Overall Experience
My wife has diagnosed with Alzheimer's 13 years ago and until her condition seriously deteriorated 3 months ago, I have been her 24/7 carer.

A mini-stroke and my stress caused me to relinquish her into care homes and whilst the first homes were satisfactory, James Terry Court is sensationally good. The care; the staff; the food; the amenities and attention is perfect. All my family are so so relieved. It's wonderful.

Following a spell in hospital, my mother came to James Terry Court for respite. She was made welcome and comfortable from the outset. I am very happy with the care she receives and she is now in the process of making this her permanent home.

James Terry Court is a place of peace and tranquility for both residents and visitors with staff available to help if required. The social provision for the residents is of the highest quality, with trips to see the pantomime at Christmas.

The home is supported by the Friends of James Terry court, and with this assistance make the environment and welfare of the residents of paramount importance.

The home is well run and is supported by a very active association of friends who not only raise funds but organise events and entertainment for the Residents.
Most staff are known by their first names and are caring and interested in the residents and assist the Friends in any of the events that have been organised.

All Residents are encouraged to join in all the events.

My mother has been in James Terry Court for 14 months. Having taken a while to settle in, she is now content. The food is excellent and she loves meal times. She is given a choice about when to go to bed and usually stays up with the carers. The home is very clean, helped by the new building. It never smells. It is rare to hear a bell ringing which I find very reassuring. The nursing care is excellent and I am kept updated about any issues. My mother is much fitter and stronger than when she arrived.

Briefly! I have been a resident at R.M.B.I for 4 years now. Most importantly I feel completely at home. All my practical needs are catered for including hairdressing and a chiropodist, laundry etc. Can't recommend this place too highly.

The catering is very hit and miss not enough fresh food. I would like more fresh vegetables, brassica vegetables, cauliflower and cabbage etc.

The surroundings of the home are very pleasant and I enjoy them.

I am not keen on the underfloor heating.

Home is very warm I like my room a lot cooler.

Independent since the death of her husband for 32 years, it came as shock at 98 to be told to move from her home! Transiting to sheltered facilities was extremely stressful, due to management pressure, over a two year period, at her former accommodation and a complete lack of Council support. It's a tribute to staff at James Terry that Mother is now generally happily integrated and is now in her 102nd year.

We, my sister and I, would comment that problems still seem to exist with the processing of laundry, all items were marked although these seem not to be resilient, it is not unusual to find Mother not wearing her own clothes. This is a very minor niggle.

Perhaps of greater relevance, when entering the facility we provided a fairly comprehensive resume' of facts, these have over the years been updated however we are not sure that attention has been adequately paid to them.

This is not meant to be a list of niggles but whenever we visit more often than not her hearing aid is not functioning, I carry as routine a spare battery. Without a hearing aid Mother cannot communicate and although appearing to converse will almost certainly not be on the same subject as the questioner.

This is not to be taken as negative comments but it is important for good communication between both us as responsible Children and legal guardians of our Mothers wellbeing and you the facilitators.

We as an overall perspective hold the facility and staff in extremely high regard, we have no problem communicating with any of the Staff they are almost without exception open, friendly and show us and our Mother the utmost courtesy. We are always greeted with a smile and some where we are most likely to hear a staff member gently talking and laughing with a resident.

My mother who is 96 has been at James Terry Court since May 2013. Whenever I or other relatives visit we are always made to feel welcome and can see how well cared for Mum is. I am always very happy with the cleanliness, both in mum's room and all other aspects of the Home. I would not hesitate to recommend James Terry.

The care my late father received in the last few weeks of his life was amazing. The staff were exceptional. My Grandmother is very happy and considers herself lucky to be living in such a nice care home. The staff are fantastic and take care of all her needs. On the rare occasion there's been a problem I have been notified immediately. Hygiene and cleanliness is brilliant and the food is of a high standard. Staff go the extra mile and I know most on first name basis. Very polite and friendly.

The fact that my Dad chose to die under the care of James Terry Court should say it all.
