Situated in the busy town of Erith in Kent, Meyer House is near to local countryside but close to the hustle and bustle of London. With a dedicated and highly trained team of nurses and carers, the purpose-built two-storey Home specialises in tailored nursing and residential care.

Meyer House cares for up to 30 residents, with single-room accommodation, each with ensuite facilities. The communal lounges and dining areas are pleasantly furnished with plenty of natural light and their conservatory leads out to a peaceful courtyard garden with raised flower beds.

Within the small friendly Home, social and leisure activities are designed to suit each person’s hobbies and interests, on an individual and group basis. These include live music and entertainment, musical theatre, quizzes, arts and crafts and pet therapy. Residents are encouraged to remain active and pursue hobbies and interests, both old and new.

One of the first care providers to champion the importance of nutrition for older people, Nellsar employ a Head of Nutrition and Wellness for their Homes. Meyer House acknowledges that nutrition and hydration are an integral part of good health and well-being, delivering well-balanced, nutritious meals and snacks to residents every day.

Meyer House also benefits from a Well-Being Team of fully-qualified holistic therapists who use nurturing touch, essential oils and complementary therapies and relaxing treatments to improve residents’ quality of life and sense of well-being.

Myself and my family cannot speak highly enough for the care and attention that was given to my mum who was suffering with dementia. The carers, down to the admin on-site treated my mum as if she was their own. For the whole period my mum was a resident, we saw a significant change in her. Always happy,
laughing, always clean and tidy. The hygiene was second to none. The home is spotless and the activities we of a very high standard. When my mum dies on 27th February 2020, the carers were a tower of strength towards us. We shall miss them dearly.

My weekly visit is always pleasant with the resident. The staff are always welcoming and on occasions, will stop and chat and usually provide a cuppa and biscuits/cake. It is a very happy environment and there are plenty of activities to keep the residents involved and happy.

On first visit I was greeted with a smile and asked if I needed any help. I was taken to the room needed and asked if I would like a cup of tea.
On future visits the same process was gone through. No one was on the desk when I went in, staff came and asked if I would like a drink.

My mother has been a resident in Meyer House Care Centre for nearly two years. She is always clean and is treated with dignity and respect. She has dementia and her needs have changed but the staff have accommodated her changes. It is hard to decide to put a loved one in residential care but I am happy
she is safe and well cared for.

The staff are friendly, helpful and kind. You can always ask questions without feeling you are being a nuisance. All the activities they do and encourage family and clients to join in, make it more like home. If you visit for a long period of time you are always offered refreshments and food.

My Dad moved into Meyer House in March 2017 after a serious illness and stay in hospital where we were told he probably wouldn't survive. I'm a Care Home Manager myself so naturally my Mum asked me to help find a Nursing Home. My Dad had 2 bad experiences of respite care in other homes, so Mum was quit
worried about him going somewhere permanently.
I found Meyer House on this website and made an appointment to visit. My first impression of the home was staff very friendly and engaging when we walked through the door, it was a little as the Manager put it "shabby chic" but had a very homely feel. Sadly, my Dad passed away 2 weeks ago, not bad considering the hospital told us he wouldn't survive. My Mum visited him most days and has been very happy with the care and attention the staff and management have provided, she has such praise for the carers. I know the difficulties faced by care homes these days, I just wanted to thank those at Meyer House for taking such good care of our Dad.

My uncle was taken to London to see Christmas lights, something he has not done in years! He is taken out quite regularly from the home, and seen more, and done more than he would have before being there. The staff and manager are all lovely, caring people who put the residents first every day. My uncle
is very happy and contented there. We were invited to their Christmas party and what a fantastic atmosphere, Elvis was there (tribute act), residents come alive with the music.

Dad moved into Meyer House in spring 2017. He was made welcome and has settled in well. As a family, this was the toughest decision we all had to make but our fears, concerns and guilt have been massively assuaged by the most fantastic support for him and us all from the staff team there. All of the
team have made us all feel at home, nothing is too much trouble and their love and care for dad has been excellent. I cannot recommend or rate them highly enough.

