My mother was a resident at Barchester Magnolia Court Care Home from November 2013 until her death in April 2022. Sadly she was seriously affected by dementia and by arthritis leading to her being effectively bedridden for her final eighteen months or so. During her entire stay at Magnolia Court Care
Home my mother was treated with the utmost care and kindness with due regard always being paid to her increasingly fragile condition. The standard of nursing care was extremely high as was that of the caring staff and despite my mother having always been opposed to moving to a home she quickly began to appreciate the high quality of the care available to her. The home itself is a purpose built building and is finished to a good standard with easy access. It is set in attractive grounds with a well tended garden area available when weather permits. General facilities such as lounges and dining room are to a high standard as are the activities laid on for residents. Happy to recommend the home to others without reservation.

We used the Magnolia Court Care Home for respite care for my mum; she stayed for two weeks. I was concerned about putting mum into respite care as I had never done this before. With my hand on my heart, I can say that it was marvellous! The manager and his team of carers look after Mum so well that
it put my mind at ease. Several family members went to visit Mum without booking and told me that Mum was always clean and dressed and well-fed; they were very happy with Magnolia Court. The staff are kind, friendly and very helpful and interacted with the residents; they encouraged Mum to take part in the activities, and they made my mum feel welcome and like part of the family. I will definitely use Magnolia Court for respite care again and can recommend them for this service. Well done, Magnolia Court!

My father moved into Magnolia Court in February. I feel safe, and secure that he is in good hands! Even my first online enquiry with the Manager was impressive, he was patient, understanding and helpful in all of my questions... myself feeling utterly overwhelmed about finding a suitable home. He helped
make the entire process easier with his continued calm and caring persona, and attitude. His contact with me throughout continues to be such a relief as I live in Athens, Greece therefore not able to be more present physically.
The activity organiser is wonderful! Her positive, caring, open personality is exactly what my father and the residents need! She knows how to get the residents smiling, laughing and feeling included and seen, which is just great! She listened to my pointers about my father's love of Sushi and took him out to eat a Sushi lunch at a local restaurant! Also that he was once a musician and they organised students to come in and play for him! Wonderful!

My father came to Barchester Magnolia Court Care Home after a traumatic two months of hospitals and home-living following an accident. In pain and very unsettled both physically and emotionally, the family's concern was his safety.
I personally checked three care homes before selecting Magnolia and
was warmly met by one of their nurses. My many questions were answered during the visit and I was immediately reassured he would be safe and well looked after. I liked the atmosphere and decor too. My reassurance was correct. Over the months our father was there, the staff could not have done more for him at every level from the carers to the nurses from the admin staff right up to management. A special thanks to the general manager, for
coordinating sometimes complicated situations and for supporting our family at this point of crisis. His deputy, was also very helpful as was the administrator and staff. Many thanks for all your work!!

The accommodation and facilities are of a high standard. There has been a recent major redecoration. I have found the staff to be caring and aware of the needs of my Aunt which she finds difficult to express because of advanced dementia. During the summer and autumn months, I have been able to borrow
a wheelchair to take my aunt to a nearby park which she has enjoyed. I have also been able to stay for lunch and encourage my aunt to eat as she can be reluctant to do so. Previous to her residence at Magnolia Court, I was always worried about my aunt's welfare firstly when she was living at home with carers coming and then at a previous Care Home when we had to remove her because she would not settle down. There have been no such worries at Magnolia Court because I know she is being well looked after and the security is of a high standard. The management keeps me well informed of what is going on and I feel that any concerns I have will be listened to and appropriate action is taken.

The staff and management were FANTASTIC.
My father passed away last week. I cannot thank everyone for their help and support during dads time here. He was treated with such dignity and respect. It is more like a happy family

My family and I have not stopped feeling blessed for having found Magnolia Court for our mother. My mother had to change care home during the pandemic and all the staff at Magnolia Court welcomed her and took such care in meeting her advanced dementia needs. The timing of her move created tremendous stress on Mum, the family and the staff, but without missing a beat they went over and above to
help her feel safe. No matter when I ring, any of the staff and the Manager will give me updates on how Mum has settled. The manager runs a professional, warm, caring and reassuring care home. He cares and has time for residents and their family members alike.

