This nursing home has wonderful staff who are dedicated and kind. The most important factor in any care home is management and the manager is excellent, we simply could not ask for more. In my view, all the staff here work so hard to make this a lovely, warm and caring environment for the residents.
Another very important aspect is communication. The staff listen to the family's requirements and take on board any particular requests which engenders trust and confidence.

After visiting several care homes, Park Avenue was the only one where, the moment we walked in, we felt at home. My wife, who is the main decision-maker, went off to speak with staff and residents and immediately felt comfortable and welcomed.
The management and caring staff were all very friendly,
and they took the time to show us around properly. My wife loves to dance, walk around, and help others, and I truly feel she is in the perfect home.
Reply from Charlotte Goodfellow, Home Manager at Park Avenue Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your experience and for your very kind words. It means a great deal to us to hear that Park Avenue felt like home from the moment you arrived.
Knowing that your wife can continue to enjoy dancing, walking around, and helping others here is especially lovely to hear supporting residents to be themselves and do what they love is at the heart of what we do.
Thank you again for choosing Park Avenue and for trusting us with your wife's care. We're so pleased to have her as part of our community.

Mum had been in 2 care homes prior to her admission to Park Avenue. The previous
care home was reported by two paramedics for its lack of Duty of care provided to mum. No such concerns with Park Avenue. Only wish we'd have put her in their care initially. Can't emphasise enough just how fantastic
the staff were. Fantastic rooms, spotlessly clean, the care given to mum especially whilst eating/drinking was excellent. We, as her family visited every day and found her clean and well tended. Often finding staff chatting with mum.
Sadly mum passed after a very short time. The care and support given to us was amazing and I can't praise them enough.
A big THANK YOU to all at Park Avenue. What beautiful souls you are.

From moment we walked in, we knew this was the right place. The warmth, kindness, and genuine care shown by every member of staff has been incredible. They treat residents like family, not just patients.
Knowing our loved one is safe, happy, and cared for with dignity gives us complete peace of mind.
We are extremely grateful to the entire team for everything they do.
This care home provides exceptional care in every sense. The staff are kind, patient, and attentive, always taking the time to understand residents' individual needs. Communication with families is excellent, and we are kept informed and reassured at all times.
The home itself is clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with a lovely atmosphere that truly feels like home rather than an institution. Activities are well planned and inclusive, helping residents stay engaged and happy.
I cannot thank the team enough for the compassion and professionalism they show every day. I would not hesitate to recommend this home.

I was incredibly impressed when I attended the Christmas lights switch-on at Park Avenue Care Home with my friend, whose grandma lives there. It was lovely to see so many people attend and come together to celebrate. The Christmas lights were absolutely beautiful and created such a warm, festive atmosphere.
It's clear that a lot of care and effort goes into making residents and their families feel welcome and included. A truly wonderful experience.

The staff are fabulous at Park Avenue! It's a very welcoming environment and my friend is very. happy staying there. He is no longer lonely and gets involved in many different activities that the staff put on for the residents. The food choices are great, the rooms are spacious and nothing is too
much trouble. I'd definitely recommend Park Avenue.

January 25, mum (92) moved from living on her own at home into care. We got it wrong and chose the wrong care home, quickly realising that it wasn't right for her. In three months mum really declined. We knew it wasn't right for her quite quickly and on reflection should have moved her sooner rather
than hoping things would get better!
April 25, mum moved to Park Avenue, in just a few weeks her condition has significantly improved and she is definitely now in the right place.
The management team communicate well and are a pleasure to work with, there are always enough staff on duty and the home is kept clean and tidy. Being a purpose built facility is definitely a huge advantage over the previous home which was an adapted old Edwardian house.
Park Avenue came highly recommended by a family friend and they were so right with their recommendation.
Thankyou.

My Dad was moved to the Park Avenue Care Home from hospital for end-of-life care in March 2024.
The care home was spotless, the rooms are spacious and well-equipped and the care he got was fantastic. The staff were very professional, and empathic and treated the residents with dignity we couldn't have
been happier with him going there.
The facilities in the home were fantastic - they seemed to have thought of everything.
Although my Dad didn't want to join in the activities, I could see that there were many varied activities and other forms of stimulation for the residents.
The Manager was excellent and very approachable, she operated an open-door policy and always knew what was going on with my Dad when I spoke to her.
My Dad's health improved and in fact, he actually rallied and was still with us 6 months later.
I would definitely recommend this home to other people.

