My mother had to change care home during the pandemic and all the staff at Magnolia Court welcomed her and took such care in meeting her advanced dementia needs. The timing of her move created tremendous stress on Mum, the family and the staff, but without missing a beat they went over and above to help her feel safe. No matter when I ring, any of the staff and the Manager will give me updates on how Mum has settled. The manager runs a professional, warm, caring and reassuring care home. He cares and has time for residents and their family members alike.

Quite an elegant surrounding and carers are always happy to give a hand when needed. All amenities are at hand as well. I love the garden as I can go there and relax far from the maddening crowd. I can recommend this home to all my friends as I feel safe in this place. Thank you.

My mum was diagnosed with dementia and she has Type 1 diabetes. She was taken to hospital and the assessment there confirmed that she needed 24-hour care. This took us by surprise as we were not prepared with a choice of a care home. Magnolia Court in Hamstead was recommended and when we visited, we immediately decided that this was the right place for her.
The first thing we noticed was the cleanliness and the friendliness of all staff. It felt like home.
Mum was accepted in Magnolia Court care home and she has been there for 3 month now. She has settled well, thanks to the care and support of all the staff there.
They showed her exceptional care medically and psychologically. They took extra care to understand her wants and needs and I am very grateful to everyone there from the manager to the daily house keepers.
The rooms are clean, tidy and welcoming. The food is tasty and there are activities for everyone to be kept active and stimulated.

A big Thank you!

My husband has behavioural variant frontotemporal dementia, which is a challenging condition. My excellent GP recommended Magnolia Court to me when I was no longer able to manage at home; my husband was admitted in November 2020 and he very soon settled in. I have been extremely impressed by the quality of care which he is receiving. I am grateful for WhatsApp photos and videos giving me a glimpse "behind the scenes" and even in this time of Covid, the activities coordinators are providing a variety of activities to entertain the residents. I appreciate being able to visit in a special Visiting Suite and each time my husband looks well cared for and calm. This is an enormous relief to me and I am so grateful to the staff who are looking after him with such loving care. I also appreciate the excellent manager and his assistant who go out of their way to be sure that relatives are always informed and who run monthly relatives zoom meetings. It is a wonderful place!

My friend she’s been admitted to Magnolia Court in January 2020 and I would like to say that she’s receiving a high quality of care from all staff. I am impressed with the management team, always very helpful and kind. Nurses are very knowledgeable and efficient with my friend’s care needs. We had a good experience in the past when my friend’s husband was a Resident at Magnolia and that’s why we chose them.

My father was only in Magnolia Court for a short while before sadly dying. During his time there, the staff showed only patience and kindness during what is, for everyone, a very stressful time. A special mention to the activities co-ordinator who went out of her way during our visits and the night nurse who was so kind on the night he died. All the staff I met were really delightful.

It's difficult to give a comprehensive review as my aunt was admitted during COVID lockdown. We were allowed into Magnolia Court for a pre-visit and then again for the first 2 days of admission to allow my aunt to settle. The environment is lovely; homely, clean, beautifully furnished and decorated. We joined my aunt for her 1st meal; it looked delicious and my aunt really enjoyed it. Thereafter, only half-hour garden visits which is understandable but difficult on weekdays when working 9-5, as last visits are up to 4:40pm. However, the garden is a little oasis - peaceful and very well maintained. Speaking with other residents/visitors who were there pre-COVID, it sounds like the activities, events and outings were well-organised and well-received, and I regret that my aunt could not experience these. All of the staff we met throughout were friendly and showed great kindness and empathy, not only towards my aunt, but to us especially when she passed away and we felt well-supported.

My sister was pushed out of a rehab hospital at the beginning of the coronavirus crisis. We had hoped she could go direct to Magnolia Court but, sadly, the expected vacancy did not materialise. The manager immediately arranged an introduction to another care home where she spent three months under the lockdown regime. With the easing of lockdown and the possibility of visits, we wished to arrange for her transfer to Magnolia Court which is closer to her friends and family. Again, the manager of Magnolia Court sorted us out and arranged the transfer in a most professional manner. He and his staff have been at all times helpful, resourceful and co-operative.

I believe my sister is now as happy as possible, save that she would rather be in her own home. With this in mind, she is now receiving physiotherapy (which was not possible during the lockdown period).

