Barchester Lynde House Care Home makes the most of pleasant grounds, located by the Thames and with wonderful views, and a versatile interior to provide top quality nursing and residential care, with professionals available round-the-clock and also skilled in care and support for physical disabilities and dementia.

A committed team work hard to ensure that all provision is tailored to the individual, while allowing them to make the most of a relaxed and homely atmosphere.

Nutrition is a key aspect of the care provided and an award winning Chef and his team provides first class food, freshly prepared at breakfast, lunchtime and in the evening, seven days of the week.

The room all have ensuite toilets, TVs and are decorated to the highest standard. Residents are encouraged to bring their treasured possessions with them when moving into their new home.

My mother stayed in Lynde House Care Home for two weeks, while I went on holiday. All the staff were very friendly and kind. The food was excellent and you could choose to eat in your room or in the dining room. Most importantly my mother felt safe and well looked after by everyone. Both the staff and
residents seemed very happy.

My father stayed in Lynde House Care Home for respite care and so that my sisters and I might see more of him as he usually lives in Derbyshire. All the staff were wonderful, helpful and courteous and Dad was made very comfortable. He enjoyed the meals, the spa bath and the gardens in particular and
we hope he will make another visit later in the year.

Since my mother has arrived at Lynde House, the care has been exceptional. Every member of staff, irrespective of their role, has been kind, caring and considerate.
Mum is treated with dignity and respect with all her needs met in this wonderful stimulating and safe environment.
There is a great
deal of attention to detail.
I can go home knowing that mum is looked after and safe.
No daughter could ask for more than that.

We have been so pleased with the high standard of care and attention our mother has received here. She is treated with dignity and kindness by all staff. The manager is always quick to respond to requests. We were very anxious about the move to a care home as our father went to one and it was not
a positive experience but our fears have been unfounded. Can't thank staff enough. I am now sleeping at night, which I haven't done for a long time.

I am sole carer for my disabled wife, so when I was scheduled for a hip replacement, I sent her to Lynde House and joined her there for 11 days (she was there for 17 days).
When I need a "relief break" of a week or two, I will definitely send her back to Lynde House.

My mother has been a resident since January 2016. On the whole, we have been very pleased with the care she receives. There have been times when there doesn't seem to have been enough staff on daily and she often has to wait a long time for assistance when she has rung her bell. This does seem to have
improved just recently. We find this a very expensive care home, especially as although her room is pleasant and opens on to the garden, it is very small. The common dining rooms are spacious a nicer environment. Staff are all extremely caring but standards of room cleaning could be better.

I came here with my husband in June 2013. He was very ill and died soon after. I feel safe and comfortable and lucky to be there. I like the food here too. The staff are very kind and the weekly diary of activities is also interesting.

I wanted to come to Barchester Lynde House Care Home for Christmas but wanted to be independent with care. I was comfortable in a first-floor room. We were fed and some entertainment was available. Staff were professional and not intrusive. Staff behaved professionally. I was treated as a guest. Food
was fairly standard and acceptable. Staff behaved respectfully to me with care. I liked being there.

My mother recently passed away in Barchester Lynde House where she has been a resident for 6 years becoming more and more debilitated by dementia. During this time mum was treated with respect and dignity, no more so than during the last few days of her life.

My husband has just passed away on 21/11/16. He had been a resident at Lynde House for 18 months. I cannot recommend highly enough the excellent care he received from all the care staff. I visited him virtually every day and I also was treated with superb care and respect, in fact, I felt like all the

Lynde House is a tidy and generally well-managed care home. It's staff are pretty much all overseas citizens who have acceptable levels of English. My mother received a good standard of care and staff are friendly and meet many of her needs.
I often need to make minor complaints about the level of
tidiness of her room. For example; clothes are left out, put away carelessly and dead flowers are left - so I need to throw them away. It is expensive and I expect high standards from this care home.

My elderly cousin is approaching her 90th birthday - but she knows nothing of this; we her relatives try to humour her, try to visit her, try to respect her dignity - which she not longer has much awareness of. She spends her life in another world/another time - walking home from school school perhaps?
Waiting for her mother to come.
She has been voluntarily bed-bound for the last 2 years - she refuses all attempts to help her get up. It is so sad. But I amazed at the care taken of her: she has no bed sores, her skin is clean and she smells fresh. Her bed is frequently changed. Her nurses and carers are so kind and gentle. They are amazing!

Lynde House is a pleasant nursing home with very nice carers and staff. I feel if you require nursing care it is excellent and you are well cared for. If you do not need nursing care I feel you receive less care. I am sure all nursing homes now a days are short staffed which clearly is a problem. My
mother is happy at Lynde House but it is too expensive for her to continue to stay long term. There has been a big refurbishment costing a lot of money which I don't feel was a priority. Staff should be well paid and then they would stay.

