Nestled in the leafy village of Stockcross, Bayford House offers personalised care packages which include residential, respite, nursing, palliative and Parkinson’s care. The home also has independent living suites for those in need of extra support or recovering from surgery.

Originally a private residence, Bayford House is set within large landscaped gardens and has been extensively modernised and refurbished to provide a high standard of accommodation and care. High ceilings and period features can be enjoyed throughout the home and residents can feel relaxed and comfortable in the spacious communal rooms and lounge areas. Most bedrooms have en-suite facilities and all are tastefully furnished and decorated.

Residents can stay for two weeks, a month or longer– however long residents or loved ones needs support. They’ll get to relax and meet new friends, giving families complete peace of mind. The home has a dedicated respite room that can be booked up to three months in advance, staff are happy to accept last-minute requests too.

The independent living suites are spacious bedrooms with lounge areas, situated within Newdale Court, a part of the home that supports assisted living. There is an on-site salon, large lounge and cinema room, as well as a dining room complete with hostess service.

Individual dietary preferences form the basis of the in-house chef’s daily menu, with homemade meals and lighter alternatives available.

Arts and crafts and reminiscence sessions are examples of the many activities available for residents, as are gentle gardening and sing-a-longs. Regular church services and a visit from a mobile library are also available.

Warm and welcoming, friendly, good programme of activities. When asked to improve certain aspects of the food, the request was acted upon. Expensive!

My mother moved into the care home 6 months ago and since that time she has enjoyed the social aspect of making friends and enjoying the daily activities.
We are extremely happy with the care supplied by all the staff; nurses, carers, administration team, chef, cleaners and laundry assistants. We feel
confident that she is in a happy, safe environment. The building and its environ is spacious, quiet and exactly what we were looking for.

I came to Bayford House to see what it was like to live here. I was impressed by the staff I met and after 3 days, my son and daughter also visited with the possibility that I would find a new home here. We were so impressed that we made arrangements to be entered as a resident.
Having now been here
for 2 months, I have had no regrets and feel settled in completely.

After visiting Bayford House Care Home, I was so impressed with what I saw and heard, it was just what I needed for some respite care and it was amazing. Well over and above my expectations. The staff and management were kind, courteous, always smiling and willing to help. There was never a dull moment
for art and crafts, quizzes, walks in the lovely gardens, chats with friendly residents and much more. When I arrived for 2 weeks R and R I was exhausted, when I left I was revitalised! Thanks to everyone at Bayford.

Everything was good other than the lunches which were often poorly cooked and unimaginative and served in a very noisy atmosphere.

My husband was in Bayford House for six months before he passed away very recently. During that time he was always treated with warmth, care and compassion by the lovely nurses and carers. He was blind and only knew them by their voices and he was always pleased when he’d had a conversation with one
of them. He loved hearing about their gardens and home countries. He also really liked the food and particularly the delicious and plentiful fruit.
I was able to visit him every day and the staff always treated me with friendliness and compassion and I shall miss my visits there.
We were very lucky to have Bayford House literally just around the corner and it couldn’t have been a better place for him. The staff made his final few months so much easier for us all and we shall always be grateful to them and the grounds are beautiful.

My mother moved into Newdale Court last year, following several falls at her home. Having led an independent life up until this point, we all found it hard to adjust to life in a care home environment. During this time, the staff could not have been more supportive and did everything they could to help
Mum settle. She is now settled and in much better health. The staff are outstanding in the care that they give; their warmth and compassion are evident, and they have all taken the time to get to know Mum and understand her needs as an individual. The home is always friendly and welcoming, and staff work hard to provide a stimulating environment - from dressing up to decorating communal areas - there is always something going on. The manager and the staff are always around to answer any questions, and the home has a very safe and supportive atmosphere. I believe my mum is getting excellent care and would have no hesitation in recommending Bayford House.

Fantastic afternoon joining in with the Queen’s Jubilee Celebration. The staff are always friendly; they organised the afternoon very well.
Starting with a vintage acrobatic act that had an amusing comical side to it, which all the residents enjoyed, and afterwards, they had a tea party.
What a pleasure

My mother did not want to go into a care home but it was decided safest option for her as the hospital could do nothing more for her whilst waiting for a hip operation.
It was the best decision, I have seen such a change in her, they are not only doing an excellent job with her care but have made her
feel noticed and welcome. She is now eating properly, the food is very good quality and she is mentally coping better with her pain.
The manager, nurses and staff are so compassionate, friendly and helpful. I feel my mum is now in safe hands. This has not only been good for my mum but for the family to know she is receiving such good care. Thank you.
I would recommend Bayford House Care Home for short or long term care.

The care at the home is spectacular. Nothing is too much trouble. The staff are often prepared to go the extra mile to care for their residents. The staff genuinely care for the people that they look after and the home has a homely feel. My elderly friend always dreaded going into a care home, but when
the time came when she needed to, the staff at Bayford made her feel so settled and cared for, that the transition was much easier than I had anticipated. Furthermore, they have done brilliantly throughout the pandemic, keeping the residents entertained and cared for and communicating regularly with those of us that have someone living at Bayford. I couldn’t wish for a better nursing home for my elderly friend.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.196) out of 10 for Bayford House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 42 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 35 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.196 for Bayford House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (261 Excellents x 5) + (144 Goods x 4) + (52 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (36 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 495 Ratings = 4.196
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bayford House Care Home is based on 35 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 59 registered maximum number of service users is 11.8, which has been reached with 35 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

People often say that I should have retired by now but I class this as my second home and love all my residents.

When I lost my husband, everybody here was so supportive. My favourite time of year is Christmas when I put up all the decorations in the home, which the residents and families enjoy.

If I can go home at night and know I have made one of my residents smile that is a great feeling.

Job Title: Finance Administrator Joined: 2008

I am originally from Greater Manchester where I worked for Dairy Crest since leaving school until I joined Bupa in June 2008. Firstly as an administrator at The Donnington, where I worked for four years until I had the opportunity to move to Thatcham Court, which is a larger home, in June 2012, this presented additional scope for broadening my experience.

I embraced the challenge of working in a new care home environment, as Thatcham Court is a dementia home, and this presented new aspects to the job and also included a wider range of duties. After working in a dementia home for nine months I felt I would prefer to focus my skills in a non-dementia home, which is when I came to Bayford House in May 2013.
