Beacher Hall Care Home

I have been the home manager at Beacher Hall for the past four years and have worked for Bupa for 24 years.

My first role with Bupa was as a carer at Beacher Hall, and over the years I have worked my way up through a number of positions. Along the way, I became a registered nurse, senior sister, unit manager, clinical deputy manager and also held the acting home manager role between appointments before moving into my current position as home manager.

I come from a nursing background in Nepal, and my first job in the UK was as a carer at Beacher Hall. I have stayed and progressed within the care sector throughout my entire professional career. For a few years, I also worked part-time as a registered nurse for the NHS, but I found my passion was in care homes. Throughout my career, I have worked as an agency nurse in over 25 homes across a number of care providers.

What I enjoy most about working in care services is that every day is different. Our residents' livelihoods are in our hands, and I embrace the responsibility of ensuring they receive the best possible care day in, day out. I enjoy collaborating with people from different disciplines and coordinating my team to ensure we are productive, while also making sure colleagues enjoy the work they do.

I live around a 20-minute drive from Beacher Hall, just on the other side of Reading, with my husband and our two boys. They help me maintain a healthy work-life balance.

At the start of this year, I began a yoga programme called Jeevan Vigyan, which has changed my life significantly for the better. I dedicate more than two hours each day to practising its teachings. In my free time, I also enjoy cooking, dancing and spending time with my sisters, nieces and nephews, who all live locally.

I love travelling the world with my boys. This year alone, we will have visited eight countries, and we look forward to continuing to explore the beauty of our planet together for many years to come. Read less

I am a clinical lead physiotherapist and acting deputy manager at Beacher Hall.

I have worked as a physiotherapist with Bupa since 2014. Following two years of experience as a physiotherapist, I progressed into the role of clinical lead physiotherapist, a position I have held for the past 10 years. More recently, for the past six months, I have been working as acting deputy manager, covering maternity leave.

During my time with Bupa, I have been given the opportunity to develop professionally and progress in my career. These experiences have allowed me to build on my clinical expertise while developing my leadership and management skills.

I completed my Master's degree in physiotherapy in Poland, where I worked for five years as a community neuro physiotherapist, alongside working in a clinic treating patients with a variety of conditions using different treatment modalities, including electrical stimulation, light therapy and lymphatic drainage massage.

After moving to the UK, I worked as a healthcare assistant in a dementia care home before joining an NHS neurorehabilitation ward, initially as a healthcare assistant and later progressing to the role of senior healthcare assistant.

Once I obtained my HCPC registration as a physiotherapist, I joined Beacher Hall, where I have continued to develop my clinical skills and professional experience. In 2023, I completed a Level 5 Leadership and Management programme.

I really enjoy working in a slow-stream rehabilitation setting, where I can support residents in achieving their goals and see their progress over time. Neurorehabilitation is a long journey that requires a multidisciplinary approach, collaboration and excellent teamwork. What I particularly enjoy about this care setting is the opportunity to work closely with different professionals to provide person-centred care and support residents in achieving the best possible outcomes and quality of life.

I live in Reading with my partner and our five-year-old daughter. I am someone who enjoys setting personal and professional goals and working hard to achieve them. I am fortunate to have a very supportive family, both here in Reading and in Poland, where I maintain close ties with the rest of my family.

Outside of work, I enjoy keeping active, travelling, and exploring different cuisines and cultures. I believe in continually challenging myself, both personally and professionally, and my next goal is to complete the Reading Half Marathon. Read less

I have been working at Beacher Hall for the last fifteen years in different departments and I’ve made many friends over the years with people I work with and look after.

I joined the Activities team seven years ago and currently I’m a lead activity coordinator. I feel passionate about what I do and especially the ability to positively change and enhance residents lives here at Beacher Hall.

Every day is different and brings new challenges but accomplishing these challenges makes it a rewarding experience for my team, my colleagues and most importantly the residents.

I love being there for our residents on a daily basis and being able to help them experience exciting and fulfilling moments of their lives. Nothing compares to seeing the joy and pure happiness in residents eyes when you know what you do matters so much to them.

I have worked in care for more than sixteen years, I began my career as a Care Assistant and worked my way up to Senior Care Assistant and I am currently working as an activity coordinator.

I am the maintenance operative at Beacher Hall. My role involves ensuring the home is safe, well-maintained, compliant and comfortable for our residents, visitors, and colleagues.

I have been working as a maintenance operative at Beacher Hall for several years, supporting the day-to-day running of the home and helping to create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. During my time here, I have developed my skills and knowledge through both practical experience and professional development opportunities.

I have always enjoyed practical work, problem-solving, and helping people. My background is in maintenance and facilities-related work, and I was drawn to the care home sector because it combines technical skills with the opportunity to make a real difference to people's everyday lives. Working in a care home is about much more than maintaining a building; it is about creating a safe, comfortable, and dignified environment where residents can feel at home.

What I enjoy most about working in care services is knowing that the work I do contributes directly to residents' wellbeing and quality of life. Whether it's carrying out repairs, improving facilities, or responding quickly to maintenance issues, I know that my work helps residents, visitors, and colleagues feel safe and supported. I also enjoy being part of a team that shares a common purpose of delivering high-quality care.

I live locally in the Reading area, which allows me to feel connected to the community we serve. Outside of work, I enjoy continuous learning and personal development, particularly in leadership, management, and workplace improvement. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, keeping active, and finding ways to support positive wellbeing and work-life balance.
