Fern Gardens Care Home

The atmosphere itself in the care home is very nice. My mother regularly goes for walks with a staff member and is involved in some activities despite the fact that she is not able to see anything.

In the few months that my father has been in Fern Gardens, he has settled in well. The staff have been great in making this so. The staff have been very informative when my father has been unwell, keeping me updated at all times. The staff are very friendly and approachable. I have no concerns with anything as my father also seems very content.

I am happy with the treatment for my wife. The staff are good and did a great job for her. They are very supportive and protective. I feel safe because she is staying here. Thank you very much.

Short visit but very friendly caring staff.

Carers at home are caring. They seem to interact with the elderly. Seems to be well planned weekly activities. My only complaint is that anything bought for residents such as clothes, shoes, slippers etc gets distributed among the incorrect residents after laundry day. All items are marked but it doesn't seem to matter. Slippers with fur inside bought for comfort for dad have gone missing multiple times. On visiting he's always wearing other people's clothes and slippers. This is extremely frustrating.

My friend expressed that she felt comfortable and at home and that she would like to return for respite care in the future which is a good recommendation. Thanks!

All the staff were extremely kind and helpful with my husband. The room was always clean and whenever we needed help one of the staff would always be there to help us.

Most of all, my father seems happy here.

I feel the staff genuinely care about each resident. They made her birthday special by organising cake and nibbles. Although I live quite a distance away I am kept up to date with her welfare by regular phone calls.

Recently Fern Gardens Care Home have improved its facilities, a new lounge and new dining room. My dad really enjoys sitting in the new lounge. I have also noticed there are more staff and this has improved the one-to-one care with residents but I feel sometimes there can be a language barrier, as for some staff English is a second language. But on the whole, care is very good.

Everyone is very nice, the care given is done with dignity and grace. I am comfortable and happy.

Having had previous experience with care homes, my father and I were nervous and worried about her coming to Fern Gardens Care Home. How wrong we were. From the moment we made an unannounced visit prior to my mother's arrival and the subsequent care, nothing could better the service and care, both my mother, my father and my friends received from all the staff. All the staff, from the cleaner, maintenance man, staff and management, were welcoming and treated my mother and family with dignity and respect. Fern Gardens itself was always clean and tidy and always smelt pleasant with no overpowering smells.

Moving our mother into a care home was a very difficult decision, however, the staff, facilities and care have been second to none. The whole time spent here has put a smile on our faces in the most difficult of times. We truly appreciate the work and care that my mother has received from such a caring team.

I had heard a lot about nursing homes and how they could be good or bad. I was worried about Fern Gardens not being good enough. This might sound cliche but from the moment I walked in, the staff were warm and friendly - from the cleaners and helpers to the nurses and managers. My auntie was well cared for and the staff explained all their actions and care given. Frequent checks were made on my auntie, she was kept clean, had regular mouth swabs and was given the appropriate pain relief. I can not thank the staff enough for their excellent duty of care. The care given to my auntie could not have been given at home, to the same high standard. Thank you so much to everyone.

My wife was admitted to Fern Gardens Care Home from the hospital suffering from MND. From the very first meeting with senior staff, I was very impressed with their patience and knowledge, and they were able to answer all my questions about the efficiency of staff, and I am not easily impressed. So far, I am very happy with the care home experience.
