My mum went to Meppershall from hospital. We had not visited prior and it was both mum and myself first experience within a care home so we were not sure what to expect. We were both immediately welcomed and made to feel at ease. It is a very bright and spacious home and we were both pleasantly surprised.
Mum stayed for 8 weeks and I can honestly say within that short amount of time it started to feel like home, the care and kindness all of the staff given not only to my mum but myself was amazing. I was constantly kept updated with mum's treatment and any health issues and it was lovely to see my mum bond and build relationships with the staff. Everyone from the nursing/care staff, admin, entertainment and housekeeping did their upmost to make mum's stay as comfortable as possible. Personally I also found the team very supportive, and always having a smile or a wave when I visited meant so much. I can't thank Meppershall enough for looking after us, it really is a wonderful place.

My Uncle was admitted to the home in February 2025 in Bedfordshire which was a jolt to him as he lived in Kidlington Oxfordshire. It was on the advice of Social Services and the medical profession to be near relatives.
His room was one of the best, it was spatial with ensuite, chairs etc. The staff
were brilliant in settling him in.
He was a character and all the staff knew of him in a positive light. There was a connection especially when the drinks trolley came round twice a day, hot tea, three sugars and a biscuit.
The Staff were forward thinking in that they actively engaged with the residents . The staff took the residents down the local pub, I joined them on one visit and they all enjoyed themselves. They found out that my Uncle was in the RAF, National Service so they arranged a visit to Duxford. He had a passion for cars so there was a visit to Silverstone to look at the cars.
The medical team in the home were at the top of their game for the benefit of my Uncle.

Our uncle went to the home in February 2025. The family is very impressed by the care and love he experienced. That love and care extended to us too. The home took time to understand what would make him happy and took him to places including Duxford Air Museum, Silverstone, local museums and, his favourite,
shopping in Milton Keynes. All the staff contributed to his mental and physical wellbeing, and were with him at the end of his life. We are so grateful, and so pleased we chose Meppershall for our uncle.

New Meppershall Care Home was wonderfully supportive in the care of my father. We found the care home extremely clean and well run; attentive caring staff, well prepared meals, regular updates on health matters and we were always made very welcome when visiting.
Of particular note was the support given
to us in celebrating my father's 100th birthday - the planning and thought put into the celebrations was very much appreciated.
We would highly recommend New Meppershall as a warm, welcoming and well run facility.

I can't thank all the staff enough for the care and compassion they gave to my dad and our family. Dad went to New Meppershall in July'25 and they catered for all his needs. He had a lovely large room with ensuite which was kept lovely and clean. The staff were all very friendly and would always
keep the family informed about dad. I could leave dad with peace of mind knowing he was being lovingly cared for. The staff treated the residents with respect and dignity. Very sadly my dad passed away in March and fortunately we were able to keep my dad in the home at end of life which was very peaceful and dignified. The staff were amazing and could not do enough for my dad and us as a family. They supplied us with recliner chairs, quilts and pillows so we could stay with him 24/7 which gave us great comfort knowing we could be with him. They made sure dad was comfortable all of the time and even ensured we were fed and watered so we didn't need to leave.

The home is well maintained with friendly caring staff. Dad feels quite at home, he has a lovely room with his own toilet facilities.
He can relax in his room or join in with the regular organised activities, including trips out to local attractions, garden centres and shops.
Living on his own became
too challenging, he made the decision to find a care home and New Meppershall had availability at the right time. All of his needs are taken care of, the food is excellent and there is always someone around, from the medical staff and carers to the cleaners and support staff.
Knowing that dad is being looked after removes the worry for us, we are always made to feel welcome when we visit.

My Dad has just moved on from New Meppershall Care Home after a short stay following his fall, surgery and then discharge from hospital.
The family have all been impressed with the high standard of care he has received whilst there. The dedicated staff team were always very caring, kind and patient
with my Dad who could be quite difficult at times. We found the team to be very responsive regarding any physical health concerns we had which were all managed professionally and with skill.
All the staff without question always greeted the family with a ready genuine smile whenever we visited and updated us with progress that had been made. Dad also commented several times about how the staff would chat and help him and how he felt they really cared.
Dad also enjoyed a day trip out and had a hair cut whilst he was there, which for him were just what he needed.

Initially Dad was in for respite and dementia care, while recovering from surgery, with a view to becoming a resident.
The care and understanding from the team was remarkable. Everybody from the care staff, medical team, administrators and managers all made him feel special and cared for. Their interaction
with family was considered and caring, and very supportive in a difficult time for us.
After settling in Dad was happy there, and went on several of the trips. What a great environment. Thanks all, you made a big difference to the family at a difficult time.

Dad came to New Meppershall during September 2024 and was there about a year before he sadly passed away. During his time there he was very settled and happy. The dedicated hard working staff were always attentive to his needs, always smiling. The home would arrange organised trips out which he participated
in and enjoyed. Always on hand to answer any of our concerns regarding his health and were supportive to us as a family. Would highly recommend

My Mum has been a resident here for 7 months. We were so lucky to find this care home. It meant we could leave Mum in their care without worrying about her. All of the staff are amazing, they always have a smile and words of encouragement and are very attentive and patient with her. Mum is happy here.
She gets lots of care and attention from everyone. The staff always inform me of how her day has been and any issues. Any medical issues are dealt with quickly either by the nursing staff or GP. I am really grateful to all of the staff for the care they give to Mum and also for the peace of mind for me.
The care home itself is very clean and bright. The garden is a lovely part of the home too for residents and visitors.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.988) out of 10 for New Meppershall Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 43 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 43 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.988 for New Meppershall Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (493 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 499 Ratings = 4.988
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for New Meppershall Care Home is based on 43 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 81 registered maximum number of service users is 16.2, which has been reached with 43 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
