Very well run home, strictly kept to the Covid visiting rules, helpful staff and any queries are dealt with quickly. They also arrange lots of treats like Valentine's day tea. Also, they have regular zoom meetings for the relatives, which is very good.

My mother in law has vascular dementia and she has been in the excellent care of Park Avenue since December 2018. She is extremely well cared for, with an excellent meal plan, always clean, with a room nicer than mine. Throughout the pandemic, the home has been incredible, fantastic communication, taking
fantastic care of her and keeping us informed if they have any concerns. The Manager and the team are all first-rate professionals, every member of staff friendly and welcoming, from the lady on reception, the cleaners and catering staff. Total respect for the job that you guys do. Cannot recommend Park Avenue well enough.

So amazed with the whole set up of Park Avenue from the reception staff up to management even the lovely member who looks after the maintenance. Every single person has been amazing so caring and gone above and beyond to settle my dad. Dad had to move into Park Avenue in October 2020 due to Lewy body
dementia and vascular and it was so hard to admit he needed this care. We were in the middle of a pandemic and the care home went above and beyond to settle Dad and reassure us. Thank you to all of you.

My grandad came to the home in October, it’s so sad to see how much he’s changed but how comfortable and well looked after. Even through Covid, they have helped our family so much. Thank you all so much. The home is beautiful and the staff are amazing.

My husband has Lewy bodies and vascular dementia and he has been a resident at Park Avenue for 6 months. Such awful times with the pandemic and stress not being able to be with him. The home has done a fantastic job of making sure we are both looked after. His carers and staff are so thoughtful and
have made sure he has all he needs. The home is well run, can’t thank them enough.

The staff are very attentive and seem to genuinely care for the residents. They organise lots of activities that help to stimulate my father and keep him somewhat active. He is being well looked after and I have peace of mind knowing that.

We could no longer give our mum the experienced care and pain relief she needed from home. This was a difficult thing to admit to ourselves, but from the moment I spoke with the manager at Park Avenue, I had a gut instinct this was the place for mum. Fortunately, she got to spend the last 5-days of
her life in this amazing care home; our only regret is she did not get to appreciate that where she was is a wonderful, homely, happy place to be. Every single person who cared for Mum in her last few days did with expertise, compassion, kindness and respect. We are so thankful the home allowed us with exemplary Covid measures to be by her bedside the last few days. I can only imagine what loved ones of the residents are going through with the current restrictions, but I hope it brings some comfort that what I witnessed there is nothing, but love, within a true family environment. The manager's support goes above and beyond, and her and her team are angels, and we will be forever grateful to them.

My grandad spent the last month's of his life at Park Avenue care home. The place itself is lovely, calm and clean and felt like a home away from home. It was a daunting prospect for him and the rest of our family especially with the concerns surrounding covid. The staff did absolutely everything to
make him feel at home and relaxed, whilst providing us with the comfort at every opportunity that he was being looked after to the highest standard. We were able to regularly Skype with him and they had facilities to allow safe contact-free visits with my nan. Everyone treated him with the utmost respect and humility and it was lovely to hear from them about their conversations with him about cherished past times. The staff are an absolute credit to the place and we are eternally grateful as a family for their efforts through such a difficult time.

Dad moved Into Park Avenue in October 2020, his dementia sadly got worse very quickly. He was welcomed with open arms by all staff members, the manager is like one of your own and makes you feel so at ease with leaving our father in their care. I can’t fault anything with the home, even down to the
happy maintenance man who brightens Dad's day daily. Thank you all so much for looking after my dad.

The care my father receives from Park Avenue is excellent. When he first came to the care home several years ago, he was very weak having suffered a life-threatening bout of flu followed by complications. The staff basically brought him back to life through their efforts. He is still making progress
and is now regaining independence. I have been so impressed by the activities and personal care provided by the home and by the dedication of managers and all staff. During covid, infection control has been exemplary demonstrating the professionalism and high standards maintained by staff. My dad is very happy at Park Avenue and we are so grateful that he is able to enjoy life and have such wonderful care.

