Its a lovely care home the staff are Brilliant very helpful. There is one thing it would be good if there was more choice of vegetarian Indian food. But otherwise its a very nice care home and also so close by to where I live.

My mum, was in Hospital for 6 weeks before a care home was found that was suitable for her.
I am so glad we found Cloister's. She has been diagnosed with the onset of vascular dementia, the home is comfortable her room is lovely and she has everything she needs.( she does moan about the mattress moving about It's a hospital bed, but it stops the chance of bed sores)
She has been transferred to the local Doctors surgery and a doctor from the surgery is on site weekly should she need to be seen or to discuss any issues you may have.
There is also a chiropodist that comes to the home on a regular basis should you wish to book them.
There is also a hair salon available for the residence use.
Mum is a very private person so doesn't like to join in the many activities that the home has, but prefers to stay in her room and read ( the home has a small library) or does her colouring books.

She also enjoys the food and from what I've seen is lovely.

My grandma was in their care, the nurses forgot to give her medication. Upon questioning I was told that she refused, no staff visited my grandma for hours, left her dehydrated, tray of food left in her room, no personal care given, room stank when we entered looked for staff for 20 minutes we were told short staff, company is cutting down on staff. I will not recommend for family.

When I first came here I was shown every amenity and service that is provided by friendly, helpful and respectful staff. I could see that anyone staying here would be looked after comprehensively supported by the facilities available. The staff attitude was enthusiastic and caring which was encouraged by the manager. Overall you can feel confident that any patient living here would be safe and well looked after.

The carehome could benefit from having more staff, there are times when my mum is kept waiting for her food (as she is fed). She is supposed to be changed and repositioned throughout the day, but it only happens 2 - 3 times.

Most of the staff are kind and look after all residents but there is a lack of communication between them, especially from shift to shift; there should be more consistency in care.

Cloisters Care Home staff and medical team have made an immense positive change in my mum's care over the past year.

From being bedridden to now attending activities, engaging with staff and residents to enjoying the delicious food. My family thanks the Cloister's team for their empathetic and personal care for my mum. She is comfortable, content and loves her carers. Thank you team Cloisters!

Despite all the management changes over the last few years and the turnover of some staff, the care is amazing. The carers all look after my mother with kindness, are gentle, and use the appropriate language. I just hope the new manager stays a while.

Care costs have gone up tremendously and finance by the company is not communicated well, despite repeated requests. It feels like my mother is keeping everyone else. But the care received keeps us there.

Going from bad to worse. dreadful lack of communication. Resident lost hearing aid and then dark glasses which are needed as he is a blind veteran. Not able to go to the dentist as not enough staff to take him but no messages were given to me even though I have his power of attorney. Staff are leaving at a great rate and also some of the newly appointed management as well. I really do not know what is happening or why but it is not good for residents and staff. I am the lpa for the resident, aged 90 who has been in this care home for over 15 months.

Reply from Paul Lawson, National Sales Manager at Cloisters Care Home

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your friend lost their hearing aid, we have been searching for this and will continue to do so (the glasses have been found). There have been some changes within our staffing team but happy to say that this has now settled with a new Home...

My mother was on palliative care when she arrived at Cloisters Care Home. The staff took good care of her health and well-being. In particular, the head nurse took all my concerns on board relating to mum and put my mind at ease. She always made time for anything I wanted to say to her. All the staff were very accommodating even the admin staff. They day she passed away the staff were a big support. Thank you.

My mother has been at Cloisters Nursing Home for a few months. It is reassuring to know she is being looked after very well. I would like to thank all the staff for their hard work, caring and friendly approach.
I have been saddened by the news of the Deputy Manager leaving. She will be missed, not only was she friendly and approachable but extremely knowledgeable about the many aspects involved in caring for the Residents.

She took time to develop a caring, respectful and cheerful relationship with my mother. I was made to feel comfortable when I visited and was involved in my mother's care. We will miss you, wish you all the best and a big thank you to all the staff at Cloisters.

Bubs Job Title:Wellbeing Coordinator

I joined Advinia as a Wellbeing Coordinator because the B Happie initiative perfectly aligns with my own personal values and goals. It’s all about supporting residents to feel truly at home and to live joyful, meaningful lives while in our care.

What I love most about my role is that our residents are empowered to shape their own wellbeing journey. They choose the activities they want to take part in, which gives them a strong sense of purpose, connection, and independence. We also encourage residents to continue the hobbies they’ve always loved, ensuring that their passions remain part of their everyday life.

It’s incredibly rewarding to see our residents smiling, engaged, and immersed in the activities they enjoy — from musical sessions and creative arts projects to reminiscing over a warm drink, playing games, or singing together. We also enjoy visits from the local church, schools, and charities, which help strengthen our connection with the community.

At Cloisters, we love celebrating key calendar events, staying active with yoga, musical chair exercises, and sports days, and spending time together in our beautiful garden or over friendly chats in the Cloisters Café.

At Cloisters, B Happie isn’t just a slogan — it’s a way of life. When our residents are happy, we’re all happy together!
