Southborough lies at the heart of prestigious Southborough conservation area of Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames.
The Home has been formed by joining two Victorian houses built around 1885 in the parklands of Southborough Place – a building of special architectural and historical interest. This is how the Home has earned its name.
Care workers pride themselves on providing the best possible care in a friendly and homely atmosphere. The Home has been carefully equipped throughout to meet the special needs of all residents and to provide a safe and comfortable environment. The 2 luxurious lounges provide an atmosphere of traditional grandeur in a Victorian drawing room setting with the cosiness of modern style and overlooking the beautiful landscaped gardens.
Southborough offers the choice of single or double bedrooms depending on the availability. Each room is decorated and furnished to a high standard. Care workers encourage residents to bring their personal possessions to personalise their rooms and make them feel even more at home.
The home can cater for both long and short-term stays. Regular respite care can be arranged as often as you wish.

The Review Score of 8.5 (maximum of 10) for Southborough Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 11 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Southborough Nursing Home in Google's Search Results - more info
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.
The Average Rating of 4.308 for Southborough Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (51 Excellents x 5) + (68 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 130 Ratings = 4.308
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.
If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.
The 4.194 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Southborough Nursing Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:
3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.75
Target of 9 positive Reviews (45 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 4 Reviews ÷ 9 Target = 0.444
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My Mother was treated with humanity, dignity, respect and kindness. All of which the family are grateful. A special mention about the nursing/ healthcare staff, who far exceeded their core role in their politeness and general helpfulness to us visitors and also their service users.
Thank you all very much.

My aunt has been a resident for just under a year, so enough time to form a considered opinion. Due to a decline in health, I have seen at first hand how the home caters for both a relatively capable resident and more recently one confined to her bed.
Overall, my aunt has been happy at the home, though her health decline has inevitably affected this.
The variety of lounges available to residents is a bonus, as is the range of activities. My aunt particularly enjoyed the trip to Hampton Court and winning the bingo!
The food has a 5* hygiene rating and appears excellent but I have only rated it good simply because my aunt can only consume pureed food and has limited taste so it's hard to judge objectively.
The staff are mostly well motivated and there appears to be a planned training programme.
Finally, one note of caution. The home changed ownership in about March this year and time will tell what medium/long term impact this will have.

Mum has been in Southborough Nursing Home 3 months now. The home is very pleasant. The staff are always smiling and make you feel most welcome. I chose Southborough for mum because it felt like a home and not a hospital. Mum always enjoys the food, it also has a beautiful garden. I have noticed a marked change in mum, she was very withdrawn and self-neglecting when living alone. Since entering Southborough, she now smiles a lot and is very contented in her new home. Great home that is safe and caring.

My wife of sixty years had a stroke which left her unable to stand, swallow and speak in slow signs of understanding. From my point of view, Southborough Nursing Home staff have shown my wife gentle care and understanding of her physical and mental difficulties.

Southborough Nursing Home has a warm and caring atmosphere. I feel the staff do know my mother and are always helpful, supportive and caring and kind to her and to her family. I was pleased to see fresh energy and enthusiasm for activities within the home for residents as well as outings. My sister and I both live a long way from Southborough Nursing Home but over the last year have been able to facetime our mother thanks to the help of the activities coordinator, this has been a great joy and worth such a lot to us and I believe to my mother.

My mother has been here almost six months, having moved from a nearby nursing home which closed. Once settled she has been content here, treated will and with regard to her own needs. She is mentally very alert, enjoys quizzes and conversation within limits of her deafness. She enjoys her food and for the most part is good. The staff are unfailing friendly though sometimes short staffed. Communication with families is excellent.

A cerebral stroke forced by mother in law to move from the comfort of her own home into residential care. After visiting a number of care homes in despair, I found Southborough to be the most homely. It is very clean, light and airy. The location, property and grounds are delightful. The manager is so lovely and really cares for the residents, and manages her staff efficiently. The staff are always so welcoming, and greet you with a big smile what ever time you visit. My mother in law, is always clean and dressed well, and above all, she is very happy. They even have an aromatherapist who uses lovely smelling potions to gently massage and relax the residents, and the activities coordinator is fantastic! making sure everyone joins in regardless of capability. If you are worried about placing your loved one in a nursing home like we were, I can recommend Southborough Nursing Home unreservedly.