Our dad had to move to a care home as an emergency case during lockdown when our mum became unwell. We were unable to view the home before we agreed to Dad becoming a resident there and had to rely on CQC report and reviews. Now, we are so grateful that Dad was admitted to Park Avenue, rather than any
other care home. The manager is wonderful, she has been so kind and supportive. Every member of staff we have dealt with has been similarly great. Dad often tells us: "They are taking good care of me in here" but we can also see that is true with our own eyes. He's happy, settled and hasn't once complained of anything or asked to come home. I would recommend Park Avenue without hesitation. It has been hard when we haven't been allowed to visit at various points in the lockdown. However, a niece has given him an iPad, and staff have been very helpful in calling us from that, so we can speak with Dad on screen, which is better than the telephone for him and for us.

Park Avenue Care Home has been providing Mums' care since July. For me, this is a fantastic care home.
The staff from cleaners to managers are fantastic, nothing is to much trouble for them. Whether its an update or care. They are always on hand to help.
With the current situation with covid-19,
I have to say that I'm extremely appreciative of all the hard work they are doing to keep Mum safe. Yes, it's disappointing at the moment that I'm unable to visit but putting Mum's health before my own feelings make me feel that Mum is safe and in very good hands.

Our dad recently passed away at Park Avenue having spent the last ten months in their exceptional care. He was truly loved, comforted and cared for by the staff at Park Avenue. Dad lost his battle with ill health but had the most peaceful passing that we could have wished for. Despite not being able
to visit indoors for sometime we had been able to see Dad on visits to the garden over the summer and on Facetime but when it came to his last few days we were allowed to be with him in his room and spent precious time with him. The staff were able to tell us stories of his antics and what they loved about him which was really wonderful for us and fully reinforced that he could not have had better care. The staff looked after us and were incredibly kind to him, caring for him right up until the end. We will be forever in their debt.
We will miss the staff very much, they are friendly, kind, compassionate and caring and we really cannot thank them enough for their care of our Dad.

My mother has been at Park Avenue since Dec 19 and it took at least 3 months for her to settle in.
She is much happier now than she has been for 2 years, she is safe and well looked after. The home dealt with the Covid situation very well and closed the home to visitors before they locked down the

We were fortunate to happen upon Park Avenue Care Home when we were placed in the critical situation of having to find a replacement as the previous one was closing in a very short time. It was a shocking situation for all concerned. I am still amazed and delighted at our fortune at finding Park Avenue
Care Home.
Dealings with them have been wonderfully smooth right from the start, and we were lucky to have a place for my aunt. Everything there is exceptionally good, not least their brilliant team, at all levels. The home is lovely, purpose-built, spacious and kept so clean and safe. The attention and care for the residents and visitors, checking their requirements and needs is second to none. There are many activities, physio etc to be involved in with a beautiful garden. The staff have regular catch up meetings keeping all up to date. It is a very happy place and their staff are a dedicated, hard-working and loving team. I am so grateful to them all. They helped my aunt a peaceful, caring passing at the end of life. Thank you to them all.

Well, what can I say, My mother came to Park Avenue just over 4 months ago, and more or less from day one she loved the care that she was receiving and her surroundings, My Mother sadly passed away recently and the support and care we received as family from Park Avenue was so appreciated at this hard
time, myself and my sister visited Mum every day without fail, so Park Avenue basically became a home for us as well. My mother was treated with so much care love and dignity from the carers and nurses and appreciated the care that she was given. Mum always said if I can stay here I am not going back home, we as a family were very lucky to find such a lovely home and love and care she received. I once again thank you all for being there for my mum and the family, and would highly recommend Park Avenue to anyone who needs care.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.948)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.948) out of 10 for Excelcare Park Avenue Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.973 for Excelcare Park Avenue Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (218 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 223 Ratings = 4.973
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Excelcare Park Avenue Care Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

So, she decided to discover what other avenues were available outside of the acute hospital setting.

In March 2019, Charlotte joined Park Avenue as a Bank Nurse, and found this new direction exceptionally satisfying. In October 2019, Charlotte took up the position of Deputy Manager at Park Avenue Care Home, before moving to a leadership capacity in a sister home in November 2020. Now, she has returned to Park Avenue as Home Manager, and looks forward to partnering with the people who live in our homes, their families and friends.
