Mum has been at New Meppershall Care Home full-time since just before lockdown. For much of that time, Covid has restricted our visiting. However, my brothers and I have never been concerned for her safety and well-being. The manager and her staff have been brilliant and have always done everything
they can to make Mum's life fun and interesting. In particular, their social media page helps keep us connected with her day to day activities, from Easter bonnet creation to visits from shetland ponies and Buddy the dog and even trips to the seaside and Christmas shopping.

Mum has been here for twelve months now and the staff have been incredibly caring and professional. Due to mum's illness she can be difficult at times but everyone goes out of their way to make her feel safe and secure. The rooms are lovely and the standards of cleanliness are very high.

My grandmother recently became a resident at this beautiful care home where the staff are just godsends. You can just see the care they give is beyond what you would ask for and means more to them than just a job. Thank you sincerely for everything!

Meppershall Care Home is truly a fabulous place. My mother is absolutely happy there, the happiest I have seen her in a while; she feels safe, which is paramount for her needs, the staff are superb, delivering the patience and kindness that she needs, and the hygiene is spotless! I love the updates
on Facebook showing different activities and events, and recently they have shetland ponies, which my mother really loved.

My father was taken to New Meppershall in December and my first impressions were already quite good. Lovely atmosphere, happy and devoted staff, plus a warm and welcoming feel from the home itself.
My father and I attended their Christmas party and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I could tell the staff
cared very deeply about creating a positive atmosphere for the residents and I felt that my father enjoyed being there. They were also keen on taking him on outings and running through a number of activities with him to keep him engaged. Unfortunately, at that point, my father had to be relocated to be closer to my mother in Luton but given the choice, we would have loved for him to have stayed. He was in and out of care homes frequently over the past two years and I can honestly say this was the best one so far. Thank you to all the staff who made him feel welcome and please keep doing what you're doing, because you're doing it well!

My father-in-law has been a resident in New Meppershall Care Home for over a year now and my husband and I cannot praise the staff enough. The care and attention given to my father-in-law is second to none and we would not hesitate to recommend this home to friends and other family members.

My mother was recently at New Meppershall Care Home and I must say the way she was cared for was nothing short of brilliant, from the moment she arrived she was very well looked after. Nothing was too much trouble for all the staff. The facilities are all first class, she often said how good the food
was. The room she had was lovely. I can't thank the staff enough for what they did for her and the way they treated her was brilliant.

My elderly mother arrived at Meppershall Care home on 22nd December 2022 after a prolonged hospital stay. We visited her a couple of days after her arrival and she looked a lot better than she had in hospital, and we could actually hold an intelligent conversation with her. Her room is very nice and
she can see the garden through her window. All the staff that we have met/dealt with are extremely professional/courteous and nothing is too much trouble for them.
Each room has a picture outside the door with the patient's picture and name.
Another nice touch was the day after my mother arrived, another resident presented her with a box of biscuits to welcome her, also the staff gave her and the other residents some toiletries and a bracelet. I can't praise the home and the staff enough. Well done and Thank you!

Dad has been at New Meppershall for a few months now and I have been thoroughly impressed with all the staff. Dad was in a poor state when he arrived and through the right medical treatment, kindness, understanding and outstanding care he has improved tremendously. When it was his birthday they made
a wonderful fuss of him and even made a birthday cake. Photos were taken and the whole family were made very welcome, even my dog. All of Dad's mental and medical needs have been provided for and he is very settled. Thank you.

I would highly recommend New Meppershall Care Home to anyone who is looking for care for their loved ones. My mother was a resident for 4 weeks of rehabilitation from hospital. All the staff were extremely helpful, caring and friendly. They treated my mother at all times with dignity and compassion.
We were contacted whenever necessary and kept informed about any issues that cropped up. Mum was sad to leave all the lovely carers behind, but we had to move her to be closer to family.

I have both my aunt and uncle at New Meppershall, both having Dementia to varying degrees, my aunt also has mobility issues and is currently not able to walk. At all times I have found the staff polite, caring and approachable. Both my aunt and uncle always say how lovely the carers/staff are that they
are happy being there and are well looked after.

My aunt has been living in Daffodil House at New Meppershall since December 2019. She is well looked after and the staff go above and beyond to meet her needs, which are becoming more complex. I think one of the biggest benefits of the home is that you will normally see the same staff members, which
gives it more of a family environment and also means that the staff are aware of how my aunt should be cared for. As a family member, I am kept fully updated on any changes or concerns which has been really important through Covid lockdowns. This is a brilliant care home and prior to Covid they had a variety of activities to engage the residents and I can see that they are trying to get back to this without putting the residents at risk. After a poor experience of care homes with another family member, Daffodil House has shown what a wonderful home can be had when independent living is no longer viable.

My mother came to New Meppershall for an assessment following a stay in hospital in July. It was clear to us that she really couldn't care for herself any longer at home and needed 24 hour care. She had the opportunity of a permanent place at New Meppershall and we Jumped at the chance as we were impressed
with the care and support from the staff. We haven't looked back. Every single member of staff (whatever their role) is very friendly, welcoming and patient with the residents. We are contacted whenever necessary and feel we are kept informed about issues that crop up. My mother seems very content here.

Mum moved into New Meppershall (Daffodil Unit) in February 2022 due to her dementia getting worse. She settled in quickly and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Any questions/queries are always dealt with promptly and we are given regular updates on mum. It's lovely to see photos of Mum joining
in with the activities and we are able to relax knowing that she is being well cared for. I would definitely recommend this Care Home.

My husband has only been in this care home for a week, having spent the previous five months between hospitals and a care home, during that 5 months he lost about two stone in weight and was confined to bed or a wheelchair due to the possibility of falls. Just prior to his admission to New Meppershall,
the source of his problems was finally diagnosed in hospital and treated, but he was left extremely weak and listless. He has made significant strides in his recovery here, becoming mentally alert and aware of his surroundings, and even stated that 'the staff here are ever so nice....'. That is such a comfort when you cannot be there frequently, and he appears also to have begun the long road towards regaining some mobility, which was fine five months ago before all his admissions and changes of environment. I have yet to see an unhappy looking staff member - all greet you with a smile and nothing is too much trouble. Cannot thank the staff enough for making the home so welcoming.

Nothing was too much trouble for them.
They were professional in their care as well as friendly and compassionate.
They made visiting easy with nice lounge areas for friends and family with tea and coffee facilities. Lovely

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.996)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.996) out of 10 for New Meppershall Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 40 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.996 for New Meppershall Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (459 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 461 Ratings = 4.996
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for New Meppershall Care Home is based on 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 81 registered maximum number of service users is 16.2, which has been reached with 40 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
