My dad was a resident of Annandale Lodge Care Home for 5 years.
Leaving his own home was an extremely difficult decision for him but, from the outset, he felt 'at home' settling quickly into his new home. The staff team work together well and all played their part in making Dad's time at Annandale happy and contented.
He loved his room which was well suited to his needs - and also loved the food! He thoroughly enjoyed the variety of social activities on offer to him: in-house visits from singers, quizzes, coffee mornings and fayres as well as trips out to local pubs, canal boat cruises and the theatre.

Sadly, Dad passed away in June, very peacefully. We were fortunate to have been given unrestricted visiting to him during his last days and saw first hand how well he was cared for. Staff were extremely supportive of us as family members - keeping us well informed at all times and helping us to understand what to expect at each stage. This helped us a great deal at a very difficult time.

The staff of Annandale are lovely. In spite of all the difficulties arising from covid, still remain kind, patient, and manage to keep their sense of humour.

The staff were very polite, respectful and helpful when communicating by phone or personally. The home looked spotlessly clean and has a lovely homely feeling to it. The staff always informed us of any issues regarding Aunite when needed.

Our Aunt was apprehensive at being admitted to Annandale Lodge, however with time her confidence grew. She loved the resident cat. The staff were kind and patient and nothing was too much trouble should a request be made. We were always updated of any change in her condition. Sadly Aunt was approaching end of life and had the full support of the staff and multidisciplinary team. On the day of her passing, I was phoned to come in the early morning and throughout the day the staff were attentive to both of us, also allowing my privacy as Aunt passed away. The family thanks all the staff for being professional, courteous and foremost caring. Thank you.

Annandale Lodge provided excellent compassionate care for my Aunt in the final 2 years of her life. The Manager and Staff work tirelessly to meet each resident's need, arranging wheelchair walks around the small park opposite the Home, and into the town if requested. The formal social programme gave each resident some enjoyable activities and armchair exercise. When relatives were unable to attend Hospital visits, a member of staff was provided to give reassuring support. On the rare occasions when my Aunt mentioned a difficulty, the Manager and Staff immediately took action. My Aunt's television failed and the Home quickly replaced it with one of their own.

In the final days, communication with the Manager and Nursing Staff was fantastic, with technology being used for WhatsApp Voicenotes and video calls to my Aunt, whilst necessary limitations on visitors were in place. I would not hesitate to recommend Annandale Lodge to anyone looking for a Nursing Care Home.

My Dad was looked after at Annandale Lodge from September 2019 until his death in April 2020. I cannot praise the staff at the home enough for the care and attention they gave my Dad. Whilst it was not his choice to end up in a nursing home, his medical condition meant that he needed 24/7 care and I honestly don't think we could have found a better place for him than Annandale. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff, be it bringing food, drinks, medication or just popping in for a chat to see how he was. All the staff, from the cleaners and cooks, to the carers and nurses, treated him with respect and dignity and did their utmost to make him as comfortable as possible. They also made his family and his friends welcome, which meant that (until lock-down), he was able to have a constant stream of visitors who enjoyed visiting him in the home, not just because they wanted to see him, but partly due to the overall welcoming feel of the home and the staff.

My nan was a resident for over 2 years at Annandale Lodge and sadly passed away 1st March 2020, just a few days from the grand age of 102. Myself and my mother were regular visitors at different times, the care team were always welcoming and friendly. We were offered drinks and if we timed it right the occasional slice of cake! The team were dedicated to ensuring nan felt safe, happy and was treated with care and dignity, they are all amazing people.
The home was clean, tidy and welcoming with plenty of space to allow residents to socialise. Nan would often comment on how good the food was too.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Annandale Lodge - this is how all care homes should be - feeling part of an extended family.

My husband has been a resident since the end of September 2019 and I cannot praise all of the staff enough for the way they have looked after him, myself and the many friends who have visited him at different times of the day or joined us for the coffee mornings prior to the virus lockdown. We have all been made welcome, given drinks etc and nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff who go about their work in a very professional way. I think there is a lovely atmosphere at Annandale as the staff appear to be enjoy their work and they make time to talk with the residents such that we both feel that they have become like an extended family to us. I can see why they were given "outstanding" for care at the last CQC assessment and I am really pleased that they had a vacancy when I was looking for a nursing home for my husband on his discharge from hospital. Having him at Annandale has enabled me to stop being his exhausted carer and enjoy just being his wife.

I moved into Annandale Lodge at the end of September 2019 intending for it to be a temporary measure until my home was ready for me. It soon became apparent that I was not, and never would be, strong enough to return to my former home, so the decision was made for me to spend my remaining time at Annandale. This was a very difficult choice to make, but Annandale made it a lot simpler than it would otherwise have been. My wife and I have slotted into the 'community' with a minimum of fuss and the care that I receive has been extended to include her. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the wonderful staff, and I thank them from the bottom of my heart for the care and attention that we have received.

We have visited our relative weekly for several months now. She appears happier and she has gained some weight and always looks clean and well dressed. All the staff are friendly and they treat her with dignity and respect. Seats are always provided for us and we are offered drinks. I can recommend the care at Annandale Lodge Care Home!

I have been visiting a resident in Annandale Lodge over the past year, until her recent death. I believe she received the same excellent care that my mother in law received there several years ago.

I have found the staff always pleasant and friendly and helpful and was always treated with care and dignity during her difficult suffering. She always looked clean.

As I am bed bound, I need to be hoisted out of bed. I find this is done very gently and organised, I am finding that their care is wonderful and the charm and personalities of the staff is excellent. The food is good, home-cooked food presented very nicely and as the staff are so caring, I cannot find anything to complain about in this excellent nursing home.

My mother recently spent a number of months at Annandale, following a spell in hospital. When she went into Annandale, she was very poorly and she was not expected to ever go home. The manager and all her team were just wonderful, nothing was too much trouble for them, they got my mother eating and walking again, and she was able to go home!
Every member of staff was friendly and obliging. The food was excellent. The care she received was outstanding. She had a number of medical issues and these were all dealt with in an exemplary manner.

I cannot recommend Annandale highly enough. I feel fortunate that a space was available. If my mother needs nursing care again, this will be my first call.

Mum was here for respite after an eight week stay in hospital. She has always been opposed to 'going into a home' but her first words were 'I didn't think it would be like this'.
More recently she has said that she couldn't be looked after better.

She is now permanent. The staff are professional and friendly, we couldn't be happier with her care - thank you.

My grandmother was a resident here for nearly four years. In all that time we never witnessed a single incident that caused us concern. Every staff member was caring, considerate and spent time as needed with every resident. All the residents were treated with the utmost dignity and it was obvious the staff cared about the residents. The facilities are well kept and the home is looked after and maintained well. I would not hesitate to recommend Annadale Lodge based on the current staff and manager and the care experience my grandmother received up until her death in March 2018.

My father went into Annandale Lodge in March 2018 from a 5-week stay in hospital, where we thought we might lose him. The team and the manager at Annandale have worked tirelessly to improve my father's condition, encourage him to eat and drink and improved matters considerably. He is now more comfortable and well looked after. On the basis of our experience, we would recommend this home to others.
