My mom has been at The Grange for palliative care for the last six weeks. The nurses and carers have genuinely shown Mom so much care that she smiles more for them. I would absolutely recommend this care home, every staff member is professional and kind.

My experience of this home is very positive. Each time I come the place is always clean and tidy. The staff are always friendly, my father seems very well looked after and most of the time happy! A big thanks to everybody involved.

My husband had been looked after by Primrose Unit by the staff that was totally exemplary caring for him for 2 and a half years. Giving him care, respect, and love as though they were his family. There is no praise too high for the staff and main nurse.

My Father has dementia and was placed in the home in Feb 2024. The staff are always happy and polite. My Dad is treated very well by the staff who look after him and care for him. It's sometimes a difficult situation. We feel safe in the knowledge he is clean, fed, and comfortable. He is very happy
and The Grange Care Home, we have been lucky to find such a great care home.

My father had been cared for by the wonderful staff on Primrose Unit at The Grange until he peacefully passed away last week. My family is so deeply thankful for the compassionate, professional and sensitive care he received there by these wonderful human beings. The care coordinator, and all the fantastic
people who work day and night to make this home one where an ethos of respect for loved ones is so evident, both in daily routines and beyond. We send blessings and gratitude to you all.

Following a nervous and unforeseen move from another care home, we have been made to feel so warmly welcome. The manager and all support staff have gone to extraordinary lengths to help my sister, with learning disabilities, to settle in, be it food, activities and introductions of new staff. Family
and visitors are welcome and always leave happy that all needs are being met. Our minds have been very quickly put at ease.

My friend is living in The Tulip Unit and whenever I see him he is always smiling and happy. Since he became a resident of the care home, he has always felt supported and listened always by the care staff. My friend has no nearby family and he always feels that The Grange is his family. Unfortunately,
he is deteriorating but the staff are going the extra mile in meeting his needs. I couldn’t thank enough the management and care team for making my friend feel safe always.

These reviews you are reading are all years old. This care home is not the same standards, really poor, the staff lazy, and lacks empathy. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. Nice facilities nothing else.

Out of the care homes my dad has been I know that this is the place he can settle and live out his life. I feel that management could communicate a bit better and since my dad is prone to falls the staff could be more aware and cater for that to avoid many hospital visits. Overall my experience with
the care home is good and I feel my dad is in good hands. The staff are great and kind.

My husband was cared for in this care home for nearly two years, he was not mobile and suffered from Alzheimer's. He was well cared for and supported by kind members of staff, who looked after both him and the family, particularly as his health failed and as he died, surrounded by family and loving
members of staff.
I think when he first arrived at the care home there could have been greater stimulation and more activities available when he was well enough to participate a bit more. This was however made harder due to covid restrictions at the time.
All the staff work extremely hard and their dedication to their job is commendable.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.560)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.560) out of 10 for The Grange Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.654 for The Grange Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (234 Excellents x 5) + (102 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 344 Ratings = 4.654
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.906 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Grange Care Centre is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 160 registered maximum number of service users is 32. 29 Positive Reviews ÷ 32 = 0.906
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
