My Aunt stayed at Park Avenue for a respite stay following a fall at home. We thought that a month would be too long of a stay but that little extra time was needed. My Aunt built her strength and was able to return home with a package of care. The manager was so supportive through the whole process
and is a credit to the home. Her team are so caring and want the best for all their residents. If my Aunt requires long term care then we would be choosing Park Avenue as a permanent home.

I took over the care of my mother-in-law after my husband died. My mother-in-law was diagnosed with vascular dementia and her condition rapidly deteriorated. I had to take the difficult decision to place her in a nursing home for her own safety and well being in October 2019.
My friend and I researched
and visited a few but once we visited Park Avenue I knew that I'd found the right one.
The building itself is very well maintained. The en suite rooms are tastefully decorated, very warm and smell nice. The meals are fresh and tailored to any dietary needs and requirements. The dining and common room areas have very good facilities. They also have lots of recreational activities. My mother-in-law was happy, gained weight and looked very well and I had peace of mind that she was safe.
My mother-in-law is now deteriorating healthwise due to her advancing years, but the team continue to care for her very well and they kept me updated during the Covid crisis.
The manager and her team are kind, approachable and very professional.

Mum is cared for with respect, compassion and professionalism. She has a lovely, bright room that is kept clean and the nursing staff are close by. Staff go the extra mile to ensure visitors feel very welcome and have made huge changes in order to keep residents Covid safe. I recommend Park Avenue Care

We are extremely glad to have Park Avenue as the care home for my father-in-law. He moved to the home in summer 2020, with dementia. He is looked after very well, with rigorous attention to good process, coupled with a universally caring and considerate approach, both to him and to us. The facilities
(as far as we've been able to see them!) are modern and well-maintained, all staff whatever their function are friendly, kind and clearly very good at their jobs and the manager of the home is outstanding. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the communication with all our family has been really good and the Park Avenue team also have a never-ending stream of ideas to keep life interesting and varied for the residents. Strongly recommend!

The care team are very attentive and caring. The home is running by a very capable care manager. We recently had to move mum to a new care home as unfortunately, her last residence closed. We couldn't be happier. It's a place of calm for mum.

The care of my mother has been excellent. Occasionally they mislay some of her belongings which can be a nuisance when we have to replace but I suppose this is usual in all care homes but otherwise, we have been very pleased to date with her care.

Park Avenue care home has been my saviour. My husband is a very happy contented resident. Regretfully we have been in lockdown but I have been able to book regular FaceTime appointments which have been very successful (no-masks). The staff really show genuine kindness and care when speaking and tending
to residents. They are stimulated with many activities and have lots of fun and laughter mainly instigated by “Wonder Woman” the manager. I have no hesitation in recommending Park Avenue for a loved one.

My brother moved in last year at the start of the pandemic due to his other care home closing. From day one the staff were fantastic. The room he has is fantastic with all his creature comforts and the staff are amazing. The manager always keeps us up to date on everything and my brother's well-being.
Park Avenue is a great care facility and we are so pleased my brother got in there when he did.

My mother has been a resident at Park Avenue since August 2015. During this time she has had incredible care. She suffers with dementia and could be quite difficult at times. The staff have always gone out of their way to treat her with kindness and respect. The past year has been very difficult as
visits have had to be limited. The manager and staff have gone to great lengths to keep us informed and reassured.
The local GP is very involved with the home and played a key role in the vaccination programme. I feel that the care Mum has received has prolonged her life and I am very pleased to know that throughout these difficult times she is safe.

Our mum sadly had to move from Park Avenue's sister home in April as they were closing down. It was such a worrying time and we really didn't think we would find a home as great as the home she was in. How wrong we were, head office assured us they would look after Mum and assist us as a family with
the move, they went above and beyond and Mum moved without a hitch. She settled in immediately and on our first visit, a few days later, she was clearly very happy. As Mum has dementia it was a real worry she would find the move difficult and take some time to settle in, but she didn't and I believe that is all down to the staff at the home. Everybody we have met have been fantastic and so caring, they treat Mum as if she has lived there for years. We are so grateful that Mum is able to call Park Avenue her home and feel relieved knowing she is well looked after. A big thank you to the manager and her team for their outstanding care and compassion.

My mother had to be moved from her previous home while lockdown restrictions were in place, we were not able to see the home but the manager sent us pictures and a small video. Since my mother has been a resident of Park Avenue I can't speak highly enough of the care she has received, we receive regular
updates on her welfare, all the staff that we have met are all so friendly, the manager is also amazing always trying to improve and enhance the residents' wellbeing.

My Mum has been at this home for over 2 years now and it has been an absolute Godsend.
She is so well looked after and the staff are wonderful. The communication from the manager is spot on and we have been able to keep in touch, throughout the pandemic, via regular video calls that are always graciously
arranged by the lovely nurses. I can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Mum stayed at Park Avenue initially for 4 weeks respite and is now a permanent resident. From the first enquiry, the communication and support has been outstanding. The rooms are beautiful and spotlessly clean. All the staff I have met have been caring and friendly. Mum has settled well, says the food
is very nice and enjoys the activities. Would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

The staff went way beyond what one would have expected to help my wife and I to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. It made our day and I think possibly got my wife to remember who I was. What wonderful staff, it made me feel part of the home and helped to make me realise that she is being cared
for in a most loving way. My thanks to one and all.

Our dear mum moved into Park Avenue early January and my sister and I have been extremely happy with the care and love she has received from everyone, especially in these difficult Covid times. All the staff are very approachable and informative regarding Mum's care, and we look forward to having more
access as lockdown eases and she embarks on the next stage of her life within the very comfortable surroundings of Park Avenue. Our Mum is never stressed or upset when we leave after our visit and talks about the new friends she has made and what has been happening. It is a great comfort to my sister and I that she is happy and makes us realise that we took the right decision when we chose Park Avenue.

My mum moved into Park Avenue in August 2020. It was in the middle of the pandemic and as a family, we were all anxious and worried as to whether she would settle or not.
From the moment she arrived the manager and staff have done everything they can to ensure she is safe, happy and well cared for.
They
are always so kind and welcoming.
Mum recently celebrated her 90th birthday and the staff made sure she had a special day by decorating the lounge with banners and balloons and even baked her a lovely cake.
Mum always tells me how lovely everyone is and how they are all so kind to her.
Whenever I visit it is a pleasure to see Mum looking so well and I always leave feeling confident that she is safe and happy.
I would highly recommend Park Avenue.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.948)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.948) out of 10 for Excelcare Park Avenue Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.973 for Excelcare Park Avenue Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (218 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 223 Ratings = 4.973
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Excelcare Park Avenue Care Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

In March 2019, Charlotte joined Park Avenue as a Bank Nurse, and found this new direction exceptionally satisfying. In October 2019, Charlotte took up the position of Deputy Manager at Park Avenue Care Home, before moving to a leadership capacity in a sister home in November 2020. Now, she has returned to Park Avenue as Home Manager, and looks forward to partnering with the people who live in our homes, their families and friends.