It was such a difficult time in our lives and a massive decision to select the right care home for our father. The moment we walked into Meyer House it had a very welcoming feel about it. Dad has settled in really well and this is down to the time and dedication of all staff involved.

"I started working at Meyer House in September 2019 when I was appointed as a Deputy Manager, and was proudly promoted to Home Manager in September 2021. Having started as a Student Nurse, I have been working in the Adult Care industry for over 11 years and I've developed and grown professionally throughout that time.


As a leading care provider, I have found Nellsar that takes the professional growth and development of every member of their staff very seriously. Since I joined Nellsar, I have had the opportunity to undertake many professional and learning developments required for my clinical development, including NVQ Level 5, ACAS Conducting Investigations, Skills For Care (Well Led Course), Practice Assessor’s Course, Pressure Ulcer training, Grey Matter training and Clinical Skills for Care.


Being a Nurse, I am able to know my residents well and cater to their needs, which brings me immense joy. When I am able to bring a ray of hope, or a smile to my residents and their families' faces, that’s the reward for me. Being a Nurse in India, we don’t get as many opportunities for learning and development, or as much support. Here, at Meyer House, I have been able to see and experience a variety of career opportunities and progression; I have been able to grow in my Career and explore different job roles.


When I first joined, most of our notes and documentation was paper based and slowly we have transitioned over to the digital care planning tool, Nourish. This means we have been able to cater to the different nursing needs of our residents in a more efficient way. We always strive to provide the best care and support for our residents and their families, inviting their input and including other Team members.


I have an excellent team at Meyer House whose prime focus is always our residents, who are the heart of our Home. My Senior Management team is very supportive and approachable. When I took over as Manager, I was overwhelmed by the care and support extended to me – everyone made me feel at ease and were always ready to guide me.


The best part about working with and leading a Care Home team is knowing that I am able to make a difference to a person's life and I am one of the reasons my residents are smiling. We at Meyer House are a big happy family, who always stand up for each other and offer the support we need."

"My name is Jibila Babu and I've been working as a Registered Nurse at Meyer House since May 2021. I have received continuous training since I joined the Home, including Grey Matter training, Fire and Safety training, MUST, Wound Care and other basic clinical skills training.


Working at Meyer House is really a pleasure, with supportive colleagues and care staff. One of the most positive changes I've witnessed in recent times is the adoption of the digital care planning tool – Nourish. Moving everything online not only saves paper and time, it means our care services and notes for our residents are more integrated.


The whole team, including the manager, is very supportive and always approachable. They have provided a tension-free, comfortable working environment and I love being part of such a leading Care Home team. I feel positively motivated and look forward to my future career at Meyer House."

“What I most enjoy about my job is seeing the residents happy and content. I love making a difference to their lives and it's wonderful to see them enjoying entertainment and interacting with other residents. I go home at the end of the day knowing I have made a difference and had an impact on others. The best thing about working as part of a team here at Meyer House is that you have always got someone to ask for advice and support you in what you are unsure about.


I joined Meyer House in 2014 and my current role is Senior Team Leader. Previously, I have worked as Team Leader, Medication Handout, Hairdresser, and I have helped out in the Laundry and the Kitchen at times too. I have seen many positive changes throughout my time here including the use of Nourish – an online care planning technology – which has made a big difference to the way we work.


I feel proud of my professional achievements. I achieved my NVQ Level 2 and 3, and love learning new things every day while working. I am currently waiting to start my NVQ Level 5 and I am really looking forward to doing it and learning new things.


In addition to my NVQs, I have completed all the mandatory training plus Health and Safety, Fire Awareness and Fire Marshal, COVID-19, Safe Guarding, Mental Health, GDPR, Palliative Care and End Of Life, and Bereavement. I look forward to more training for myself and my team in the future, including Train the Trainer; knowledge is the key to empowering staff to progress in their development.


Our team is very supportive and always willing to listen and help when they can – willing to listen to any concerns we may have and help as much as they can. Our Manager has always had an open door policy and will always meet your needs and concerns as much as she can. Together, we are putting the care back into caring; we work as part of a family as well as a team."
