I was with my family member (resident) holding a meeting in her room with an outside professional. Unbeknown to the staff, they came in 3 times to check her. I was very impressed. At lunchtime, they (carer) came and escorted my family member to the dining room and sat her up the table and fed her her
meal. Very dignified and caring. Thank you.

The organisation is a fantastic organisation but the management and staff are unprofessional. I personally believe there's a lot of improvement needed, the way staff communication skills are very poor.
Reply from Sue Ann Balcombe, General Manager at Priscilla Wakefield HouseIt is extremely disappointing to receive this review as we have recently had a meeting with you and you left the meeting happy with the way in which you received feedback from the team. You are also not the son of the resident and neither are you a next of kin hence we are bound by the GDPR law to ensure we protect the individuals who are in our care. We are happy to explore any further concerns you feel are not addressed.

Mum has been at Priscilla Wakefield House since July 2018. The staff are helpful and friendly and caring towards Mum and other residents.
They communicate any issues quickly and sensitively. You are welcome to visit unannounced at any time which is reassuring.
The 'cafe' facility on site at reception
is wonderful; breakfast and supper clubs run at the 'cafe' feel like a trip out and Mum really enjoys regular visit here - activities team are absolutely lovely.
Thank you.

- Our mother arrived at Priscilla Wakefield House from hospital where she was a patient for 6 weeks hardly speaking, eating, walking or socialising.
- Over the 5 week assessment stay on Copperfield, mum has greatly improved due to the superb caring and professionalism of all the nurses, carers, regular
activities and making friends with other residents.
Thank you.

My mother spent just under 2 weeks in Priscilla Wakefield House, she was 96 and in the later stages of Alzheimer's: sadly she passed away earlier this week.

All the staff I had contact with were lovely, genuine, dedicated people, coping with dementia patients is not an easy thing to do and I admired

their thorough professionalism and duty to care. It has been reassuring to know at the end of her life, my mother was in such good hands.

Priscilla Wakefield House is a good place to be looked after. Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful to the residents. Sometimes there is a shortage of staff (carers). It is important for the residents to have a full-time staff because their needs are non-stop around the clock. The place is
clean, they do a lot of activities, I must congratulate the staff in the office who create all sorts of activities. My general opinion for Priscilla Wakefield House is positive. We thank you for taking care of the relatives. You do your best.

Staff and coordinators need to be more focused on the care of its residents than other excellent factors. Also, nurses need to be more considerate towards the elderly and actually do their duties that they are legally required to do. A lot of complaints and arguments have had an outcome of a better
care plan in place, situation good for now but more training is needed for staff.
Reply from Sue Ann Balcombe, General Manager at Priscilla Wakefield HouseSorry you have had this experience. It is imperative that any such concerns or issues be raised with the management team so that such issues can be addressed and dealt with efficiently, as we would then be able to continue to improve care not just for your relative, but all the individuals living at Priscilla Wakefield.

My mother has been a resident at PWH (Priscilla Wakefield House) since 2012 and sadly passed away in Dec 2106. I wanted to formally thank the staff at the home for their kindness support and genuine care that they have provided. She had been a challenging resident at times and the staff dealt with her
with dignity, respect and most of all her best interest at heart. This had continued throughout and even in her extreme decline, staff who have known her still continued to visit even just to say hello. We really felt that the staff have provided our family with a first rate service and it has eased our pain with the knowledge that she was in a safe pair of hands. This had extended until the end, her last few days the staff looked after all the family and she died peacefully. We commend the staff at PWH, with recognition given to all employees for providing care as it should be given, these have been difficult times for family and friends but rest assured we have been blessed.

My mom has been a resident on the residential unit at Priscilla Wakefield since February 2016. She sadly died in December, but the care at this nursing home was exceptional. Staff were always willing to please and went the extra mile. I can remember many times when I came and saw staff communicating
with her and they were always in her room and cheering her up as she was often in a low mood due to her condition. The activities team at Priscilla are second to none. They make such an effort to engage with the residents and involve the community. I must say that the care and the management is responsive and I am happy to have found a nursing home like this one for my mom.

I am writing to recommend this nursing home for its exceptional care given to my dad. My dad is a current resident of this home and since he was admitted in June 2016, he has improved tremendously in terms of his mobility and his speech and this is all due to the care he receives at the nursing home.
The carers work hard but they always find the time for him and the unit leaders always give me feedback when there are issues relating to my dad's care. No doubt there are some occasions where thing can go wrong but they are quick to sort them out and I am confident in their ability to do this. I am happy with the care and I would recommend this home to anyone needing care.

I have been visiting my sister at this home since 2013 as she was admitted to a nursing unit at this home. I have seen such immense improvements over these years and how well the teams are working when they have good leadership. I have always been offered refreshments when I enter reception and the
receptionists always greet me with a smile. When I enter the unit, the staff are friendly and welcoming. The team are always quick to respond to things going on and they are always supportive of my sister and makes her feel at home. I wouldn't have chosen a better care home.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.654)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.654) out of 10 for Priscilla Wakefield House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 36 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 36 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.654 for Priscilla Wakefield House is calculated as follows: ( (287 Excellents x 5) + (106 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 410 Ratings = 4.654
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Priscilla Wakefield House is based on 36 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 117 registered maximum number of service users is 23.4, which has been reached with 36 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
