Fern Gardens is a specialist home providing a variety of quality care, including 24-hour residential care, dementia care and additional support for those with more complex needs such as mental health conditions.

The home is a modern two-storey building, with 92 en-suite bedrooms with modern décor and up-to-date facilities, as well as a number of communal areas in which residents can enjoy the light and space.

An experienced and multicultural care team work hard to adapt to the varying needs of the residents, with a broad activities programme designed for the hobbies and interests of the residents.

The home has a secure outdoor space, with pathways for gentle walks and ample seating allowing for enjoyment of the fresh air. Residents have good access to local facilities and shops as they are supported to remain independent for as long as possible.

I feel the staff genuinely care about each resident. They made her birthday special by organising cake and nibbles. Although I live quite a distance away I am kept up to date with her welfare by regular phone calls.

Recently Fern Gardens Care Home have improved its facilities, a new lounge and new dining room. My dad really enjoys sitting in the new lounge. I have also noticed there are more staff and this has improved the one-to-one care with residents but I feel sometimes there can be a language barrier, as for
some staff English is a second language. But on the whole, care is very good.

Having had previous experience with care homes, my father and I were nervous and worried about her coming to Fern Gardens Care Home. How wrong we were. From the moment we made an unannounced visit prior to my mother's arrival and the subsequent care, nothing could better the service and care, both my
mother, my father and my friends received from all the staff. All the staff, from the cleaner, maintenance man, staff and management, were welcoming and treated my mother and family with dignity and respect. Fern Gardens itself was always clean and tidy and always smelt pleasant with no overpowering smells.

I had heard a lot about nursing homes and how they could be good or bad. I was worried about Fern Gardens not being good enough. This might sound cliche but from the moment I walked in, the staff were warm and friendly - from the cleaners and helpers to the nurses and managers. My auntie was well cared
for and the staff explained all their actions and care given. Frequent checks were made on my auntie, she was kept clean, had regular mouth swabs and was given the appropriate pain relief. I can not thank the staff enough for their excellent duty of care. The care given to my auntie could not have been given at home, to the same high standard. Thank you so much to everyone.

The Deputy Manager must be congratulated for running a phenomenal home. I was very impressed with the professionalism of the carers, the activities provided for the residents, religious needs catered for and the security was unbelievable. Something I have not experienced before.
I know this to be
a first class home because the last home my father was residing in, in Manchester was the complete opposite! Fern Gardens looks inviting and has an aesthetic appeal. The reception area has lots of information about the care home.
My father's carers who are also his companions are to be credited for their excellent work. They were all exceptional.
The Deputy Manager was very accommodating and facilitated our visit with care and consideration due to special circumstances. All the staff were genuinely happy to see us.
My father looked very healthy and happy. I was truly impressed with the dedication and hard work that has gone into running this successful and progressive home.

My wife was admitted to Fern Gardens Care Home from the hospital suffering from MND. From the very first meeting with senior staff, I was very impressed with their patience and knowledge, and they were able to answer all my questions about the efficiency of staff, and I am not easily impressed. I have found my visit to be pleasant the staff are friendly and the living environment for mum appears to be good. Mum has only recently arrived so is a little disorientated. However, it seems like she will quickly settle with the recent help.

My brother seems very content - the staff are attentive, caring and good with my brother. Rooms are fine, the food is very good, and my brother has gained 8lbs in a month of being here. Need to improve answering phones and front door - or give families passcodes.