Park Avenue is run extremely well by the caring, professional manager and her team.
Our father has advanced dementia but we have comfort and peace of mind knowing he is safe and being treated with dignity. The home is immaculately clean and spacious, with large bedrooms. We also find the food varied
and nutritious; the menu having recently been revamped. The activities team is also very nurturing and tries to gently engage the residents who are able with crafts etc.

My father has been a resident at Park Avenue for over 6 years now and during this time he has always received excellent care and attention, especially during some particularly trying times relating to personal matters that were dealt with sympathetically by the care home staff and management personnel.
Similarly, the way that the home dealt with the COVID pandemic was excellent, given the issues that presented in keeping residents safe, whilst still doing all that was possible to allow visits, etc. from relatives & loved ones to continue.
The staff are always polite and even when busy, which tends to be often, are able to respond quickly to any requests made. The home is clean, safe, and secure, which provides me with reassurance that my father's care needs are being met. The activities and entertainment are also good, and it is clear that effort is made by the home to include as many residents as possible in these activities.

When Mum first arrived at Park Avenue I was told by another visitor that we "had hit gold". They were certainly right. Every single member of staff is welcoming, friendly and efficient and the care Mum receives is exemplary.
The activities provided by the entertainments team are stimulating and great
fun - ranging from quizzes, singing, cheese and wine evenings. The list is endless and visitors are always encouraged to join in. The recent musical-themed BBQ was a great success.
Overall a fabulous place and most importantly Mum is so very happy living here. An enormous thank you to all the wonderful staff at Park Avenue.

The care home is kept clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful, including the manager who always greets us and chats with us when we visit. All of the staff, no matter what their role, are so friendly and build rapport with residents. The care staff and nurses are on the ball, ensuring that
medications are administered on time and residents are well cared for.
The home has lots of events throughout the year and these are shared with families, allowing them to attend and join in. Communications are excellent, with regular meetings keeping families up to date with what's going on around the home. The home has a lovely secluded garden with birds, squirrels and nice plants. It has an activity room, offering indoor space for families to come together. The carers are very organised with hospital appointments and would always call me to advise of upcoming appointments and would organise transport. The staff always call if they have any concerns about residents which is reassuring.

My mum has been in Park Avenue for 3 and a half years. I must say I am lost for words with the outstanding care she has received. The home is spotlessly clean, the staff (receptionists, cleaners, care staff, nurses, site manager and the management) are so friendly and treat my mum as family. I never
have the guilt of leaving after a visit that I did in her previous home. If only all homes were like this one. The food should be a problem as my mum can only eat purée food however they take her favourite meal and turn it into a suitable consistency which still looks appealing. I recommend this home to anyone and everyone.

My father in law was at Park Avenue Care Home and his care was the reason for my mum to become a resident in January 2021 when her dementia worsened. Despite the challenges of the past few years, the team have been brilliant in making sure my mum was comfortable and happy. The staff are always friendly

My dad was admitted to Park Avenue Care Home at the beginning of December for end-of-life care... as a family, we felt guilty and were worried about Dad being in a 'home', but he loved it there! The staff were all so friendly to us, and Dad loved them all... even if he did ask their names every day!
Dad only had five weeks with you all, but as a family, we are truly grateful for making his (and our) last few weeks together memorable and comfortable. Thank you all so much.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.868)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.868) out of 10 for Park Avenue Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.968 for Park Avenue Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (182 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 187 Ratings = 4.968
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Park Avenue Care Home is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Charlotte

Charlotte Goodfellow

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2019

Charlotte qualified as an Adult Registered Nurse from the University of Southampton in 2014 and began her nursing career in an Accident and Emergency Department. Whilst she loved the excitement and adrenaline of working an A&E, she found herself wanting to spend more time with her patients and their families. So, she decided to discover what other avenues were available outside of the acute hospital setting.

In March 2019, Charlotte joined Park Avenue as a Bank Nurse, and found this new direction exceptionally satisfying. In October 2019, Charlotte took up the position of Deputy Manager at Park Avenue Care Home, before moving to a leadership capacity in a sister home in November 2020. Now, she has returned to Park Avenue as Home Manager, and looks forward to partnering with the people who live in our homes, their families and friends.