Our staffing levels are determined by the dependency levels of the residents in the home and are reviewed by our General Manager on a continual basis. The home is staffed to its full staffing complement and has no need to use agency staff.


Thank you for your feedback that our staff are excellent at the home. We value our staff and this is clearly shown in the fact that staff turnover at Lynde House is much less than the industry average.


We are sorry that you feel that the refurbishment of the home as not a priority. However the quality of our buildings and environment are of paramount importance and we are proud to reinvest in our homes. The major refurbishment of Lynde House has been necessary to ensure all our residents are cared for in the best possible environment and this is set to continue over the coming months.

Alison McIntosh

As the Registered Manager, I am responsible for the overall running of Lynde House and assisted in this by a great team of staff.


Although from Scotland, I have lived in Richmond for over 30 years. My career has been in two stages; hospital management where I spent almost 26 years working in acute hospitals including Kingston and the West Middlesex Hospitals and Care Home Management at Lynde House where I have been since 2011.


I have had a long interest and involvement in organising and providing services to older people and I have been fortunate enough to put my experience to good use at Lynde House where we continue to strive for improvement in everything we offer and provide for our residents. We consistently achieve great feedback from residents and relatives on the care and services offered, a significant aspect to this being our low staff turnover and the lovely environment both inside the home itself and the grounds in which it is situated.

Hello, my name is Smita and I am the Deputy Manager at Lynde House. I started my career at Lynde as a Registered Nurse back in 2014, I was promoted to Unit Manager and finally Deputy Manager. My role is to ensure that our residents receive the highest standard of care while taking a person-centred approach. I offer support and guidance to all Nurses and carers and work closely with external healthcare professionals. I am also the dementia Champion here at Lynde, I have a great passion for the welfare of the resident's mental health and have been the force behind the success of Namaste Therapy here at Lynde.”

Job Title: Unit Manager Joined: 2005

Ridel is a qualified nurse and has been a dedicated member of the Lynde House team since 2005. He was named as the Divisional Nurse of the Year in the 2018 Barchester Care Awards, National Nurse of the Year at the Great British Care Awards and recently the Dementia Nurse Award 2025.


Ridel is known to exercise his vocal cords with a bit of singing, much to the delight of the residents and staff.

Emma is a qualified Nurse/Unit manager here and has worked at Lynde House for 14 years. Emma was Barchester Nurse of the Year in 2016 and for good reason, as she is kind, compassionate and caring to say the least!

Ken is our night manager so he is not seen too often during the working day. He is also our Learning and Development lead for our home.

I have worked at Lynde House since 2010, when I started as a care assistant. In 2011, I was given the opportunity to lead the social activities programme in our home. Within my first year, I was honoured with being shortlisted at the National Barchester Awards in the category of Activities Coordinator of the Year and also won with my team of residents and local school pupils the "Barchester In Bloom best Flower display*.
Today I have a small team who work to ensure our social engagement programmes meet the desires and wishes of residents. I also coordinate the recruitment of volunteers to the home.


I successfully completed my Napa (National Association of Providers of Activities) qualification to level 3. Gitana and her team are excellent at planning and introducing new hobbies, activities and events for our residents to enjoy on a daily basis.

Marie has been a valued member of the Lynde House team since 2016, starting her journey as a Care Assistant. Her dedication and warm personality quickly stood out, leading her to take on the role of Admin Assistant, where she became the friendly and familiar face welcoming everyone at the front desk.


In January 2025, Marie stepped into the role of Home Administrator. With her deep understanding of the home, strong organisational skills, and compassionate approach, she continues to be a vital part of our team, ensuring everything runs smoothly while always making residents, families, and staff feel supported and welcome.

She joined Lynde House on 6th January 2025 and has quickly become a valued member of our administrative team. With a professional and friendly approach, she provides essential support to the day-to-day operations of the home.


From assisting visitors and families to helping staff stay organised and efficient, she brings a calm and capable presence to the front office. Always ready to lend a hand and go the extra mile, she contributes greatly to the warm and welcoming atmosphere at Lynde House.

George Quarshi

Job Title: Admin assistant Joined: 2007

George has worked at Lynde for over 20 years. For most of this time, he was our Head of Maintenance, but retired from this position in 2020. No sooner required but he was back helping us during the Pandemic with visiting supervision, etc.


Recently, George became one of the admin team working. In addition, He continues to assist in activities and his Thursday "Cuppa with George" remains a firm favourite with residents. George was recognised in the 2020 Great British Care Awards, reaching the finals of the South Division for support worker of the year.

Nikasha Rebelo

Job Title: Activities Assistant Joined: 2021

Nikasha works alongside Gitana our activities coordinator to provide the residents with fulfilling and enjoyable day-to-day activities. They work together to provide great live events and entertainment for both the residents and relatives to enjoy all through out the year.
