Overall Experience
When Dad’s care finally became too much for us we were extremely grateful to find James Terry Court. We found the process of having Dad admitted worrying and cannot compliment the manager and the staff at James Terry Court enough for guiding us through the process and how kind the manager was on the hospital pre-assessment visit.
There’s obviously a strong and caring management team in place. We receive regular email updates and the staff are always happy to help update us when we telephone. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly and totally dedicated to the resident's well-being. There’s a nurse on each floor with a visiting GP and district Nurse who have established a strong bond with our Dad.
At home, Dad missed out on the social interaction and the variety of activities which James Terry Court are now providing. He's now happily settled in, loves the garden and is making friends.

Knowing that he is so well cared for and liked is a massive relief to us all at this difficult time.

My mother has been a widow for 36 years and cared for herself very well, but did not socialise with her neighbours that much. So moving into a Residential Care Home was a bit unsettling for her, but she is now settled in with the very helpful staff and is treated by the other residents as part of one big family.

Overall Experience

We had both in-laws residing for the last two years. The overall care has been very good and father-in-law, in particular, was very happy and continuously said how well looked after he was and how fantastic the staff are. Mother-in-law has memory problems and found it difficult to adjust, however, she has also been very well looked after and we know she is safe and cared for. Father-in-law passed away in April but the end of life pathway was compassionate and comforting. The staff are now going out of their way to support mother-in-law to ensure her sadness and loneliness is monitored and that she is not left alone for long periods. All this has happened during the Covid-19 lockdown procedures which has obviously placed extra strain and caused stress for everyone. The leadership and management have been absolutely excellent and we cannot praise them enough for what they are doing under extreme circumstances.

My family have total confidence in the staff at James Terry Court, who are very approachable and supportive. As this is the first year of my mother’s stay in the home we have been in contact with the team over a number of small issues all of which have been positively resolved in a timely manor. The level of care that my mother receives is first class. I would have no hesitation in recommending the home to anybody who needed to be looked after in a caring environment.

My mother, who is in the later stage of dementia, has been at James Terry Court for 6 years and during that time has been looked after with great kindness and understanding and despite Mum's mental decline they still manage to keep her happy.

My mother was apprehensive about moving into a care home so she had a few weeks "respite care" at James Terry Court. It was unlike her expectations and enjoyed it so much she asked to stay (fortunately there was a vacancy). She has settled in and enjoys the activities and company when she wants it. She is so much more confident. The staff are always thoughtful and well trained, she feels safe and secure. The facilities are very clean and modern. She has a large room with ensuite facilities. Everything possible is done to ensure this feels like "home". She is far more active and responsive than she was when receiving care in her own home.

All staff are helpful and friendly and have a good rapport and show kindness to the resident in what is a very demanding job to care for a person with advanced stages of dementia.

My aunt is very happy in James Terry Court.
Has a lovely room and is well cared for.

The only criticism I have is that there is not enough stimulus for patients with Alzheimers. Can the arts and crafts be re-instated?

Our ward has been a resident since February 2016 having removed her from another care home. She is extremely happy at James Terry Court and superbly looked after.

We are frequently told that she has nothing to complain about. Good food, very comfortable surroundings, wonderful caring staff and spotlessly clean. Visitors are made very welcome at any time of the day or evening and I have no hesitation whatsoever in giving James Terry Court the highest recommendation.

I have visited James Terry Court several times to support charity fundraising events. I was a rest and recuperation resident for ten days in January 2016. The staff continue to act in a professional, supportive, welcoming and friendly way. The home itself is kept to the highest standards of cleanliness. It is an excellent care home which I would highly recommend to my family and friends.

Well done to everyone.

I am still in contact with the James Terry Court even though my dad has passed away.
One of my husband's lodge members has applied on behalf of his father in law for information through my recommendation, he is in hospital at the moment with dementia, they visited James Terry Court and are thrilled with the information given, this helped them to control the situation, this is still on going.
We always try to attend their fund raising functions we are welcomed by the staff (the lady second in charge, the team leader and others.) I still keep in touch with a couple of residents when dad was alive.
My husband met the lady who is now in charge since the last one left. An admirable replacement.

I hope this is helpful.

The care support worker has completed his duties with excellent help to all residents on matters that are of careful appraisal.

In particular, the havoc caused by our lift breaking down 5 times in the last month. On these days I can say that I just did not know how he was able to manage. He willingly helped all the residents to their places of rest- carrying the wheelchairs, frames with the person sitting in situe at the same time.

During the times when normality is in place, he regularly helps not only as a server but dealt with problems with PC's, mobiles, radios and repaired equipment and maintained service to clear comfort to all and sundry.

So initially impressed with the facilities and ambience and then was blown away by the superb, caring, calm support of the staff. Mum treated with dignity and concern also for out family and the difficult transition we've had to make. After a very difficult few weeks, I am at last feeling confident that mum is in good hands and am beginning to relax and have hope for a positive future.

James Terry Court is well run with excellent activities these are organised by the activity coordinator who does an excellent job especially as she is the only one dedicated to activities.

The senior staff are very efficient and knowledgeable regarding each resident and work very hard to meet individual needs.

I have been involved with James Terry Court since 2005 with first my mother and now my mother-in-law as residents and so I have seen the enormous change between "old and new" at James Terry Court. The structure and facilities of the "old" were good but the "new" is just light years better! The one commonality is the staff many of who have made the same journey as me. They are always kind, courteous and above all professional with their dealings with both residents and relatives alike. 1st rate keep up the great work.
