Despite our nervousness at having our father stay in a respite home for the very first time, we were more than pleasantly surprised at how much he loved it there. The manager who runs the home is a fantastic leader and his energy and happy nature resounded throughout the home. Frankly, it was like a five-star hotel - beautifully decorated and clean with friendly staff and happy residents. With activities every day, Dad was more engaged than he has been in a long time (a new life appeared in him during his stay). We are incredibly grateful to the manager and his team for doing such a fantastic job and we are now super happy that if we need to go away again this is the place that Dad will look forward to coming back to!

I am a friend and next of kin of one of the residents at Magnolia Court Care Home, who, very sadly, died recently. She entered the home after a long period of being bed bound at home, having had several admissions to hospital and experiencing deteriorating health generally. I was worried about her being admitted as I knew she didn’t want to go to a home but was immediately reassured on visiting by the warm atmosphere, the cheerful and bright rooms and the feeling of gentle calm. My friend was made really welcome there and clearly no longer felt lonely. I’d like to thank the friendly and communicative manager for being so kind to my friend in her last months.

Mum arrived from the hospital after a fall and corrective surgery very disoriented. I found the staff at Magnolia Court Care Home very caring and helpful. She also thought they were lovely and very kind. Both activity coordinators were also very helpful and tried very hard to involve her in activities. I’d highly recommend Magnolia.

This was my second experience of having a friend in Magnolia Court.
It is, in my opinion, well managed with caring staff and very pleasant rooms.
Unfortunately, this was not the right place for my friend as she felt cut off from her life. As she would only agree to a short stay, she never really took advantage of the facilities, wouldn't mix and felt very isolated.
She felt that the home was more suitable for people in end-of-life care or with dementia rather than for rehabilitation following a hospital stay.

Sadly it was not a successful stay.

Mum moved to Magnolia during the pandemic in October 2020. She was immediately welcomed and given a lovely corner room overlooking the garden and allotments to the rear of the home. The staff were truly amazing and Mum formed good relations with them. The level of catering and activities was excellent and she was extremely comfortable throughout her stay. She passed away just before her 92nd birthday and I am extremely grateful that her life ended on such a positive note. Many thanks to all the staff for their friendliness, compassion and caring. I recommend Magnolia very highly.

We searched long and hard to find a good care home for my husband. Magnolia Court was by far the best option. It is clean, light, friendly and warm, the staff are courteous and treat the residents with respect, and it has a family atmosphere. They make great efforts to ensure that the residents are stimulated and entertained. They keep me involved with health decisions and ensure that he

has all the relevant injections. My husband thinks that he is in a five-star hotel.

My parent was in this care home just for respite. We have had a very bad experience as my parent suffered from dementia but unfortunately, this was not the right place for my parent to get all the help needed. My parent got in a bad state and ended up in the hospital and passed away shortly after.
This happened only after I spoke to the manager to get my mother medical help but it was too late for my mother as she had deteriorated.
My parent was only near the middle stages of dementia. Was still enjoying life.

I was looking forward to her returning home.

I only have positive things to say about Magnolia Court. First of all, the staff were all friendly and lovely. They are helpful and patient with the elderly. Second, the place is clean and spacious. Lots of outdoor lighting. The food is fresh and varies. It feels like a 5-star hotel. Everyone is also polite and helpful. They treat my aunty with respect and dignity. She is happy here as she says only good things about the place and she is smiling. I am grateful for her to be here. It is like a hotel but better.

My mother was a resident at Barchester Magnolia Court Care Home from November 2013 until her death in April 2022. Sadly she was seriously affected by dementia and by arthritis leading to her being effectively bedridden for her final eighteen months or so. During her entire stay at Magnolia Court Care Home my mother was treated with the utmost care and kindness with due regard always being paid to her increasingly fragile condition. The standard of nursing care was extremely high as was that of the caring staff and despite my mother having always been opposed to moving to a home she quickly began to appreciate the high quality of the care available to her. The home itself is a purpose built building and is finished to a good standard with easy access. It is set in attractive grounds with a well tended garden area available when weather permits. General facilities such as lounges and dining room are to a high standard as are the activities laid on for residents. Happy to recommend the home to others without reservation.