My mum was diagnosed with dementia and she has Type 1 diabetes. She was taken to hospital and the assessment there confirmed that she needed 24-hour care. This took us by surprise as we were not prepared with a choice of a care home. Magnolia Court in Hamstead was recommended and when we visited, we
immediately decided that this was the right place for her.
The first thing we noticed was the cleanliness and the friendliness of all staff. It felt like home.
Mum was accepted in Magnolia Court care home and she has been there for 3 month now. She has settled well, thanks to the care and support of all the staff there.
They showed her exceptional care medically and psychologically. They took extra care to understand her wants and needs and I am very grateful to everyone there from the manager to the daily house keepers.
The rooms are clean, tidy and welcoming. The food is tasty and there are activities for everyone to be kept active and stimulated.

My husband has behavioural variant frontotemporal dementia, which is a challenging condition. My excellent GP recommended Magnolia Court to me when I was no longer able to manage at home; my husband was admitted in November 2020 and he very soon settled in. I have been extremely impressed by the quality
of care which he is receiving. I am grateful for WhatsApp photos and videos giving me a glimpse "behind the scenes" and even in this time of Covid, the activities coordinators are providing a variety of activities to entertain the residents. I appreciate being able to visit in a special Visiting Suite and each time my husband looks well cared for and calm. This is an enormous relief to me and I am so grateful to the staff who are looking after him with such loving care. I also appreciate the excellent manager and his assistant who go out of their way to be sure that relatives are always informed and who run monthly relatives zoom meetings. It is a wonderful place!

My father was only in Magnolia Court for a short while before sadly dying. During his time there, the staff showed only patience and kindness during what is, for everyone, a very stressful time. A special mention to the activities co-ordinator who went out of her way during our visits and the night

It's difficult to give a comprehensive review as my aunt was admitted during COVID lockdown. We were allowed into Magnolia Court for a pre-visit and then again for the first 2 days of admission to allow my aunt to settle. The environment is lovely; homely, clean, beautifully furnished and decorated.
We joined my aunt for her 1st meal; it looked delicious and my aunt really enjoyed it. Thereafter, only half-hour garden visits which is understandable but difficult on weekdays when working 9-5, as last visits are up to 4:40pm. However, the garden is a little oasis - peaceful and very well maintained. Speaking with other residents/visitors who were there pre-COVID, it sounds like the activities, events and outings were well-organised and well-received, and I regret that my aunt could not experience these. All of the staff we met throughout were friendly and showed great kindness and empathy, not only towards my aunt, but to us especially when she passed away and we felt well-supported.

My sister was pushed out of a rehab hospital at the beginning of the coronavirus crisis. We had hoped she could go direct to Magnolia Court but, sadly, the expected vacancy did not materialise. The manager immediately arranged an introduction to another care home where she spent three months under the
lockdown regime. With the easing of lockdown and the possibility of visits, we wished to arrange for her transfer to Magnolia Court which is closer to her friends and family. Again, the manager of Magnolia Court sorted us out and arranged the transfer in a most professional manner. He and his staff have been at all times helpful, resourceful and co-operative.
I believe my sister is now as happy as possible, save that she would rather be in her own home. With this in mind, she is now receiving physiotherapy (which was not possible during the lockdown period).

My sister has MS and has been at Magnolia for eight months. All the caring staff have been like a family to her, especially during these difficult times with Covid-19.
The staff have obviously been having a difficult time themselves. But have remained selfless not only in the daily care but also maintaining

My family were recommended to Magnolia Court Care Home by several different friends. We were very impressed by the management and staff when we visited the home to view it. A place was found for my husband just a week before the lockdown by the government but the manager and staff helped to make my
husband’s transfer to the home as smooth as possible in spite of the very difficult timing. He was later moved to the dementia floor where again staff and carers showed themselves to be caring, compassionate, professional and immensely kind in helping him to settle down and get used to his new environment. There have been great efforts by carers for our family to keep in contact with our resident loved one during the lockdown when we have been unable to visit and that has been very appreciated by us all. The marvellous cooking and warm hospitality to visitors and residents alike is impressive.

