Nestled in the leafy village of Stockcross, Bayford House offers personalised care packages which include residential, respite, nursing, palliative and Parkinson’s care. The home also has independent living suites for those in need of extra support or recovering from surgery.

Originally a private residence, Bayford House is set within large landscaped gardens and has been extensively modernised and refurbished to provide a high standard of accommodation and care. High ceilings and period features can be enjoyed throughout the home and residents can feel relaxed and comfortable in the spacious communal rooms and lounge areas. Most bedrooms have en-suite facilities and all are tastefully furnished and decorated.

Residents can stay for two weeks, a month or longer– however long residents or loved ones needs support. They’ll get to relax and meet new friends, giving families complete peace of mind. The home has a dedicated respite room that can be booked up to three months in advance, staff are happy to accept last-minute requests too.

The independent living suites are spacious bedrooms with lounge areas, situated within Newdale Court, a part of the home that supports assisted living. There is an on-site salon, large lounge and cinema room, as well as a dining room complete with hostess service.

Individual dietary preferences form the basis of the in-house chef’s daily menu, with homemade meals and lighter alternatives available.

Arts and crafts and reminiscence sessions are examples of the many activities available for residents, as are gentle gardening and sing-a-longs. Regular church services and a visit from a mobile library are also available.

My mother had 2 weeks respite stay at Bayford House. We were concerned COVID-19 might affect this, however, she had an excellent stay and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Should we need fun residential care in the future, Bayford House would be our first choice.

This home has provided exceptional care to my mother, this is before the pandemic hit and since the lockdown. They provide a caring varied environment and continued to do so during the very difficult circumstances of lockdown.

Pleased with my mother's care and safety. They have plenty of food with 4 meals a day and in-between meal times they have snacks. Night staff will make drinks and snacks if they want it. The nurse will let you know if your mother is not well in any way that is out of the normal and will get in contact
with you if they need to call a GP and keep you updated on the situation until things are back to normal.

The staff at Bayford House have taken care of my mother during the most difficult time with the coronavirus pandemic. They have kept her safe and well. She is fed up with the restrictions (and doesn't like the food!) but they have done their best given the circumstances. In the beginning (March) communication
was limited but form Mid April regular communication has taken place.
Reply from Greta Narbutaityte, Customer Adviser at Bayford House Care HomeThank you for your understanding during such a difficult time. We appreciate it is very hard not being able to see your loved one for such a long time. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to help.

Mum has been a resident for a little over two years and is suffering from memory loss. She is always well cared for and treated with dignity, any anxiety she exhibited while living alone disappeared as soon as she moved here. All care is exemplary. A weight lifted off my mind knowing she is so well
cared for.

Our 92-year-old Mum has been a resident of Newdale Court for a year. She went in initially for respite after caring for Dad at home until he needed the nursing care that Bayford House provides. They were both given the best possible care. Mum stayed on and being active she joins in with exercise mornings,
scrabble, quizzes and craft sessions. She also walks around the newly laid path in the grounds. We cannot speak highly enough of the very kind and caring staff who look after Mum so well and treat us, the family, with equal kindness, understanding and thoughtfulness. We are always made welcome.

The staff I can only describe as excellent. I have never seen so many good staff in one nursing home. The house and grounds couldn't be better. The only negative thing is places to walk. The only place to take a wheelchair is on the main road in and out of the home with lorries and cars passing you
all the time, due to the footpath being closed all summer. Has been reported but no action taken.
Reply from Greta Narbutaityte, Customer Adviser at Bayford House Care HomeThank you John for such a positive review. It is unfortunate that there is not a lot of options for walks around the care home but we will certainly pass on your comments to the care home manager. The Bupa Customer Care Team

Every member of staff is really caring, they have made such a difference to my lovely Mum. They make her feel special not only by caring for her in the obvious and expected ways but by taking the time to chat with her or to notice that she likes company or to stay up late and they make it happen so
she is relaxed and happy. The daily activities are varied and enjoyable. Medication is administered discreetly and personally. The food is fantastic and the Chefs and kitchen staff are excellent. They take time to explain what is on the menu and offer alternatives or variations and it is served in appropriate crockery, for example, Mum can't see so well so the staff have got contrasting crockery for her. I am made welcome at any time and feel very confident in the person-centred care Mum is getting. For the first time in a long time I have proper conversations with my Mum and I know, because she tells me, that she is happy, safe and very well fed!

Excellent. All the staff took trouble to be welcoming - including serving us with lunch.

It was clear that the relationship between staff and residents is extremely good.

I came away much more relaxed about the thought I might sometimes be in a care home - if so I hope it will be as good as Bayford

House.

Very welcoming staff at a very stressful time for our family.
All questions were answered immediately.
Nothing was too much trouble.
When we needed to change accommodation for one parent, it was all done as quickly as possible.
When outside medical care was needed it was seen to quickly for both
parents.

Bayford House has a warm, welcoming feel to it as soon as you arrive. This is all due to the wonderful staff who are there. They all commit to that wonderful family feel, nothing is ever too much trouble. Unfortunately, Bayford is still awaiting a total refurbishment. Areas of the original house now
desperately need attention and are certainly not what you would expect from a private home. I have personally written to the house manager regarding an outside area.

Mum has been very poorly and weak, but the nurses and carers are helping so much with keeping her comfortable, encouraging eating and drinking to raise her mood. We are able to talk openly to them and assist as much as we can with what is best for her. They come in and move her to the bed when tired
and help with everything - we feel 100% happy with her care and never have to worry as it's 24/7.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.196)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.196) out of 10 for Bayford House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 42 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 35 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.196 for Bayford House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (261 Excellents x 5) + (144 Goods x 4) + (52 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (36 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 495 Ratings = 4.196
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bayford House Care Home is based on 35 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 59 registered maximum number of service users is 11.8, which has been reached with 35 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have always since the age of 19 worked in the care sector. I spent a lot of time working for social services in Essex and North Yorkshire and I have also worked as a sheltered housing officer.

I am married with 2 children. I live locally to the home.
My husband and I enjoy fishing and holidays in Cuba. I enjoy working in care as i love to see the smiles that good care puts on the residents faces!

I have been at Bayford House/Newdale Court for twenty five years. I am Newdale’s Activity Coordinator and I have three children; two boys and one girl and seven grandchildren - I even bring them in to work sometimes as they love to talk to the residents.

People often say that I should have retired by now but I class this as my second home and love all my residents.

When I lost my husband, everybody here was so supportive. My favourite time of year is Christmas when I put up all the decorations in the home, which the residents and families enjoy.

If I can go home at night and know I have made one of my residents smile that is a great feeling.

Job Title: Finance Administrator Joined: 2008

I am originally from Greater Manchester where I worked for Dairy Crest since leaving school until I joined Bupa in June 2008. Firstly as an administrator at The Donnington, where I worked for four years until I had the opportunity to move to Thatcham Court, which is a larger home, in June 2012, this presented additional scope for broadening my experience.

I embraced the challenge of working in a new care home environment, as Thatcham Court is a dementia home, and this presented new aspects to the job and also included a wider range of duties. After working in a dementia home for nine months I felt I would prefer to focus my skills in a non-dementia home, which is when I came to Bayford House in May 2013.