We used the Magnolia Court Care Home for respite care for my mum; she stayed for two weeks. I was concerned about putting mum into respite care as I had never done this before. With my hand on my heart, I can say that it was marvellous! The manager and his team of carers look after Mum so well that it put my mind at ease. Several family members went to visit Mum without booking and told me that Mum was always clean and dressed and well-fed; they were very happy with Magnolia Court. The staff are kind, friendly and very helpful and interacted with the residents; they encouraged Mum to take part in the activities, and they made my mum feel welcome and like part of the family. I will definitely use Magnolia Court for respite care again and can recommend them for this service. Well done, Magnolia Court!

My father moved into Magnolia Court in February. I feel safe, and secure that he is in good hands! Even my first online enquiry with the Manager was impressive, he was patient, understanding and helpful in all of my questions... myself feeling utterly overwhelmed about finding a suitable home. He helped make the entire process easier with his continued calm and caring persona, and attitude. His contact with me throughout continues to be such a relief as I live in Athens, Greece therefore not able to be more present physically.

The activity organiser is wonderful! Her positive, caring, open personality is exactly what my father and the residents need! She knows how to get the residents smiling, laughing and feeling included and seen, which is just great! She listened to my pointers about my father's love of Sushi and took him out to eat a Sushi lunch at a local restaurant! Also that he was once a musician and they organised students to come in and play for him! Wonderful!

My father came to Barchester Magnolia Court Care Home after a traumatic two months of hospitals and home-living following an accident. In pain and very unsettled both physically and emotionally, the family's concern was his safety.
I personally checked three care homes before selecting Magnolia and was warmly met by one of their nurses. My many questions were answered during the visit and I was immediately reassured he would be safe and well looked after. I liked the atmosphere and decor too. My reassurance was correct. Over the months our father was there, the staff could not have done more for him at every level from the carers to the nurses from the admin staff right up to management. A special thanks to the general manager, for

coordinating sometimes complicated situations and for supporting our family at this point of crisis. His deputy, was also very helpful as was the administrator and staff. Many thanks for all your work!!

Review from Tony F (Nephew of Resident) published on 18 January 2022 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

The accommodation and facilities are of a high standard. There has been a recent major redecoration. I have found the staff to be caring and aware of the needs of my Aunt which she finds difficult to express because of advanced dementia. During the summer and autumn months, I have been able to borrow a wheelchair to take my aunt to a nearby park which she has enjoyed. I have also been able to stay for lunch and encourage my aunt to eat as she can be reluctant to do so. Previous to her residence at Magnolia Court, I was always worried about my aunt's welfare firstly when she was living at home with carers coming and then at a previous Care Home when we had to remove her because she would not settle down. There have been no such worries at Magnolia Court because I know she is being well looked after and the security is of a high standard. The management keeps me well informed of what is going on and I feel that any concerns I have will be listened to and appropriate action is taken.

My family and I have not stopped feeling blessed for having found Magnolia Court for our mother. All the staff have been fabulous; sensitive, caring, kind, and positive (not just the care staff but domestic staff, people who work in the kitchen, volunteer workers etc). I have known this care home since December 2020 and can confirm and admit, that the service I have received is the best. All issues or questions are sorted in the nick of an eye. Overall, from admission till now, everything is smooth. Jacqueline DennisJob Title:Head ChefJoined: 2024

Hello, I am Jacqueline and I joined the Magnolia Court Team in November 2024 as Head Chef.

I qualified as a chef at Hammersmith college in 1999. I had a love for cooking since I was a child, my siblings and I helped our mum in the kitchen and as we grew up and took it in turns to cook to help our mum who was a nurse.

During my career as a Chef I have cooked at a number of wonderful and interesting places such the BBC, Westminster Council and The Royal ballet. I had the pleasure of cooking for Darcy Bussell, The Lord Mayors and Princess Margaret.

I love cooking as it enables me to be creative and make people happy at the same time. I was inspired by my mum and always wanted to cook with in health care. I really enjoy meeting and getting to know residents. It makes me very happy to see the delight and enjoyment my food brings to people.