Hello and welcome to Magnolia Court Nursing Home. My name is Wayne Hughes and I have been working in the care industry for over 30 years. I started working in the industry whilst at University and developed a genuine passion for making a difference to the lives of people that needed our support. Over the years I have worked in a number of roles and I have had the absolute pleasure of working for Barchester Healthcare for the last 10 years. Working with the very best in the sector has given me the tools to ensure that I can continue my passion in making a difference and ensuring that our residents are treated with respect and dignity. Promoting and understanding the person centred care needs of every resident in Magnolia Court is second to none to ensure that are residents live happy and healthy lives and I will work with the team to ensure this is in place. I graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Since then, I have had the opportunity to work in both hospital settings and private care, gaining valuable experience across a variety of clinical environments. These experiences have helped me develop strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as a deep understanding of what it takes to deliver quality care.


My passion for nursing stems from my genuine desire to help humanity achieve optimum well-being and receive care that is safe, effective, and truly satisfactory. I believe in treating every individual with dignity, compassion, and respect, ensuring that their needs are always at the centre of the care we provide.


As the new Deputy Manager at Magnolia Court, I look forward to supporting the General Manager in all aspects of service delivery and working closely with every member of the team. My focus will be on ensuring that all service users and residents receive person-centred care in a well-led, compliant, and supportive environment, fully in line with the company’s policies and procedures.


My goal is to bring the best to the table, to lead by example, and to continue learning and growing within the organisation. I am committed to being a strong team player, promoting teamwork, positivity, and excellence in all that we do. I am truly grateful for the opportunity that Barchester has entrusted to me and look forward to contributing meaningfully to the continued success of the home.

John O'Meara

Job Title: Senior Registered Nurse Joined: 2013

I have been working at Magnolia Court since 2013. I started as an Adult Registered Nurse, which led to an opportunity to be a Unit Lead for our Memory Lane dementia community. I am now working as a Senior Nurse in the home, providing management support on Clinical processes.


This allows me to apply my nursing and management experience, caring for our residents and staff in all departments, giving me satisfaction with the support I am able to provide.


I also enjoy giving my input on ways of leading the home toward providing an excellent service, enriching the lives of those who live here and those who work here, too.


Aside from work, I play the guitar, support Tottenham Hotspur Football Team and enjoy walking my pug whose name is 'Pon', every day, which is a great comfort to me.

Hello, my name is Nina and I am the new Home Administrator here at Magnolia Court Care Home.


I joined Barchester in 2016, starting at Bryn Ivor Lodge in Wales. In 2021, I made the exciting move to Magnolia Court, embracing the opportunity to be part of a new community and contribute to a different home environment. This transition has allowed me to broaden my experience and deepen my commitment to providing excellent care and support.


I began my journey as a care assistant and transitioned to an admin assistant last year. From May until October 2024, I became part of the transposing team for Enable, travelling around London to assist other Barchester care homes in the region with the important transition from paper records to digital systems, which I truly enjoyed.


I am very passionate about supporting the team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and working closely with residents and their families, ensuring their needs are met and their voices heard. My goal is to contribute positively to the care environment, fostering a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for everyone involved.


Outside of work, I love to hike, swim, and attend concerts and festivals in my spare time.


I look forward to continuing to assist and support the team, residents, and their families at Magnolia Court.

Hello, I am Jacqueline and I joined the Magnolia Court Team in November 2024 as Head Chef.


I qualified as a chef at Hammersmith college in 1999. I had a love for cooking since I was a child, my siblings and I helped our mum in the kitchen and as we grew up and took it in turns to cook to help our mum who was a nurse.


During my career as a Chef I have cooked at a number of wonderful and interesting places such the BBC, Westminster Council and The Royal ballet. I had the pleasure of cooking for Darcy Bussell, The Lord Mayors and Princess Margaret.


I love cooking as it enables me to be creative and make people happy at the same time. I was inspired by my mum and always wanted to cook with in health care. I really enjoy meeting and getting to know residents. It makes me very happy to see the delight and enjoyment my food brings to people.
