I was impressed with the warm welcoming and caring from the staff. We were always made welcome and staff showed attentiveness during every visit. They also kindly allowed us to have a memorial at the care home, which they caringly arranged and created a lovely afternoon. It's certainly a special nursing
home.

My dad was at Southborough from April 2025 until December 2025 when he passed away. The staff at Soutborough are what make it. Dad was treated with care, compassion, and dignity throughout his time at Southborough. When dad passed away, we asked if we could have a memorial event at Southborough which,
despite being incredibly busy, the manager and lifestyle lead agreed to do. Dad's memorial was a lovely event which our family will remember forever- and we are grateful to the team for all of their help and support.

The staff at Southborough have been nothing short of amazing. Mum arrived very distressed, not eating and struggling with her dementia diagnosis. Since arriving, she is a different person. Happy, engaging and eating- the best she has been. Staff are kind, caring and compassionate and go above and beyond.

Dad spent the last months of his life at Southborough after an initial failed previous placement at another home. We are so grateful that he was there. The staff treated him and us as special and they were all so kind, compassionate, approachable, communicative. He was always clean and well presented
even though his dementia behaviour must have made this difficult. His room was always clean too.
We have such fond memories of Southborough even though Dad passed away there - he could not have been at a better more supportive home. The events coordinator made such an effort for him, and all staff looked after him so well. His palliative care was so careful and considerate and thorough. Thank you all so much - you can't underestimate how important it is that families can look back on this experience when loved ones pass away - your job is SO important and makes such a huge difference I hope you know that.
Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, On behalf of the team at SouthboroughThank you for sharing such a moving and heartfelt tribute to your dad's time at Southborough. It's incredibly touching to know he was made to feel cared for, respected and supported in his final months, and that your family felt the same warmth and compassion. Your words are a powerful reminder of why we do what we do, and they will mean so much to every member of the team.

My partner of 28 years passed away last October after spending just over the last year if his life at Southborough. This was the 3rd time that we had moved him from the previous 2 homes that were fit for nothing! From the first moment my family and I stepped inside Southborough, we were so impressed
by the facilities, the caring and kindness of the wonderful staff. Top quality, I would describe it as. The food was wonderful, cleanliness, the laundry was very good. The entertainment was carried out at a top quality. I refer to the staff there as my friends whom I will always be grateful to for their caring and kindness. Can't thank them enough.

Southborough Nursing Home is a lovely warm friendly place to be, both for the resident and the family. My Aunt has settled in there over the last 20 months and has absolutely thrived. She treats the nursing staff like her family and vice versa. When I visit I feel as if the whole place is hugging me
and welcoming me in with so much warmth and love. I'm pretty sure this is how my dear aunt feels, too. I'm grateful that her later years in life are spent in the safety and love of this nursing home.

Mum has been a resident of Southborough for 2 1/2 years and is coming to the end of her dementia journey. Southborough Care Home is a wonderful place, set in beautiful and peaceful grounds. The management team is highly professional, and the nurses and care assistants are incredibly attentive and caring. What truly stands out is the inclusivity and creativity of the activities led by the Head of Activities,
who ensures that every resident feels involved and valued. One of the most reassuring aspects for me is the regular updates I receive through the private MYO app. Seeing pictures and videos of my loved one engaging in various activities brings so much comfort, as it allows me to feel connected to their daily life, even from a distance. The home strikes a great balance between professionalism, warmth, and genuine care. It's clear that the team is dedicated to creating a welcoming, stimulating, and supportive environment for all residents. I feel confident knowing my loved one is in such safe and compassionate hands.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.726)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.726) out of 10 for Southborough is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.726 for Southborough is calculated as follows: ( (259 Excellents x 5) + (69 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 340 Ratings = 4.726
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Southborough is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
