Located near the centre of Reading, Beacher Hall offers 24-hour nursing care and support for those 18 and over with a range of needs.

That includes those living with complex needs and neurological conditions, such as Multiple Sclerosis, respiratory conditions, Parkinson’s and acquired brain injuries. The home offers both long-term, short-stay and rehabilitation care.

A converted listed building, Beacher Hall offers a relaxing environment that is well equipped for a range of individual care needs.

There’s always a bustling atmosphere, with plenty for residents to get involved in. There is a physiotherapy gym – great for slow stream rehabilitation and preventing secondary complications – large landscaped gardens and an inviting lounge. These are open to all, whether they’re staying long-term or for a few months.

All bedrooms have en-suite facilities as well as a TV and telephone point. Comfortable communal areas and lounges, as well as the attractive landscaped gardens, provide the ideal setting where residents can socialise and relax with friends and family.

The home goes to great effort to ensure mealtimes are satisfying and enjoyable, aiming for a balanced and nutritious diet that also accounts for personal taste.

My mum has been at Beacher Hall for many years, and we have never once regretted choosing the home for her, she's well cared for by the dedicated staff, the food always smells delicious, there are plenty of activities to keep everyone amused, and the physio staff work miracles.
From the moment you
walk in the door, you are greeted by the lovely ladies, the home is relaxed and is currently having a huge makeover covering the whole building, the residents even get to choose their own room colour scheme.

A very good care home. Safe, clean and activities for patients. 80% of staff are good, 5% are not particularly good or motivated and 15% are excellent, helpful, confident, pleasant and efficient. In all, a very good care home, is expensive but I guess all such homes are expensive in today's world. Food
is reasonable and varied, sometimes not good and sometimes very good. Good physiotherapy department with very capable staff. Variety of recreational activities.

Clothes have been left on overnight on more than one occasion. Rooms in poor condition. The physio department is excellent. Nursing staff, caring at times, short staffed. Standards have deteriorated in the past few years. More one-to-one time spent with my sister.

I've stayed at Beachjer Hall for eight years and I love it here. The staff are kind, respectful and very hardworking. Always answer to my needs. The nurses and carers are extremely helpful and I feel very safe around the home. The manageress and office staff have everything under control and look after
everyone well. Physiotherapy and activities keep me busy and there is always something interesting to do every day! The food is home-made and tasty. You can order what ever you like to eat! The maintenance team are very helpful if things go wrong. I would definitely recommend Beacher Hall to anyone who is in need of a care home (rehabilitation centre).

The secret of this place - priceless team spirit, including employees in all departments. involved when my life partner 67 years and 5 months moved in. I joined him after seven years on my own, since his death in May 2017. Deaf, daft and indifferent, hearing aid replacements are in the pipeline. In
my childhood had to do should - second childhood don't do should anymore. At ninety, activities of absolutely no interest, then I never was a joiner in, no competitive spirit.

My brother arrived recently at Beacher Hall after a 15 week period of hospitalisation that had upset him and uprooted him from his previous stable care-in-community life. The staff at Beacher Hall have treated him with great kindness and compassion, making him feel at home very quickly; his regained
comfort and contentment are evident to us. His complex medical and dietary needs are understood and well-managed by the team, who have been very open and ensure that we, his family, are kept aware of his condition. It is a home that appears to combine great professionalism with a deep caring commitment in all its staff. We are delighted that he has become a resident there.

I can wholeheartedly say Beacher Hall has a home from home atmosphere! The reception staff, carers, nurses, therapists, management and everybody else within Beacher Hall take pride in their roles of care. They go above and beyond. There's always activities to keep residents entertained and the food

The staff at Beacher Hall worked hard to make my father comfortable in the last weeks and months of his life. It wasn't always easy but they listened to our comments and feedback and ultimately he agreed he was happy at Beecher Hall. They were also helpful to my mother who visited daily.

My wife went into Beacher Hall for palliative care. All staff were fantastic, kind, thoughtful and caring. Although her stay was short, my family and I were happy she was being given the best care possible at all times, day and night.

My 93-year-old mother was at Beacher Hall for two years until her recent death. She has previously had a difficult time at another nursing home, but the staff at Beacher Hall properly engaged with her and resolved many of her problems. During her residence there, I was impressed at the care and compassion
the staff showed towards her. The restrictions over Covid have been difficult, but my Mother's welfare was at the forefront of any decision made over this difficult time. I have no hesitation in recommending this nursing home to friends.

My friend had a short stay in the home. Even though I was unable to visit the staff were always very willing to arrange iPad calls and very accommodating with any requests. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to others.

My husband's stay was a short one. He was very poorly after a long spell in hospital and Beacher Hall was the best place for him. He received 1st class nursing care 24 hours by very caring nurses and care workers. They interacted with him (he was non-verbal) and nothing was too much trouble. He had
lots of complex needs and they treated him with compassion and dignity. He died at Beacher Hall peacefully and this is how we wanted it to be.

Made to feel welcome. Staff helpful, friendly. Our daughter has cerebral palsy, with quadruple spasticity, is a permanent wheelchair user and needs help 24/7. She can speak in her words, 'it is like my second home' and she is able to take part in everything. Thanks to the wonderful staff, she can't

My husband lived at Beacher Hall for 2 and a half years before moving home last week. We could not have found a better care home for him. The management are kind, supportive, efficient and enabling, the Reception Team give a great welcome one and all, the Nurses are experienced, thoughtful, kind and
compassionate. The Carers are always laughing and smiling, helpful and thorough. Housekeeping provides clean, well-ironed laundry and keeps Beacher Hall sparkling and orderly along with the Maintenance team. Everyone makes time to say hello and the place feels like home. The food is greatly enjoyed by the residents who aren’t peg fed. The Activities team plan entertainments morning and afternoon, 1-2-1 and outings. Physio was a key department for us. They are utterly brilliant. Nothing is too much trouble or effort and they work wonders with the residents’ rehab. We really felt that Beacher Hall was our home. Also, it never smelt like a care home! We are so very grateful to all who have given their time and care to us.

Superb home with truly amazing carers and nurses.
I have been visiting my friend at Beacher Hall for 2 years now, and cannot recommend the home highly enough.
If I ever need a care home for myself then I would be insisting on going to Beacher Hall and nowhere else.

I joined the Activities team seven years ago and currently I’m a lead activity coordinator. I feel passionate about what I do and especially the ability to positively change and enhance residents lives here at Beacher Hall.


Every day is different and brings new challenges but accomplishing these challenges makes it a rewarding experience for my team, my colleagues and most importantly the residents.


I love being there for our residents on a daily basis and being able to help them experience exciting and fulfilling moments of their lives. Nothing compares to seeing the joy and pure happiness in residents eyes when you know what you do matters so much to them.


We are all like family here and that is what makes Beacher Hall and its people a unity and a great place to be.

I have worked in care for more than sixteen years, I began my career as a Care Assistant and worked my way up to Senior Care Assistant and I am currently working as an activity coordinator.


My passion lies with making sure the residents are happy with the activities which I and my colleagues provide. Beacher Hall is a warm and friendly place to be, and we are one big happy family.
