister and I truly believe that the caring, kindness and total devotion of all the staff gave mum those extra two years with us. She enjoyed the activities that were arranged, especially a trip to the seaside that coincided with her birthday, as she talked of this often. She was listened to and treated with dignity by all. Mum had lots of personal things in her room, which must have made it difficult for the staff, but never a complaint was made, in fact comments were made at how lovely it was, especially at Christmas. I cannot fault this amazing place.

The staff at Charlotte House couldn't have been nicer to my dad, who was 95 when he passed away, having been there for 15 months. They encouraged him to move about and socialise, which he did as long as he could/wanted to, and then they were respectful that he was happier in his room with his crosswords, and TV. They were always very welcoming, no matter what time of day I visited, or at weekends. A lovely care home.

I found every member of staff from each department very helpful, kind and considerate. Everyone was so kind to my Mother-in-law and made her stay very enjoyable, every event was celebrated making a happy atmosphere. The hairdresser was a big hit and painting nails too, but most of all it was the love, kindness and respect given to her.

My husband was not shaved, his hair was greasy, not washed. I gave warning that I would pick him up at 1pm. I arrived at 2pm. Staff just packing his clothes. We had someone else's coat int he bag which I took back later, also medication which I picked up. It is a friendly place, but could be a lot better in different areas. Staff are friendly. No one around when I left, I would have liked to talk with someone.

When my mum first came to the home, we thought we only had a short time with her. Now, I think she will reach her 100th birthday easily. Nothing is too much trouble for the manager and staff. We organised a party for her birthday with the help of a member of staff on reception. She has come on leaps and bounds since being admitted. I cannot praise Charlotte House enough, thank you to everyone there.

Elisabeta Carmen SurligeanuJob Title:Home Manager
Charlotte House feels like a real family home. My team gets to know residents like members of their own family, and there’s a strongly supportive atmosphere here that you notice as soon as you visit.
One of our priorities is to see the world through residents’ eyes, so we can understand what’s important to them. When we know that, we support residents to enjoy meaningful and empowering experiences every day.
I have worked for Care UK since 2017; I’m a nurse by training, but I also have qualifications in social care and management. I joined the organisation because it is committed to high-quality care and to supporting colleagues to excel in their roles and careers.

The Care UK vision – Fulfilling lives – is something we strive to achieve every day at Charlotte House. For me it’s not about doing spectacular things, but about making every day meaningful. One of my passions is to make residents smile each day. That, and making their wishes come true, are among my proudest achievements.
