Mum went to New Meppershall Care Home at the end of August 2023 and stayed until mid-January. As a family we were initially angry and annoyed that she'd been placed here....how wrong we were! Meppershall couldn't have helped Mum more and we as a family were upset that she couldn't stay for longer. The
whole team were outstanding and lovely but special thanks to three members of staff in particular and the manager. Mum's now moved closer to her own home in another location and seems to have settled in quickly but our family couldn't recommend Meppershall enough for the care they gave mum. We'll definitely keep in touch!

I would like to endorse the ‘home’ for their exemplary care of my mother. She was very well looked after during her stay there. The home itself was spotless and smelt fresh. She was always telling me how lovely the carers were. They were kind, gentle and patient, and took great care when washing/dressing/moving
her.
They made sure that she was kept clean and comfortable, and the laundry service was second to none! We were very impressed with the way the medical staff at Meppershall took care of Mum.
Very important to my mum was the food! The menu was varied and looked appetising. It was well prepared and presented, and ‘hot’ food always hot.
There were plenty of activities for the residents. While she was there, she was visited by two small ‘trick/treaters’ giving out sweets, she watched some fireworks, there were weekly visits from a therapy dog, a pantomime, carol singing with children from a local school, and an entertainer who sang Christmas songs.

Very efficiently run home, with caring and approachable staff who really care for their residents and their families.
Everywhere is very clean but not clinical. There is always staff around to help and assist with any queries/requests.

My husband stayed at New Meppershall Care Home over several weeks for assessment, before moving to a permanent nursing home.
Without exception, all the staff were polite, friendly, always available to help and showed empathy, which was very comforting during the stay.

Although Mum’s stay here was short, the care and attention she received was fantastic.
It was her birthday when she arrived, I only mentioned it as an aside, but a cake was arranged at very short notice.
It was a confusing time for Mum after her stay in hospital and all the staff did their utmost
to make her feel welcome and we know she was very well cared for. As a family, we’re all very grateful - thank you.

My mum was really well cared for and happy, she particularly enjoyed the social interaction and was never left alone. We always felt very welcome too. The staff and carers are so kind and friendly. She spent time at New Meppershall for a few weeks of convalescence after hospital.

My gran spent a few weeks here whilst waiting for a permanent residence elsewhere and the care she had was very very good. The building was well secured and you had to be buzzed in to gain access. The room she had was quite spacious and had all the facilities she needed. The carers were very friendly
and more than willing to assist her when needed. The building was clean and tidy and staff were always available to speak to.
She had 3 meals a day and was always offered desserts in the evening. Tea and coffee were always available and orange juice was supplied with dinners.
You can make the room your relatives/friends home by bringing in their belongings. A TV is in the room with a wardrobe, drawers, bed, bedside drawers and sink. Anything extra you can think of you can take in yourself.
You can trust that your relative/friend will be safe here.

My mother was admitted from hospital to New Meppershall with both nursing and dementia care needs. From the moment she arrived the team couldn’t have done any more than they did to ensure she was as comfortable and cared for as possible and this is mirrored with the way visiting family are welcomed
and kept up to date. Their professionalism, caring and attention to detail whilst retaining a feeling of family and community is second to none. It was an anxious time for us as a family when mum was admitted to a home. But our concerns immediately disappeared when we met everyone and saw how warmly mum was welcomed and settling in. It is impossible to thank or praise the team at New Meppershall enough.

Lovely modern, home in all aspects. Staff always on hand for both residents and visitors when required. Lots of activities for all residents both internal and external. Extra services provided eg hairdressers, manicurists, chiropodists, even care home cats. Residents taken on day trips to the seaside
whilst my mum was there, she loved the day trip.
Good food and drinks throughout the day.
Visitors/entertainers regularly visit the home.

My mother has been extremely well cared for at New Meppershall Nursing Home. She moved there from hospital approximately six months ago. Initially, she was losing weight, but this was monitored and controlled by the nursing staff who made sure her diet was improved and she is now as healthy as we can
expect for a 96-year-old.
All the basic day-to-day requirements of care are carried out to a high standard.
My mother is now reasonably happy in her situation as are all the residents that I see when visiting. There are good attempts to keep them entertained within their own limitations.
Overall, I am very happy with the care she receives. There have been no issues which have caused me concern.

My mother and father moved into the New Meppershall Care Home in December 2014. Sadly, my father passed away there in 2015 aged ninety-eight, but my mother is still there. I have been very happy with the nursing and care that they have both received, so much so that I moved my aunt into the care home
in January 2020. My aunt is now one hundred years old and my mother will be ninety-seven next month. They have been well looked after and have both been very happy there.

My aunt was admitted from hospital and from day 1 the staff have been wonderful. From being unhappy and anxious she is now much more relaxed and feels safe. She tells me all the staff are very kind and this has been our experience as visitors too.
A personalized care plan was written very quickly
and the staff use this to provide a very professional and personal service.

The home is very much family oriented, the nurses and care staff are always friendly and obliging.
Help is always on hand if I have any worries or concerns I am able to speak to the manager
or a member of the office staff, and I know they will always do everything they can to assist in any way they
can, which is very reassuring.
I would like to thank New Meppershall for being a very special nursing home.

Mum has been in the home for 2 months, following a major stroke, whilst also suffering with Alzheimer's. The family have been delighted with the care mum has received - so much better than when she was in hospital. The staff are always friendly and happy to answer questions about her care, and she is
always clean, happy and cared for when we visit. Her complex needs are always met with a smile and we have total confidence in the care and attention she is receiving. She has a lovely room looking over the garden, and I cannot thank the staff enough for everything they are doing. It is clear how much they value their work - the rooms are thoroughly cleaned every day and mum is always treated with the utmost dignity and respect, whether they are feeding, cleaning, changing her or just popping in to say hello.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.996)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.996) out of 10 for New Meppershall Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 40 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.996 for New Meppershall Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (459 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 461 Ratings = 4.996
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for New Meppershall Care Home is based on 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 81 registered maximum number of service users is 16.2, which has been reached with 40 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