My sister has MS and has been at Magnolia for eight months. All the caring staff have been like a family to her, especially during these difficult times with Covid-19.

The staff have obviously been having a difficult time themselves. But have remained selfless not only in the daily care but also maintaining the spirits of residents and reassuring them, whilst maintaining the efficiency of Magnolia.

My family were recommended to Magnolia Court Care Home by several different friends. We were very impressed by the management and staff when we visited the home to view it. A place was found for my husband just a week before the lockdown by the government but the manager and staff helped to make my husband’s transfer to the home as smooth as possible in spite of the very difficult timing. He was later moved to the dementia floor where again staff and carers showed themselves to be caring, compassionate, professional and immensely kind in helping him to settle down and get used to his new environment. There have been great efforts by carers for our family to keep in contact with our resident loved one during the lockdown when we have been unable to visit and that has been very appreciated by us all. The marvellous cooking and warm hospitality to visitors and residents alike is impressive.

Magnolia Court is a really well run and clean, well-designed home for older residents with an amazing staff of carers, nurses and support staff. Our mother is 94 and has Alzheimer's disease. She has been a resident here for over five years and we have always felt she was cared for and loved by the team on her floor. Before she was confined to bed full time, she enjoyed their varied daily activities such as music, dancing, crafts and other entertainments as well as trips to the pretty garden. They also have an excellent kitchen with great catering providing a varied, high-quality menu with lots of choice. The little touches such as homemade cakes every day, make all the difference to residents who might be missing their own homes and cooking for themselves. I would recommend it to friends who might be looking for a care home for elderly or disabled relatives.

Throughout four good years of my elderly mother’s final residence at Magnolia Court Care Home (Barchester) staff and employees showed an unusual degree of commitment to residents and were highly personable, warm, thoughtful. We formed valuable and enduring relationships with managerial, nursing, caring and other staff. The Home was well maintained, clean, orderly. Care plans are reviewed periodically. Staff were always accommodating and responsive.
During the pandemic and widespread lock-down that followed, the isolation of residents, cut-off from contact with families proved a very great hardship. The home managed this transition well and compassionately. Key staff were retained through most of the crisis. I applaud the courage, determination and hard work of staff who maintained care routines and patient’s comfort and dignity throughout the crisis.

Magnolia will be remembered by us as a vibrant, buzzing community of good people with a genuine commitment and gift for caring.

My husband was well cared for. He was able to relate to the staff even as his condition worsened over time. I felt they were loving, respectful, and capable.
The music therapy was most beneficial to my musical husband as were the activities as far as he was still able to participate. The feeling of always having company and the generous facilities for family visits made me feel that indeed he was better off in Magnolia than as previously, at home.

Huge gratefulness to the staff - all of them, including kitchen staff, cleaners, and reception. The garden was a joy to all, resident's families, and visitors.

My sister was admitted as a temporary/respite resident following several months in hospital settings following serious falls resulting in fractures that left her virtually immobile and suffering from ongoing health problems. To compound the problems, her admission came shortly after the COVID 19 Lockdown measures were announced, as both the NHS and Care Sector came under unprecedented pressure.

In spite of the challenges, the team at Magnolia were unfailingly helpful in arranging her admission, managing the required isolation and providing care and support during her stay. Staff directly involved in her care were very helpful in overcoming the difficulties in communication created by the Lockdown and sympathetic to my sister and to myself and others trying to maintain contact with her. The management team were helpful in relation to all medical and nursing matters and particularly so in arranging her final transfer to a long-term place in another nursing home in spite of COVID 19 problems.

Jacqueline DennisJob Title:Head ChefJoined: 2024

Hello, I am Jacqueline and I joined the Magnolia Court Team in November 2024 as Head Chef.

I qualified as a chef at Hammersmith college in 1999. I had a love for cooking since I was a child, my siblings and I helped our mum in the kitchen and as we grew up and took it in turns to cook to help our mum who was a nurse.

During my career as a Chef I have cooked at a number of wonderful and interesting places such the BBC, Westminster Council and The Royal ballet. I had the pleasure of cooking for Darcy Bussell, The Lord Mayors and Princess Margaret.

I love cooking as it enables me to be creative and make people happy at the same time. I was inspired by my mum and always wanted to cook with in health care. I really enjoy meeting and getting to know residents. It makes me very happy to see the delight and enjoyment my food brings to people.
