I wish on behalf of my wife who has been a resident in Dormy House for just over 3 years. She is very settled and being bedbound is very well cared for. Everything in Dormy House has improved significantly and continues to do so since the takeover of Aria Care.

Attention to detail that surpasses all expectations. My mum was taken ill at home and suddenly became incapacitated, therefore she needed to moved to a care home with her husband who she was looking after. The staff at Dormy House attended to every need with compassion and care. They frequently communicated
with our family with awesome ideas that made what was a frightening situation for my mum to one of comfort and peace. Thank you to everyone at Dormy House, you are wonderful. Don't forget the Chef, great grub!

Since mum was transferred from hospital to Dormy House, she has changed her lonely life on her own to meeting other residents. It's going to take time to come out of her shell. I am very happy with my husband being at Dormy House. He has settled in very well after a couple of week. Everybody is very friendly. When I leave my husband there I feel content knowing they are looking after him and that means everything to me. The management inform us of what is going on.

How does one begin to experience Valentines Day with a partner who is living in a nursing home? With real love, care, and attention to detail, the Dormy House Team helped to create a happy Valentine's Day lunch for myself and my husband.
The Team seemed to sensitively understand that it was a very
different experience for me than what we had shared together previously. The Dormy House Team are proactive in their care for residents and not simply reactive! Every staff member seems to naturally offer support to residents and relatives. Even although they are busy with routine tasks. The House is in very pleasant surrounding - semi rural. Plenty of car parking. Secure entrance leading into a reception area. No unpleasant smells. Pleasant decor. The staff are very pleasant and helpful to visitors and residents alike endeavouring to make everyone comfortable. The rooms are clean and
pleasant. There were a variety of activities on offer. There was plenty of drinks and snacks on offer. The dining room was well presented there were choices on the menu and the food looked appealing.

My mother came to Dormy House for 2 weeks respite. She was looked after very well and though the staff were universally very kind and attentive. Her room was large, comfortable and spotless. My stepmom's husband, my father, passed away during July. It was a difficult time to inform our stepmom who has vascular dementia. The care home ensured our stepmom was kept safe and secure and ensured her welfare was maintained at this difficult time.

Since my brother was accepted and arrived at Dormy House everything that the staff and senior managers did for him was brilliant. Although his stay was relatively short the care and conduct gave me the satisfaction that I knew he was in good hands. The facilities were as good as the care.

Today has been a wonderful example of the huge improvement that has been made over the past few months. What a fabulous Carers Day showing the hard work and dedication of the management and staff to the residents and relatives. They have always been dedicated staff here but with the support of great
managers and head nurses now, all the staff feel supported. Communication with relatives is really good and I feel very comforted that my dad is so well cared for.

I cannot tell you how happy and grateful I am with Dormy House. My husband is very happy with his care, which, with the new management and the arts and crafts department is now second to none. When my husband first entered Dormy, I was concerned that he complained about being bored and walked around
not knowing what to do. Now this wonderful home has stimulated his interest in doing crafts etc and I now have no concerns.

My mother has been in Dormy House for almost two years. I have noticed a huge improvement in the atmosphere under the new manager. They have however inherited many problems especially with the building being so old. The food seems to have improved, but many of the bedrooms and bathrooms in Wentworth
are badly in need of redecorating and updating. The carers are wonderful, the nurses are excellent and the new managers are lovely highly professional, efficient and caring.

Carmela Magbitang

Job Title: Home Manager

Originally from the Philippines, I am a nurse by profession, and I’ve been working in the care sector for about 15 years since I moved to the UK. I continually try to enhance my knowledge and skills as a nurse.


As a Home Manager, it gives me an opportunity to make a difference across the wider community. I was part of an NHS pilot project designed to reduce hospital admissions, not just in residential care but for any elderly person at home. It was a fascinating project, and I am proud to have been at the forefront of this initiative.


My daily responsibilities encompass ensuring excellent care delivery by my team, prioritising resident safety, and maintaining regulatory compliance. However, what truly resonates with me is the personal connection I foster with the residents. I prioritise spending meaningful time with them, integrating myself as a familiar presence rather than just an authority figure, ensuring their comfort and well-being. I sit next to them and find the time to check the whole home’s environment and work closely with my wonderful team here at Dormy. For me, caregiving is a heartfelt commitment to providing the level of care I would want for my own family.


Drawing from my upbringing in the Philippines, where intergenerational living is customary, I approach each resident as a cherished member of my own family, overseeing every aspect of their care with meticulous attention.


It is my aim at Dormy to create a joyful experience and happy environment for the residents and ensure the whole community is harmonious and happy. I will use my skills to create a culture where there is a happy, motivated, working environment for all.


Outside of work, I am immensely proud of my two grown-up daughters who have both been to university, one is a lawyer, and the other is a nurse. We enjoy family time and I like to keep fit and healthy and place an emphasis on self-care and wellbeing. This enables me to positively impact those around me.


I live in Reading, Berkshire, and after a short commute, I find solace in the tranquil surroundings of Dormy House, nestled amidst a picturesque golf course. I invite visitors to experience firsthand the exceptional care and unparalleled amenities we offer.
