The staff are excellent, all very caring. They have kept us up to fate with the care that has been given to my mum. The staff have been very understanding of my mum and all that she has been through. I would highly recommend the Taymer Nursing Home.

I cannot fault the care my step mum received at Taymer Nursing Home. Unfortunately, she was end of life when she transferred from hospital to the nursing home but the care she received was fantastic. The staff could not do enough in her last week of her life, together with supporting her family at a difficult time.

My father was transferred into Taymer Nursing Home in Silsoe from hospital, following five weeks of hospital care. He was placed into the home as part of his rehab care after four weeks of excellent care at Taymer.

All the staff working at Taymer could not have made his stay any better and if his return home and carers attending proves too much for Dad I would definitely attempt to place Dad back at Taymer.

Overall Experience

It was such a relief to know that Dad was well cared for at Taymer when we could no longer cope with his needs at home. The staff were very kind and thoughtful, not only to Dad, but to the rest of the family which was particularly valued given the very limited access we had to the home, during the pandemic. It was clear that Dad was kept clean and comfortable at all times and that the staff were competent to manage all his needs. He was something of a character and not always easy to deal with, but the staff always seemed to remain good-humoured and positive. Dad really enjoyed the activities that were provided and I am sure they would have done more to entertain him, had circumstances been different. He also enjoyed the food, including the lovely fresh fruit salad served every day as a snack. Taymer does not pretend to be a luxury home and the decor is a bit tired, but we were very happy that Dad could spend his last days there.

Whilst not the most modern of care homes, the standard of care and kindness was truly excellent.

I cannot praise the Taymer nursing home for its care and kindness shown to my husband. Everyone was very caring and friendly and I was made to feel welcome every time I visited. The Taymer is just like a normal family home, homely, clean with wholesome food. Our family considered ourselves very lucky that they had a spare place for my husband. Thank you.

The standard of care was outstanding and I have no complaints about anything. All the staff were amazing, it was such a relaxed atmosphere. I was amazed at the way the staff dealt with the most difficult of residents. If I had to score the home out of ten, I would give eleven. Thanks to everyone, I will miss you a lot.

Very homely, caring atmosphere. All staff are very approachable and friendly. The room is very small and furniture needs replacing. My mother has settled very well.

Mum is always in good spirit and always very well cared for. The relationship between Mum and all the staff is so good; she refers to them as her friends. I always leave her knowing she is in good hands.

I cam to Taymer for rehab at the beginning of February. The home is so lovely and it is like being home from home. The staff are so friendly, caring and kind. We have three good wholesome meals a day, and nothing is too much for the staff to help me when I need it.

My wife stayed at Taymer in a rehabilitation bed having had her leg amputated. She is 66. I have nothing but praise for the staff, management or ethos of complete genuine care shown by all members of the team. Food's good and the beds are comfortable. Unfortunately in no way was the room suitable for someone learning how to cope with one leg - being winched on to a commode is not appropriate. Being surrounded by dementia patients doesn't help recovery either.

My dad was placed there for rehabilitation to get him mobile. My fear was when he left there he would be isolated again. He improved so quickly mentally and socially and this was down to the staff there who treated him with kindness and concern. I have not been able to hug him but feel they do everything to make him happy. He has decided to stay there and it is down to their care that the old sparkle is returning to his eyes. Thank you Taymer Nursing Home.

The care and provision my father received from all the staff has been exemplary. From the moment my father entered the home, he was treated with sensitivity and care which enabled him to retain his dignity. He felt happy and secure in the nursing home, knowing that all his needs were being met. The communication with all the staff was exceptional and as a family, we were informed of all decisions and observations. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel like part of the family.
